    So cute

My partner wanted to eat at the breakfast place up the road but there was a long wait and you had to stand in a line outside. I decided to take a walk and see what else might be available and found this place open with empty tables down the street. I peaked in and viewed a menu and was happy to see they offered a vegan brunch option, everyone seemed super friendly so I went to convince him we should eat here instead. It took me a minute once we were seated to realize that most of the employees were wearing onesies with the zippers open quite a bit, looking around I now realized this must be a gay bar. I suppose the name probably should have given it away, but not being from the area I had no idea in advance. I really love the decorations of the place and it is quite warm and inviting inside. The table next to us was a family with older children so clearly this a place people feel comfortable bringing their families. The drink menu was expensive, but had many fun sounding drinks. I enjoyed my Dad E Licious and ordered the vegan breakfast hash (I love brussell sprouts, why aren't these part of breakfast more often). My food was super tasty and such a nice surprise over other boring vegan breakfast options. I can't recall what my partner had but he enjoyed his food and drinks as well. Service was not incredibly fast, but after awhile we realized this was because we had come slightly before a free drag show. It was busy and they were probably bringing food out slowly so that people had time to eat while enjoying the show. While it was not our original intention we certainly ended up staying for the show and had a great time. What a fun, unexpected surprise. I will definitely come back here on my next visit and hopefully be able to check out comedy or bingo.

This was such an amazing experience! The service was amazing (and that's even during a brunch time show). The server/mixologist was very attentive and made a personal experience for our group. The food was absolutely incredible! Great portions and everything we all ordered was picture perfect as if plated for food critics. The ambiance/environment was such a positive one. The staff and patrons alike had the most uplifting and joyful vibes. We all were there to have a good time and we most certainly enjoyed ourselves. The drinks were unique and phenomenal! The show was a must see! Comic and entertaining, thoughtful yet exhilarating!! 100 stars!

Our waiter was super sweet and attentive without being overbearing, which was quite the feat with how busy the place was.

TL;DR: Chaotic, fun, and not for everyone. Go for a show,…read morestay longer than planned. If you're nearby and there's a drag show, it's worth going. It's fun, different, and a welcome disruption to the usual Victoria vibe. Vibe: Wizard of Oz-themed gay bar with zero subtlety. Loud, campy, and a sharp contrast to the rest of Victoria's generally polite energy. Not really a place straight couples need to linger unless there's a show. Drinks: Strong and fast. These are drinks, not cocktails, and that's exactly right for the room. Entertainment: We caught a Taylor Swift-themed drag show. I'm very much not a Swift fan, my girlfriend is, and we both had a good time. The performers carried the night. What could be better: If there's no show, the appeal drops fast unless this is already your scene.

This may be a gay bar by night, but there's nothing queer about the brunch menu here, folks!…read more My wife and I spotted this place the night before, when it was lit up in all manner of multichromatic madness, gleaming and glittering gaily, with pulse-pounding tunes pouring down the adjacent alleyway. The interior décor intrigued me, but as we had our toddler son with us, we couldn't enter during the "adult" hours, but we resolved to return in the morning for their legendary "best brunch in Victoria". Did it live up to its reputation? YAAAS QUEEN, SLAY those taste buds! My wife ordered the Homemade Maple Bacon, drizzled in mezcal cheese and accompanied by similarly glitzed-up scrambled eggs, roti flatbread, and a light salad with vinaigrette. After waffling back and forth over two dishes, I went with the ambiguously named "Tomatoes" which, as expected included tomatoes, of course, resting on a bed of a soft, moist cheese similar to queso fresco, dressed in chili crunch oil with peanuts and topped with spinach. It was wonderful, with my only regret being there wasn't enough of it. I had decided against the Steak and Eggs, as I'd wanted something lighter for breakfast, but in the end, what I'd ordered was a little too light for me. No matter; I helped the wife finish her meal as well, so everything worked out! I will say, though, that menus that lean in a little too far into brevity when it comes to the description of their entrées for the sake of being cute should probably rethink this strategy, and in all honesty, $16 CAD is a little steep for a dish this paltry in size, no matter how good it is. Alright, I've been enough of a basic bitch about nitpicky things, so let's put a bow on this review, slap its backside and send it on it's way! The "Lions, Tigers and Bears" cocktail was a frisky, refreshing take on my favorite, the Old Fashioned, and my pregnant wife's (virgin) Caesar may have been Bloody Mary-red, but it left me green with envy after a couple sips! I would be hard-pressed to choose between the view on our (inevitable) return visit to Victoria which, I hope, will be far sooner than later. For now, we'll be somewhere over the rainbow back home, waiting for a tornado to whisk us up and fling us back over the border. Vancouver may be the true Emerald City, but the yellow brick road leads directly to Friends of Dorothy in Victoria!

Such a fun experience finally checking out both the Seattle and Puerto Vallarta locations of CC's!…read moreIt's been so cool to see how each spot has its own vibe while still bringing that same high-energy, super-fun atmosphere. There's a huge central bar and plenty of seating, plus multiple semi-private rooms that make it perfect for groups. The bartenders are polished and professional - serving just the right amount of cool tsundere realness. I especially love the "balcony," such a great touch paying homage to their original location. It really ties the whole experience together.

CW: SA, PTSD discussion…read more I think it's time I give more specifics on why I stopped patronizing this particular bar. Enough time has passed. From March 2023 to August 2024, I was a regular patron at CC's. It's the closest bar to my apartment. I came regularly to their Gaymer Nights. I never raised an issue or did anything to get kicked out of the bar. But I choose not to go back. On August 17, 2024, I was SA'd at one of their Funderwear Nights by a person I met through SEA-PAH. At the time, I was so shocked and embarrassed that I kept quiet about it for months. After speaking about it afterward with that person, and with others in SEA-PAH, two things were clear to me: one, that he would not take accountability for what he did, and two, that if given an opportunity, he would absolutely do it again. Considering CC's is a bar this person visits regularly, I raised a serious safety concern with the venue's security. My understanding from that conversation was that the bar would not issue a BOLO for this person because the assault happened on the sidewalk rather than literally inside the bar. Which makes zero sense. We were only outside because this person got me high and isolated me from the venue. CC's regularly hosts and profits from events that are cruisey and high-octane, in a dark venue with stiff drinks. I had two before going outside. What I'm trying to say here is that the venue created an environment where I was assaulted, then hid behind a legal technicality in a way that felt like avoiding action or liability. Venues that profit off sex and substance use should not just believe survivors of assault; they should take steps to prevent assault from occurring. Assault is always the fault of the perpetrator, but venues also have a hand in creating a safe environment. I've seen them kick people out before for this, so what was different about this scenario? Especially since a separate venue that used to host my abuser caught wind of what occurred and cancelled his events. Since the event, I've had to rebuild my relationship to kink, find better friends, and take a major step back from nightlife. Ultimately this was for the best, but it wasn't originally my choice when it should have always been my choice. I could not go to CC's afterward without feeling on edge. Especially since the bar, as I noted in my previous review, is infamous for having guys grope and touch you. And it seems that recently they stopped issuing out free water. With stiff drinks, in a hot dark room, during events where people are taking off their clothes...make it make sense. CC's now hosts SEA-PAH socials, and the person who SA'd me claims in a public review that he prefers to go there. Me, on the other hand? I lost trust in a major Seattle institution. I couldn't trust them to handle my sexual safety concerns in a way that made me feel protected as a patron. I cannot recommend this bar to anyone who needs venues to have clear accountability around sexual misconduct.
