However our headboard had a big hole in it right where your head would rest if you're sitting up to watch tv and there was some hair on the floor which made me question the cleanliness of the room. The usb charging outlet on the desk wasn't working but a plug in adaptor was fine. Service is great, staff are all very friendly and helpful. I think for the price it's a bit steep and there needs to be better attention to detail like fixing/replacing worn or damaged headboards and clean bathroom floors are a must! The elevators are also pretty worn as are the carpets in common areas. The public spaces like the lounges are beautiful and I'm happy to see the original mouldings and furniture still in place.

I remember having to order a crib for our hotel room, and how accommodating the staff were at that time. Our family had a wonderful stay here, so long ago. And since then, whenever I've visited Victoria, it's been impossible NOT to pass this gorgeous hotel by, as it sits on a huge chunk of prime real estate, on Government Street, overlooking the inner harbor and across the street (kitty corner) from the majestic Parliament Building. And the hotel itself is quite majestic, reminiscent of a castle, really. I think it is one of the most famous and most beautiful hotels in all of Canada. The hotel is known for its high tea service on the weekends, and for its posh hospitality and service. Of course, one must expect to pay top dollar for all this, plus this prime location, but to many, it is worth it. I recently returned to this hotel for a wedding and boy, I was impressed. The ceremony was held on the south lawn and it was gorgeous. What a fabulous venue, with a view of the harbor and the Parliament Building, with all the flowers and chairs on the impeccable green grass, surrounded by all the well-kept bushes and trees, with the stunning hotel as our backdrop. After we were all ushered through the gorgeous main floor and by the stunning lobby to a ballroom for cocktails and dinner. The room was large enough to accommodate all the tables for us diners as well as a large dance floor, plus room for the live musicians and the dj too. Yet despite the open and spacious configuration of the space, it felt intimate, thanks to the lighting and lay-out of tables. And the hotel staff were unbelievable. Seriously, if you plan on hosting an important and/or formal event in Victoria, you should definitely consider this venue. There is not one aspect of the event or evening I could find fault with. I thought the washrooms were beautiful. I loved the high end shops on the main floor (bummer that they were closed when I was there. I would have loved to check out some of the kick-ass purses and clutches on display in the windows). I loved the hotel lobby with the stunning organic mesh art installation suspended from the ceiling. I loved the genteel wood-paneled, gentlemen's club-like lounge....I really loved it all.

The breakfasts provided are not to be missed. The breakfast menu had something for everybody, and the quality of the food and service was outstanding. Even the afternoon appetizer was really good. The service at Abigail's is one of the main reasons we liked it, with the staff seeming willing to do just about anything to accommodate. Not a hotel for kids and pets, but if you like classy and old school, Abigail's is the place.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the nicest front desk people, who took our luggage for storage, then found our room had indeed been cleaned as early as possible and was in fact ready for us for early check in immediately! The property itself is reminiscent of a period of taste and attention to detail that seldom exists any more. Our room was beautiful: spacious, with two separate bathroom sinks and a separate jetted tub and walk-in shower, plus a small sitting area and plenty of space! So nicely appointed with everything in its place, and everything working. The entire lobby and library/lounge area was also beautifully appointed, and so homey and inviting. And breakfast - included with the room - was elaborate and scrumptious. Each day features both sweet and savory options; for example, pancakes, or eggs and bacon. My wife and I got one of each and shared them. It was all delectable. And each day's menu, specially prepared and printed for that day, includes a weather forecast for the day - even with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! We had such a wonderful stay that we hated to leave. We'd look forward to visiting Victoria again and would definitely choose Abigail's hotel again!!

But regardless, I love exploring new wine regions and had a lovely visit to Church & State during my honeymoon. We made a reservation ahead of time and got to enjoy a tasting at the bar before grabbing a glass to enjoy on the patio with a cheese board. Service during the tasting was just okay. Our server out on the patio was much warmer and provided us more information about the wines and the property. While there, we saw a wedding party arrive as they host weddings here. No surprise as the grounds are absolutely gorgeous! The view from the patio is stunning and it felt like the perfect getaway!

