We bought our popup from here and the sale went great. However, when the lift motor broke for the 2nd time in 5 years, we took it in for service. Vicar's had our trailer for 13 weeks and never once contacted us about repairs needed. When they FINALLY called to tell us that the repair was complete (13 weeks later), we were out of town. Finally picked it up and they were rude and defensive. Also, the brake line was broken. When that was pointed out, they said "it wasn't on the work order". We NEVER Got a work order! Just opened the storage section of the camper and there was 10" of water in it. We will NEVER do business with them again. read more

We bought a travel trailer from Vicars and took delivery of it on June 9th 2022. Sales person Sandy was told that we are moving and what address to mail the paperwork. They still sent the paperwork to the old address. Now the paperwork the is "lost". It is now July 18th and have not not been able to use the camper since the temporary tag expired. They said they put a trace on the missing paperwork and it is just "missing", however the post office said that fedex doesn't have tracking ability on mailed paperwork and the mail man would have taken all of the mail from my old address and they return fedex parcels to the sender....that being "Vicars Trailer Sales.". I got a voice message from "Vicky" telling me they've done everything they're going to do to help the situation. and that I could just go the Secretar of State and file for a lost title. Now that's what I call great customer service. Thanks for nothing Vicky and Sandy. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to stear clear of Vicars Trailer Sales in Taylor. I will never do any business with Vickars. Now I have a $17,000 camper sitting in my yard that I cannot use, until I spend my time and now extra money at the Secretary of State for a "lost" title. Owner was RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL I would NOT recommend purchasing from Vicars for the soul reason of the owner. Backstory: At the time of the initial purchase of a trailer (in February) it was noted that we will be purchasing and bringing our own hitch for the trailer, as they did not sell the specific hitch that we wanted. At the time of pick up, the owner told us we could not put our own hitch on to take our camper home. She would not let us use a tool or install it on her lot. The hitch has sway bars and is impossible to hook on prior without the trailer present (as they have to be mounted to the trailer itself.) When the owner heard this, she would not accommodate or would help us in any way. We were very understanding of liability issues, but she made it almost impossible to get the camper off the lot with our own hitch. And Instead of trying to help or accommodate us (like most business owners would) she was rude and talked to us in a condensending tone. Her tone and attitude towards us was like nothing I have ever experienced as a customer. Especially after spending 20k on a unit. Also, at the time of initial purchase we were told we would receive a 10% discount in any purchases made in store the day of pick up. We wanted to purchase a back up camera and other things, but were told if we waited we could get it for a better deal. So, the day of pick up they said they will not give us a discount due to "COVID" and instead, the camera was $100 more expensive than the tag stated. We were never given the 10% discount, which we swept under the bus because at this point we were fed up with the owner and wanted to leave. Her attitude towards us was SO bad and disrespectful that we eventually brought it to her attention the way she was treating us. She wouldn't even acknowledge the disrespect she showed us. After that she continued to follow us around and try to micromanage every move. While we were at Vicars for our 3 hour timeframe, I also overheard her talking to other customers in the same rude tone. It wasn't a problem with anyone else there. The sales people, the parts men and the lady behind the counter were all kind and respectful. It was the owner of Vicars that was disrespectful and had a poor attitude. I want to give a specific shout out to Anthony our sales guy, Justin who helped with the sale on the initial purchase date, and John who walked us through the demo. They are all accommodating, helpful and very kind. I truly feel for her employees because they were more than helpful and understanding and I hope and pray that they find employeement where they will not be embarrassed by their boss for the way she treats their customers. This review is strictly on the attitude and customer service we received directly from the OWNER. Blaming COVID for the way she was acting is NO EXCUSE and is unacceptable. So, again I would NOT recommend purchasing from Vicars for the soul reason of the owner. I will be sure to tell EVERY CAMPER owner that I come across, to stay clear of Vicars BECAUSE of the owner. read more

Vicars Trailer Sales - We're happy campers - Trailer Dealers Near Me - Taylor, Michigan

First experience was not a good one. After being told the best price, the numbers seemed off for a total purchase price. I was told there is a $ 1000 "freight fee", a $ 1500 prep fee, $ 40 to install a 2 bolt battery ( seems to me that is prep ) $ 80 for a battery as well as taxes and title. While I understand the cost of goods and services has increased over the past few years, $ 1500 to prep a brand new 40,000 camper seems egregious. It should be water tested etc, for customer satisfaction. I also understand that trade ins need to be flipped for a profit, but an offer of $ 9000 below base, no options NADA low retail value was disappointing. read more

