I moved out looking forward to independence and enjoying a new chapter of life living with my best friend while working FT. Within the first week I started noticing massive two pronged bites on my arms and found BED BUGS crawling from the vents/floorboards when spraying orthomax (that I bought myself) in my bedroom. Snowball, the pest control vendor Ten31 supplies, found no signs of infestation on my belongings nor my roommates a single time they have visited. We continued to find grown bed bugs on a couple other occasions where snowball had to continue to come out and I had to throw away personal belongings due to fear of infestation. We noticed simultaneously that our neighboring unit was extremely disgusting and looked to be a hoarding situation just from seeing through their windows from the parking lot. They had a notice on the door which I did not read due to trespass, and they were never to be seen within a week. They left all of their belongings and we witnessed workers going in and out of their apartment completely gutting it with full body protection, masks, and gloves. It is very obvious these bugs were coming through the vents from these unkept neighbor's unit. A few months go by we thought the problem was over but I found yet ANOTHER bed bug by the vent. At this point we have contacted our property managers boss, Angela Shade, who has done nothing to help the situation. I forwarded her the 20+ emails had with our property manager showing all the pictures of spider bites and bugs with clear shots of them next to the floorboards and vents that connect to the neighboring units bedroom. She continued to claim we hitchhiked one in however this is scientifically impossible stating we noticed several adults within the first 2 weeks of moving in with picture evidence, and if in the slim to none possibility we brought one from our parents/childhood homes, they could not multiply nor grow to an adult that quickly. Last week, we came home to our apartment torn apart with my linens bedding all over the floor, along with my roommates and other personal belongings misplaced. We received no notice or request for anyone to enter our apartment, not to mention I had to heat treat all of my bedding before going to bed just to be safe. We are very good tenants who have never missed a payment and we have done everything in our power to vacuum and clean our apartment very often and consistently yet the problem reoccurred. Not to mention our AC was out for over 5 days without anyone answering our maintenance request. We were advised to shut living room vents to support airflow upstairs....? We had to gut our rooms and deep clean when finding the most recent bug under 80 degree temperatures, being even hotter upstairs in our bedroom where we were deep cleaning. Angela refuses to let us leave our lease and we have to continue living in these unsafe conditions through our term with no apologies from her regarding these issues along with her having no comment on the matter of people entering our apartment without consent or warning. DO NOT LIVE HERE. We are now considering taking legal action to break our lease with no fees for the 4 months we have left. Towne Properties did not supply us with habitable housing despite our cooperation and extra money and time we have spent trying to help fix the situation. Ashley only offered us to break lease for over $6,000 after already having to lose several sentimental items and extra money to laundry mats, sprays, and items lost to the problems they allowed. On top of these issues, we also have had electric bills over $300 in the winter, an outlet in a crucial spot of our home they refuse to fix after putting in work orders for it, and know another tenant within Ten31 who had ice forming inside their bedroom, soaking their bed from poor heat management. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere!