You can choose between a sparkling flight or red flight from their sister location in the Okanagan. I ordered the bison burger with fries, and while the burger was solid, the fries were standout--crispy, golden perfection! The views from the deck overlooking the vineyards make it an ideal place to linger over a glass (or two)! A great addition to a day spent touring the Butchart and the Butterfly Gardens :)

Staff was friendly and helped with luggage up the steps. The hotel isn't the most accessible with steps and jacuzzi shower combo is very high with very low toilet that my mother struggled. Step free access may be possible through garage but the garage door was locked. They did not have a room with a more accessible bathroom but did their best to find equipment to help and gave a shower chair for transfers. Cannot complain too much since we did not request an accessible room but this could be an issue for those who would have trouble with the abnormal toilet and shower/tub heights. Also, it did get noisy at times from the hallway/lobby noise heard in the living room where I was on the sofa bed but mom did not notice it in the bedroom. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep well.

For what was described as an affordable hotel, it was far better and did NOT feel like a chain cookie cutter economy hotel other than the price, I would choose to stay again! Even housekeeping, so quiet and that is rare even in higher end hotels. You hear the 12am ton2pm shuffle in hallways, not here, it was quiet cozy, friendly and again the bedding! Thank you to the staff, and who ever is behind the laundry amd selection of pillows. The location is also perfect for getting to all the tourist spots, the harbor and quiet enough we left windows open the entire stay.

The staff were also incredibly accommodating; they offer early check-in or late check-out when availability allows, and they'll happily hold your luggage for extended periods so you can keep exploring the city without carrying everything around. One fun bonus: don't forget to try the complimentary Hangry Hippo gummies! The light blue ones were my favorite. Overall, this was a comfortable, convenient, and welcoming place to stay. We'd absolutely stay here again.

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. There was no wait at all to check-in. Check-out was also very quick, there was no line so it only took a minute. The hotel has parking but requires a room key to go down into the underground parking lot. There are lots of spots available. The hotel also allows cars to be parked after checkout until 3pm (as of writing), which is really nice of them. The room I received was spacious. Upon arrival, there were nature sounds (birds, wind, forest theme) playing and the fan was on. There is heating but no air conditioning, and so the room was pretty warm, even for early April weather. I was given a room on the 7th floor, for reference. My room had a full kitchen, including a stove, fridge, sink, and microwave. Even had a taller dining table that serves as a kitchen island. The bathroom is big and feels luxurious, with both a shower and a bathtub. There were many towels supplied, as well as body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Overall a great experience. Would definitely stay here again.

The location was great to get to shopping, restaurants, and bars. The bus stop to catch public transit was very close around the block. The front desk staff were very friendly. We were lucky and got upgrades to a suite with a kitchenette. There was a terrible view, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. I appreciated having the extra space. The room was pretty nice. Updated. Clean for the most part. Some of the popcorn ceiling is starting to flake off. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays and it was a nice space to meet up with our friends. Would definitely stay here again!

The location was convenient and close to everything we needed. We booked through Expedia, and it seemed we were assigned one of the most basic, dated rooms in the hotel. The room itself was clean, and the staff were consistently polite and friendly. Valet service was also prompt and efficient. Unfortunately, the room showed its age. The towels were old and stiff, and the bed sheets were so rough that I woke up with friction marks on my legs. The shower drain was clogged, causing water to back up while showering. Since we had arrived late and were exhausted from traveling, we chose not to switch rooms. The front desk did offer us another room, but when we went to look at it, had a noticeable smoke odor. We were glad we decided to stay in our original room. Although it would have been helpful if they mentioned this to us. Overall the service was good, but the rooms are overdue for renovation. The hotel has potential, but the accommodation did not meet my expectations for a 4-star property.