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they are far from exceptional. My family purchased our travel trailer from Vicars in 2018 and the experiences our family has had are wonderful. We really felt valued when we purchased the trailer, some would argue a "part of the family." Last year after some minor damage, the service desk guy (cannot remember his name) was awesome. He talked me through the situation and guided me in the right direction. That was 2018. 2019 was a whole new experience. Earlier this year we took some damage to our awning. Like a loyal customer, I called up Vicars. I was told to fix one arm, I had to pay for the whole set because they can't order just one. They didn't keep any in stock so they said to call Camping World instead. I did just that and Camping World was actually able to order a single arm from the manufacturer and all was good. We are taking it there to have it installed soon. Although I was redirected to Camping World, I still thought I should use Vicars for winterization this year. I called in mid October and asked when I should bring it in. I was told, "You can make it until early December. Really the only issue comes after the temperature has been below freezing for multiple days." I then asked for a Friday appointment because it would line up nicely with my work schedule. That day came and I took it in. Sadly, the early winter came and they said my pump was frozen. They needed to thaw it out to get the antifreeze in. Even said they were putting a space heater in to help it thaw. I was appreciative they were going to keep poking away to make it happen. Throughout the visit, staff was great! Had good conversation about beer, repairing a door and how dogs can be crazy when left alone. Overall seemed quite positive. The young gentleman I referenced above was kind and asked if there was anything he could get me. I said there wasn't but said I'd like to wrap this up. He said he was going to find his manager and see what's going on. Another man from the back came out and seemed rather annoyed to come and tell me he filled an LP tank so he could fire up the heaters. Not sure why he came across that way, but no big deal, right? Not long later I told them I needed to get home to fix my furnace and wanted to know if I could just leave and come back when it was finished. They were cool. No issues. About an hour later I got a phone call that it was done. I was glad until they said, "I'm going to have to charge you $98 because of the labor and LP fill." That's where it went south. I never had the illusion that work is free. I did, however, already pay $99 just to schedule the appointment, at a time they said would be well within the damage prevention window. As I thought about it, I realized nobody ever made a single mention of a) filling the LP tank or b) charging extra for additional thaw time. So let's summarize that. While we were in fairly regular conversation, neither of those topics were discussed prior to extending the service. I was a bit annoyed but not to a point of saying I am not going to pay. Never once said that. When I showed up, the manager Nick, who was previously super cool, walked up and said he understood I was upset. I quickly reassured him saying I was not upset, but wanted to understand why I was never told. He then walked away visibly frustrated and when I looked to the owner, she came over and wasn't interested in solving the situation. In fact, she said, "He should be charging you 3 hrs of labor because you waited too late to bring it in." To which, I let her know it was her staff who told me it was a safe time. The point is, they seem to drop their customer service and tact when conversation extends into areas where they were wrong. I'd be absolutely happy to have paid and even tipped the guys for helping, but the poor attitude and utter lack of professionalism from management and the owner was enough to walk away. I'm sure this message will return some rebuttal of "you can't expect free.." or whatever, but that was never the expectation. As a consumer, I am 100% entitled to any statement of charge prior to services rendered. Integrity can do wonders for growing your base. Even if I was missing a message in our conversation, the behavior and tone was not what one should have with any customer. I am happy to amend the review if they can improve. read more

We purchased a ROO 21SS from Vicar's in March of 2015. And after 18 months, 6,000 miles, and 50+ nights on the road we couldn't be happier with both the ROO and the staff at Vicar's. We shopped the Novi camper shows for over four years, peppering Vicar's sales manager, Justin, with every question that we could come up with regarding trailers that would fit our style, travel plans, tow vehicle & budget. Not once did he seem exasperated when we failed to pull the trigger after repeated showings of various units and abundant questions from my wife and I. And when we did decide to buy, Vicars had the best OTD price by a long shot. Vicky closed the purchase, which was smooth and painless, with no surprises. They then set up a date that fit our calendar for pick up, a tutorial on the systems, and the installation of the trailer hitch. (The hitch is a Husky Centerline TS, and I'm very impressed with it.) We also received a 10% discount on all trailer accessories that we bought that day As they say, 'So far, so good.' We're very happy with the products and professional staff at Vicars. I don't believe that we'll be buying a new rig anytime soon, but if we do, Vicars will be the first place we shop. read more

