They obviously know what they are doing. Abraham's program helped me strengthen my muscles (that were long forgotten) by increasing the challenges every week. He listened to me and made specific adjustments. I learned enough to confidently do the exercises on my own (something that watching youtube videos has never been able to do). On this particular day, I was introduced to a physical therapist named Alex, a first-time interaction, who said he would be applying heating patches as part of my treatment. I consented to that procedure. What followed was not that. Without warning or consent, Alex reached beneath my clothing, stretched my underwear away from my body, and inserted his fingers into my backside. I was in shock. I froze. And like so many women who have been conditioned to stay quiet, to not cause a scene, to not make things uncomfortable for the people who harm them, I walked out of that clinic in silence. That silence ends here. I called the clinic days later and spoke with the manager, Beatrice. She offered an apology that felt cold and dismissive. She then requested that I come in for a face-to-face meeting with Alex present. As a survivor of sexual violence who has spent years healing from the shame and guilt that was placed on me by others, I could not subject myself to that. That request alone speaks volumes about how this situation was handled. I am a rape survivor. I know what it costs to speak. I am speaking anyway. I am filing a formal complaint with the California Physical Therapy Board and working with my family's attorney. Alex should be held accountable. And anyone within this organization who chose to protect him over the patient he violated should be equally ashamed. No more hushing.

Most rooms have three beds with one narrow window, completely covered at the bottom and "frosted" at the top. I urge you to visit the facility and not rely on the website before you make a decision about this place. Again, I have no reason to blame the staff, it's what they have to work with. Shame on the owners and/or investors for making a profit at the expense of the residents here.

My mother was a resident at Valley Palms from 2013 to 2021…read more No Skilled Nursing Facilities are perfect. My mom, Carole, had been a resident of a few other SNFs before Valley Palms. Valley Palms nurses and Administrators were more responsive and sought to do right by patients. Some of the great LVN nurses who worked with my mom were Marlon, Paramjit, and Richard. Some of the CNAs, including Armando, were particularly kind and always patient. My mom liked things done "her way," and they always accommodated her as much as possible. When you have a family member in a SNF, the key is to visit as often as possible because you know your loved one's normal behavior and functioning best. The first Primary MD my mother was assigned was actually a phenomenal Cedars Sinai-associated doctor. I don't believe that doctor is present there any longer. Also, if you have an issue that isn't quite getting handled in *any* SNF, talk with the director of nursing or administrator. Even though doctors usually talk to the SNF for day-to-day things, you can also ask them to have the Dr call you if you feel it's necessary. If you don't get nasty when things aren't done as you might have expected, and approach these people pleasantly, they will generally work to accommodate any reasonable request.
