This is our first dealing with VOS as we only recently moved to the area, however, this is not the first time we have had Senior/Graduation pictures taken. Our family had Senior photos taken of our oldest son in another state, and those came out beautifully, so I knew what I was looking for. Prior to the photo session for our youngest son, I reached out to VOS and asked them if they would be willing to take graduation photos of my son and his service dog. My son's service dog has been a photographed throughout middle school and high school. She has always been in the school's yearbook, and she has even carried her own student ID card. VOS said they would be happy to take the service dog's photo and also agreed to take several photos of my son with his service dog. VOS asked if I could make sure they school was ok with it, and if the school was, they would take the photos. The first photo session went well, but time was limited, and all of the poses we ordered weren't able to be taken. VOS said they would finish the session on the retake day. I was fine with that as it allowed my son to not become overwhelmed in the chaos. Fast forward to the retake day. We had numerous photos taken of my son with his service dog in the cap and gown. I wanted that specific pose because when my oldest son did his Senior pictures, he was able to have pictures taken with our family dog. A few weeks later, the pictures were available for me to look at and the pictures were perfect! I was able to order the pictures quickly and they were emailed to my inbox. I have to admit, I probably emailed VOS about 10 times asking questions and making sure everyone was on the same page about what I was looking for. VOS was always happy to answer my questions, and help me with the process. VOS made this stressful time extremely easy for us. They even offered for us to come to their studio and have another retake session done if I didn't see a picture I liked. VOS, thank you. We made an in-studio portrait appointment because our son has autism, apraxia (a motor control disorder), and sensory issues, so Picture Day in a loud school gym or other large space with multiple flashes going off simultaneously is like sensory Vietnam for him. It was the day before Thanksgiving, in the evening before they closed, so we arrived early for the appointment (hoping not to be the last pics they had to take before end of day). Studio was spacious, clean, well-appointed. Parking was plentiful and right out front. First, I must commend the photographer; she was exceptional. She even double-checked and said if we didn't mind waiting a week or two for color correction/editing, she could take the pics without a flash. Oh what a godsend!! Not one pic was he anticipating the flash or squinting, cutting down on time and keeping his patience up as we got a few contenders from which to choose. She was quick on the shutter, which was essential to getting a good shot. She took easily 2-3 dozen pics, trying in earnest to get one in which all the stars aligned--eyes looking toward the camera, body facing forward, hands not on or near his face, and the rare still shot when he's not in a constant state of motion. It's a tall order, and she managed to get 3-4 good poses and allowed me to choose which one I liked best online after they had a chance to be edited. I couldn't have been more pleased with all of the accommodations they made for us. The young woman who greeted and coordinated all of the students/parents coming in for their appointments was very personable and helped us get a school ID right then and there, even printing out two cards for us! I highly recommend this studio and this Chantilly location for excellent customer care, quality service, and true patience and understanding of those with special needs. I hope they're the photography vendor for the next 3 years he'll be in high school, because we will go this route every time to ensure great yearbook and family photos. read more