Purchased my tent trailer from Vicars in February 2015. Felt I received a pretty good deal. Had Vicars install all the electrical which I thought was a bit pricey but oh well didn't feel like driving all over town looking for the cheapest rate. Gave me a discount on the prep charge, orignial $1400 but knocked of $600 which again I thought was a bit much to have one of their technicians make sure everything is working properyly. First time using the camper over the 4th of July weekend everything worked great except the canopy which was incorrectly installed by the manufacturer. Scheduled an appointment with Vicars to reattach the canopy brackets correctly for use. Second camping trip canopy looked good, problem corrected. Moving forward to the ride home and my right turn signal/brake light did not work. The light worked when turning car lights on but no turn signal or brake light. Obviouly a short in the wire running to the brake light. Scheduled another appointment to repair short in brake light. Took the camper back to Vicars...assumed it would be warrantied since Ive had it 5 months and used the camper twice. Nope! was charged parts and labor. Apparently the original module put in by Vicars shorted out causing the failure. Talked to the head tech and explained I should not be responsible for this since the first one installed 5 months ago shorted out. He said unfortunately there is only a 3 month warranty but did give me a discount on parts and labor. I guess I should of pressed it a bit more and spoke with the owner but it was only $90 and I just wanted to get out of there. So needless to say I've used the camper twice and have been back in for service twice. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. I will say the staff is very friendly, the sales guy Justin was very helpful and explained alot to me as a first time camper. First time camper buyer and picked up our camper today. The whole staff was great to deal with, friendly and helpful without being pushy at all. Justin, our salesperson, was great. We were on a budget and had to stay within the weight limits of our tow vehicle. Justin showed us several examples that met our needs and gave us some good advice. Of course, being new to RVs we had tons of questions and he patiently and thoroughly answered them for us. He beat our credit union loan rates too which hardly ever happens. He very thoroughly explained all of the costs (hitches, wiring, brake controllers, etc.) so we need exactly what we were paying for. Very pleased. The Service Manager (Chris, I think) did our walk around (PDI) and explained everything thoroughly and shared several lessons learned and things not to do. Took his time and we did not feel rushed at all. The work on our tow vehicle was well done also. Overall, we really could not be more pleased so far. Hopefully we won't need much in the way of service or warranty work. The prices on accessories was very comparable to the chain stores and online, cheaper on some items. read more

After running the gauntlet of salespersons and RVs at both Novi RV shows this past season it seemed that everyone was trying to sell us more than we needed in a camping trailer. Then we came upon Vicars. What a wonderful experience that turned out to be. We felt comfortable right from the start working with Justin, he talked to us, took us on a tour of the displays, even had the technicians pull a trailer into the garage at the dealership for us to check out a model in comfort, and we found the trailer with just a few bells and whistles to best suit our needs. Knowledgeable techs who walked us through the set up process and dog friendly to boot! A wonderful experience from start to finish. read more

We found a unit that we liked but once financial numbers were being thrown around, we felt that we were mislead on total financed price. We were not made known of these "hidden" fees until we had a credit app done and over 50% of the total trailer price was added to the financed price. Gentleman on the phone was very polite, asked his service guy for more info when he didn't know, and was able to provide a referral (General RV) when he said they didn't do much with fifth wheels (installation or service). Bought a 2018 ForestRiver Cherokee over the winter but didn't place it on our permanent site till last week. First the kitchen faucet only had a trickle of water, then the next day the circuit board to the water heater burnt up. When we notified Vicars not only did we receive an attitude but we were told we had to bring it to them for any repairs or we would have to pay for a service call which they don't supply. We dropped almost 30 grand at Vicars and they do not even come close to pleasing their customers after the purchase. I will never recommend Vicors. Beware of Vicars. read more

