I also felt that some of the advice and comments I received did not reflect the reality of my situation. For several years, my child's mother and I shared parenting responsibilities on a week-on/week-off schedule. We each maintained clothing, school items, and necessities for our child, and I provided health insurance coverage. Despite this, I was told that I had been "spoiled" because I was not paying child support, which I found dismissive of the financial and parental contributions I had been making. Communication was another major concern. I often found it difficult to get timely responses to questions. When I informed her that I needed additional time to pay an outstanding balance but intended to pay it, I expected a discussion about possible options. Instead, she withdrew from representing me. What frustrated me most was that I did not receive a phone call to discuss the situation beforehand, which left me feeling abandoned during an important custody matter. Overall, I left the attorney-client relationship feeling unsupported, underprepared, and disappointed with the level of communication and representation I received. This is simply my personal experience, but based on that experience, I would not hire this attorney again and would encourage anyone considering representation to ask detailed questions about communication, trial preparation, and client expectations before retaining counsel.