I ordered senior pictures on March 14 and have not received my order as of this date. The studio was contacted in March about my order. And I was told its in the mail. I called again and I believe her name was Emma at x600 she said she put another request in to reprint the pictures. She said it would take up to 15 business days to get this order. She could not expedite the order (have them sent overnight). When I asked to speak to a manager she first said they were not available then said they were in a meeting. How unprofessional can you be? For someone to spend $300 dollars for senior pictures they expect to get them. You should make ever effort to accommodate the customer. Why would your representative ask me to cancel my order. Totally ridiculous. I will be finding a number for corporate to let them know of my dissatisfaction with your company. If anyone would ask me about purchasing pictures from your company I will tell them to find another company who will take ownership and a company who would go out of there way to make the customer feel like they are concerned and will make any effort possible to make a senior special their last year of high school. I also inquired about my other daughter's sports pictures, they said that order was sent out April 2, never received. Go anywhere else for senior photos!! The quality is the same for typical school pictures, but the price is 10x higher. What really put me over the edge was seeing that the photos arrived to me in sheets, meaning I have to cut out all of the wallets and separate all of the photos myself with a pair of scissors. This is a very unprofessionally run studio that got lucky enough to secure contracts with several area high schools. I was completely shocked by the very poor quality by this studio. You will pay less and get MUCH higher quality if you go to a private photographer for your senior's photo shoot. My son hates the pictures and has refused to give them out. He doesn't even want them in his announcements. Also, the idiot photographer insisted that the kids do cap and gown photos BEFORE their casual photos, so their hair was destroyed. if you are taking photographs of teenagers, the hair is very, very important! Here is how this studio scams you. Step one, they get the school to endorse them. Next they take their studio on a road show to the school and get the kids excited to sign up for senior picture appointments with multiple emails. Next, your kids sign up and takes the pictures. BTW, these are below the industry standard as far as quality and the photographers rush your kids along like cattle. Final step Bam!! They show you their pricing and nickel and dime you for edits. The prices are outlandish but now you're kinda stuck because you just thought you completed a fairly substantial task with your child and you don't really want to repeat. Congrats Parents! Horrible Experience: Photographer AND Shoot!! I'd give zero stars if I could. My daughters Senior pictures were horrible not just on the first set BUT for the final second re-takes. The photographer provided no creative direction nor did he position her or frame her shots. It all felt super awkward for according to her...... And stressful for me as a parent wanting everything to be "perfect" for her graduation. I received her photos yesterday, and I am appalled (especially with the money I spent as a single parent) but certainly not surprised. Most, if not all, images were out of focus. If in focus, images were framed or cropped poorly.- Very Unprofessional! I've reached out and have yet to receive a call back. I paid a lot of money for an awkward and stressful session for my daughter and I, and ended up with literally zero images that are usable. To top it off, I experienced the worst customer service. So the senior pictures are exorbitantly priced. Ok, we figured out how to spend less than $150 and got a magnet, a social media resolution download, and a composite with three of the best pictures on thick cardboard. Fast forward a couple of months, and my son decides he'd like to order an additional social media resolution download. This is labeled as an "add-on" on the website, grayed out unless you're ordering a lot more, but I assure him that of course they will let us order an additional $20 photo, especially one that literally costs them nothing, since we already ordered a package and they want our business. That was incorrect. They refused to accommodate us and instead pretended they were, responding to my inquiry: "No problem! Please Use this code for 40% off your next order." When I emailed again (and then called) to clarify that the option for the $20 download was of course still grayed out, I was informed that the coupon was for me to use for the high-resolution option, $95 full price (really, for a single digital download?!), but hey, 40% off! And, she explained, it's a fundraiser for the school! Major customer service FAIL. read more

My son's high school uses VOS for their sports photos. My son's coach has a reputation for being unresponsive, so when I received an email from VOS stating that his photos would be delivered to the school within the next few days, I gave the coach some time because I know he is busy. Well, two weeks later, the season is over and my son still doesn't have his photos. Attempts to reach the coach were unsuccessful (no response), so I contacted VOS directly. I spoke to Joe, who told me that the photos had been delivered to the school two weeks prior, and that due to the coach's lack of response, they would simply print a new package and have it sent to my home address. With three kids, I spend a lot of money on school photos. Mistakes happen and kids take bad photos, and not much can be done about that other than great customer service. read more

They took 3 pictures of me at my high school graduation on May 19, 2020. They are okay quality. I looked at the photos on their website and the price is $50 for 3 digital downloads. We think they are overpriced and expensive. We could buy them, but we are choosing not to. My family took other photos of me at the ceremony for free with our phones. Photos came distorted and VOS makes you pay to ship them back! My daughter's photos had a warp on the side of her face. I emailed pictures of it to VOS Extreme Sports, they agreed, and then told me the company policy is to make the buyer repackage and pay for shipping the defective photos back. Update- a customer service representative reached out and clarified that this was not their policy. They are replacing the photos and throwing in a bonus one. Much better! read more

Extremely disappointed in my daughter's senior cap & gown pictures due to a poor choice of backgrounds by the photographer. Choosing a black background for a black cap and gown is ridiculous and results in it looking like she is a floating head and would be even worse had I not insisted she wear the white collar (her sister's) which is not normally included in the picture. Similarly they posed her with the casual white foam props in front of a white background so you can't see them at all and it looks like she is leaning into midair. When I first wrote to the studio regarding my disappointment they told me my daughter should say something to the photographer about the background. Why should a child tell a "professional" photographer not to pose someone wearing black in front of a black background? Plus, she thought that they could change the background to another color during processing as we have always had that option from other schools. They also told me to contact them after mid-September for a retake; I just did (9/30) and they told me to reach out "later in October". How's that for treating someone who they expect to drop hundreds of dollars for senior portraits? Finally I absolutely hated the extreme sports look taken of her softball team this past year. They take individual photos of the team members and then Photoshop them together with some graphical background rather than their home field. It looks awful. I would much rather have the team standing together and interacting like normal human beings than Photoshopped together. read more