Vicars doesn't care one bit about their customers. Long story short , on the day we picked up our trailer the prep guy rushed through the demonstration and failed to tell us to not back up the trailer with the sway bar. The words sway bar never left his mouth. We were happily driving down the expressway and after the third honk from trucks pointing at our trailer we pulled over. One of the little doors was open. My husband said, "this doesn't look right". The sway hitch was bent. From Taylor to Novi we never back up. Remember, we were not told this. Anyway, we continued on our way because we were not sure if that was what it was supposed to look like. Eventually, when we got to our campsite, we backed up. Lots of noise. Called Vicars and talked to a female with the last name Vicars. Forgot her first name but will never forget her gravely, rough voice as she argued with my husband and me. She insisted that we were told. She wasn't there so how can she be sure. We argued back and forth. I asked her if it would be possible that someone could make a mistake at her establishment and she had the nerve to say "No, no one makes mistakes"...Wow, a staff of perfection. So, we had to get a new sway bar, paid for by us,(the owner was really clear that no way were they paying for it)and to make it better we got a equalizer hitch for an additional $500 at a different trailer company. On any bad reviews vicars leaves a saccharin syrupy reply implying that the customer is a fault. Also, they charged us over $1000 for the prep, and $500 for shipping even though the trailer was on the lot. They charge that for each trailer. I love our trailer but could kick myself for going to Vicars. Be warned. read more

We are first time camper buyers and Vicars made the entire process easy, from a down payment at the camper show 6 months ago to picking it up for our first trip this weekend, all the staff at Vicars have been great. Justin made the purchase easy, Doug helped with accessorizing including a custom bumper for our bike rack, and Chris made sure we had the right trailer brakes to tow it down the road and got it done as fast as we needed. Still waiting to see where this goes. I took my boat trailer there because I was in a hurry to get it fixed. What a mistake up to this point. I was initially told an hour of work, it has now been three weeks. I drove it there, but was told I could not drive it out. I found cheaper repair, but had no way to get it there. I now have a boat sitting on jack stands for what I am told could be up to a month why I wait for a new axle. The axle could have been repaired for $125 if I could have got it out of there the way I brought it. I will update the outcome. Update: Vicars did what I hoped they would do. After speaking with Nick in the back of house, got on the phone and got the answers I needed. When the part came in, they installed it quickly and got me up and running. Salesperson was a hinderance not a help. Paid over $800 to get my brand new trailer prepped, only to have it delivered to me with a leak that was certainly not new since it rusted out a scissor jack. What exactly did I pay for? I saw it immediately. They could not have cared less since it was delivered 800 miles away and would not return my calls. read more

Honestly our sales guy and some of the folks at the service desk are helpful and professional. The problem here lies with the owner, Sandy in particular. We had our camper in for warranty work and when the camper was yet to be fixed she demanded that I come get my camper off their property cuz they are overcrowded. I said it's not fixed and u expect me to pick up a defective camper? She then stated I hv 24hrs to get it or they will leave it outside the gate and report it abandoned. Unbelievable the nerve of a owner after I spent 34,000 and gave them my business. Unprofessional, rude, nasty woman with no business sense. Fully regret going to Vicars. Take your money elsewhere cuz they don't deserve it. Also tons of reviews around the Web from the forest river forums and others about the owners, just wish I would hv looked beforehand. read more

