If you like fish & chips, these guys do it very well.
Massive portions in a very casual setting. There's nothing fancy at this place, and to be honest if I'm going to a fish & chip spot, that's what I want to see.
The service was good, and three orders were served in less than 10 minutes after order. The staff here were fantastic - very funny and down to earth. I suppose it's what you come to expect from the smaller, mom & pop type restaurants here in Nova Scotia!
The food was great. The fish was fresh, and the fries were home made. The fish wasn't fried in a heavy batter, which I found refreshing. It flaked apart and was certainly a fair size. I ordered the special of the day, which included their battered haddock and scallops with fries. I can say that the scallops were also delicious, deep friend in the same batter as the haddock. I'm not very big on the type of fries that this type of restaurant typically serves because I feel that they're overly saturated with oil. I had the same feeling here, but I know more people enjoy this type of fry as opposed to the ones at a fast food spot. If you're one of these people, and you enjoy seafood, then I'm sure you would absolutely love it here.
To note: This place serves only Coke, not Pepsi. But, they serve it in the way it was meant to be served: in the glass bottle. I thought this was a great touch, especially for a classic fish & chips joint. read more