Outrageously expensive. Total monopoly. There is no way I'm not going to get my child's pictures. Therefore I am stuck paying a lot of money AND shipping AND tax. Called to ask about some packages, left a voicemail, but never got a callback. Called again and a nice lady was able to help me with some questions I had, but of course there's nothing she could do about the price or shipping cost. The photo session was a nice and quick experience though. Looks like we will be in the school system for the next eight years. I know they handle a good bit of school photography in this area but from the way I was treated, it was like I was in Mayberry, and I was their very special guest. Off centered and horrible angles. Had to pay an outside professional to have portraits done but they were a quarter of the price. Very disappointed in their senior photos. Very surprised that the photographer did not notice my daughter's shirt collar was tucked inside. Hair was messy from graduation hat and the heat inside the school, many awkward and strange poses. My Mom reviewed my sister's pictures but I love my team photos are super! As a Junior in Highschool, I am very pleased.

Charges $7 shipping for a flimsy envelope and wont offer to ship to the school for free even if they are doing make-up photos later in the month. Daughters 5×7 were ok but the 8x10 is zoomed so far in all you see is her head and neck, looks sadly hilarious in a bad way. I didn't zoom in or change anything on the photo when I ordered so not sure how that happened. Looking at the photos that are available to choose, it appears that the photographers are not very professional. Case in point it appears they are not using the correct lighting as several photos show shines throughout the photo. Backdrops are not always set correctly behind the subject. Also, as we were told to choose outfits to bring to the photo shoot. Which we did, however on the day of the shoot, we were not allowed to use them. The photo shoot was rushed and everyone involved in the shoot was very pushy. I've read that they do a basic retouch of all the photos before sending them out, well at the cost the photos will cost i would figure they would do more than just click auto correct on all the photos. read more

If you're looking for natural poses and photos, hire a personal photographer. I am not a fan of the fake backgrounds or photoshop placed on my sports photos, and the photographer's refusal to allow a different pose on the photos that ***I am purchasing*** was extremely frustrating. We ordered a sports package that was taken for my son's high school soccer team. These are extreme sports photos which is the only option. My son who is one of the shorter players looks several inches taller than the other players in the team photo. He has the goalies arms going across him which looks altered and 3 weirdly placed soccer balls. There is a team picture taken for the yearbook but we only have the option of the extreme sports one. I would strongly prefer an option for a team photo that is not altered. The individual shot was poorly done and my son looks like he is glaring at the camera. The photographer told him to look serious. Only one shot was taken and no retakes for sports photos even if it is just the individual picture. I can return but shipping is on me and I have no photos. read more

Let's talk about senior photos first. The cheapest possible thing to purchase was a handful of wallets (like 8 i think) for $50.00. This isn't some major photo shoot. This is your standard kid goes to school and gets their picture taken in a black drape for the yearbook. I can afford their insane prices (but chose not to be ripped off) but many many cannot. Next lets talk about my child's sports photos. She has played soccer for 4 years. Every year I get a perfectly nice normal photo of my child and her team. This year however they have "Extreme" sports photos. What's so extreme about them? Well it must be that parents are "EXTREMELY" p.o.'d with having no choice but a cheesy Photoshopped background and a digital "frame" with writing over top the team photo. I mean thank goodness they labeled it with my daughters school and varsity soccer. I never would have known otherwise. The fake looking background over which they superimposed the players is a fake looking soccer field. I mean at least go down to the real field and take a photo. Lastly the "photographer" took the photo of at least my child straight on and from slightly below. In other words one of the least flattering ways to take a photo to the point that any article on how to take better photos tells you not to do that. Maybe fake backgrounds are some peoples thing - so make it OPTIONAL. This is who the school has an agreement with so it's them or nothing. read more

We ordered a team photo and instead had a very tacky photoshopped group picture of SOME of the team. If they didn't purchase a photo, they were excluded from what they are now calling the team photo.