The service department here listened to my concerns and documented repairs needed and actually showed me another repair that was needed with my step. Could not be more satisfied with our entire process of buying a travel trailer from Vicars. Justin is extremely knowledgeable and was patient while we made a decision. He was able to answer every question and never made us feel pressured. The parts team and service people are the nicest most patient group of people I've dealt with. We recently had a horrible experience trying to purchase a new travel trailer from Vicars trailer sales. Here is our story you may want to pass on to anyone you know who goes camping to help them avoid the same rotten service we received. This past February we went to the RV show to look at campers. We found a unit we liked and met the sales person who happen to be one of the owners of Vicars. While not over friendly she seemed polite enough and we like the units she had on "show special". We were not sure if we were ready to buy, but gave her a small refundable deposit to hold a unit for a week or two while we made a decision. A day or so later while doing some research on the trailer (which is a Forest River Rockwood Roo) I found a Roo camper that had more options and a better price than Vicars was offering. As our deposit was refundable I wanted to be up front with Vicars so I told her I would not be purchasing a unit from her as we found one we liked better and at a better price. She asked where, I told her it was a little further, but we liked the unit and the price. She right away guessed the dealership I was going to purchase it from and had some bad things to say about them and how they were under cutting other dealers. She then said she wanted our business and would match there price. I stated she did not have to do that and that was not my intention for her to do. She was upset at that dealership and would not want me to go there with my business. I told her if she was willing to match the offer I would love to give her our business. She called a couple hours later to let me know she could do the deal only for about $200 more. We agreed. The following day we went to Vicars to order the unit and give her a deposit. After we filled out the paper work and paid a $2,000 deposit. She shook our hand and said "You are nothing but a number to me now because I am not making any money off you". We were taken back by this rude comment, but thought she had a long day and was maybe just a little tired because she had informed us of all the sales she had closed that day. Our new camper was to be in by the end of April. We were very excited about our new camper, but worried about the delivery with her. May 4th we got a call from another sales person at Vicars saying the camper came in and it came in as a 2017 model. We set an appointment for the following week and he texted me the amount needed to pay the balance off in full (which was the price agreed on by the owner). The following Wednesday we went in to do our demo/inspection PDI and were taken by our sales lady (the owner) to the back lot, we walked into the camper and it looked beautiful. Right away the owner said it came in as a 2017 and we had to pay $400 more. I told her that did not seem right, as we had an agreement. She pretty much said too bad that was the way it was. She said the 2017 had a bathroom upgrade to the shower and they installed shower doors on the 2017 instead of a curtain that was on the 2016. I informed her that the 2016 she had on "show special" we looked at had the shower doors. She told me NO it did not. I told her it was one of the reasons my wife liked the unit. She stated we must have seen another dealers unit. I told her she was the only dealer at the show who had a rockwood roo on display. She told me I was wrong. I opened the brochure I got from her at the show and showed her a picture of the shower doors, she ignored it. After consulting with my wife for a moment and deciding to pay the $400 up charge. We still have not even looked around the unit yet when the sales lady looked at us and said "well does it have everything you wanted on it?" I said I would like to look it over and check it out she said we could do it when they did the demonstration with us after the paper work was done and she got payment. I told her I was not comfortable with signing the papers till I inspected the camper she said "That was the way they do business" I told her I was not wanting to argue with her and we just wanted to have a good and happy experience. I told her I wanted to give her a great review about our experience and refer others to them, I told her there was some not so good reviews on the forest river site I saw. She stated she did not care about reviews or referrals that she's been selling trailers for 30 years and that was the way she does business. By now my wife was so upset she was crying. The owner said we had to do the paper work before the PDI and stated if not maybe she should just give us back our deposit. By now there was nothing I could want more than to get away from this CALLOUS person. With my wife in tears we walked back to the sales office and got our deposit back and left. I believe that was her intention all along, to be so rude to us so we would walk away just so we did not use the competition. What a horrible experience dealing with Vicky, the owner, at the RV show yesterday. All I heard what from her was what a great salesperson she was and what a thriving business she has. If that's true, it's certainly not due to HER being a salesperson. After she gave us a price on an RV my husband asked for her to go over what was included in the price on paper. She was totally rude and wanted nothing to do with him. Who wants to sell you an RV for 20 grand and not want to put the details on paper? She did inform him that she was the "Queen of Rockwoods". Who acts like that? THEN, when I asked why she was so rude to my husband she became aggressive and approached me asking "do you want to hit me?" As I walked away she continued saying I was classless and trashy. She also said "I'm from Taylor but not from Taylortucky. I wear shoes on my feet." Nice insult to the people of Taylor. Wow.. .what a sad, old woman who was clearly trying to antagonize me. Thank God I found a RV somewhere else. That would have been a nightmare. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM VICARS!! **WARNING** Vicars Trailer Sales on Pelham Rd in Taylor Michigan are con-artists. They falsely advertise their pricing just to get you in the door so they can just jack up the price on you. We recently went to their establishment to look at a Forest River Rockwood Ultra Light unit that they had listed for $15,900. When we sat down with Justin, one of their associates, the ending total that he said we owed was over $19,000. When we asked why we weren't just paying $15,900 (their advertised price) plus tax, he said they added in $2,500 so they weren't losing money AND they added in over $1,450 for their "prep fee". It doesn't cost $1,450 to wash a trailer! They falsely advertise one price to get you in the door and then they add ridiculous fees and amounts so they can make more profit! They are not to be trusted and have very poor business practices. Especially in this day and age, when people work hard for their time and money, I think it's terrible that this establishment tries to take advantage of their consumers and that they try to trick you with false prices. We saw another review just like this one, where they tried it with another customer, too. There are plenty of other businesses out there that you can trust and that are reliable.
