Watford Colosseum

Watford Colosseum

Despite being not all that far from me, I've never been to the Watford Colosseum…read more We had tickets to see Katherine Ryan (side note - her Glitter Room tour is made up of a LOT of stuff that's already in the Netflix special). They were really reasonably priced, like £15 each, so off we went. Now the lost star is because without a car, it's a palaver to get here. It's a 15 or 20 minute walk from either Watford tube or Watford Junction station. We took an Uber from Watford tube and it was £5. Inside the Colosseum is, supposedly, a restaurant and a place with bar-type food. We didn't come across these but did quickly find what they called street food, which was a guy in a street food tent inside the building selling fish & chips, chicken strips & chips, and chicken curry with rice. The chips were actually really good and it was only like £6.50 for a large portion of chips with some fish. There were plenty of places to sit and eat and the time passed quickly before the auditorium opened. We had stalls tickets which were chairs on a flat floor, but the stage is raised so there was no problem seeing. It definitely has a school vibe, and felt like being at the strangest assembly ever. There is also seating that's raked behind the stalls. Overall though, I could see and hear well. Tickets were a good price. Food was good (relatively) and affordable. Seats were perfectly comfortable. With the exception of the location (there is a pay & display car park adjacent, though) it was a good night. It's definitely on our radar now and we're back to see Sarah Millican in May, and looking forward to it!

Had a fantastic 1 hour introduction to driving for my 14 year old son. Nick, the instructor was…read morereally supportive and got him driving a manual car within minutes of getting in the car. He really enjoyed it, and the process was really smooth - we were in the car within 5 minutes of arriving. It seems the under 17 events are held on every Saturday, and then once a month on the last Sunday, but book up fast. Lois helped us book a future drive, and was really helpful too. Great experience!

I recently visited Drift Limits for a supercar driving experience, but unfortunately, my encounter…read morewas marred by several concerning issues that significantly detracted from the overall enjoyment. Firstly, the booking process was misleading and seemed geared towards upselling unnecessary upgrades. Initially advised to pay an extra £60 for an automatic car, I later discovered that the chosen experience could accommodate automatic cars without this costly upgrade. This approach feels disingenuous and left me questioning the integrity of their customer advice. Secondly, despite booking and paying for 8 laps per person, we were told we would only receive 4 laps each. This inconsistency and lack of transparency in fulfilling the booking are deeply disappointing. Moreover, the overall organization and management of the event were severely lacking. We booked for a 2:00pm session but ended up waiting for hours due to overbooking issues & only got in a car after 4:30pm. This mismanagement not only caused frustration but also resulted in wasted time and undermined the special occasion we were there to celebrate. Additionally, the condition of the car provided was substandard and unacceptable. The vehicle displayed signs of neglect, including visible moss growth between the mirrors and malfunctioning windscreen wipers. Such poor maintenance reflects poorly on Drift Limits' commitment to customer satisfaction and safety. - Drift Limits have denied these issues to me but I saw them very clearly. To make matters worse, my attempt to address these issues directly with Drift Limits was met with a dismissive response. Their reply was brief, and they did not seem interested in investigating or acknowledging most of the issues raised, instead deflecting by referring to terms and conditions that were not adequately disclosed prior to the experience. In summary, my experience at Drift Limits was marred by misleading practices, poor organization, and a lack of attention to basic service standards. I would caution anyone considering their services to thoroughly evaluate alternatives before committing to Drift Limits. They value money more than customer service. I expect Drift Limits to respond to this review with an explanation for each point how somehow it was the customers fault & explained in the t&c's I accepted etc, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend trusting their response in the slightest.

In 1972 the London Hare Krishna temple, which was then at Bury Place near the British Museum, was getting much too small for the growing interest. George Harrison, feeling sympathetic towards the devotees, decided to ask a British devotee, Dhananjaya das, to choose a large property not too far from London. Several properties were investigated, but finally they settled on Piggot's Manor in Aldenham, near Watford, which has now been renamed as the famous Bhaktivedanta Manor. Prabhupada regarded George as his son and the relationship was very close. George lived here for a while and when Bhaktivedanta Manor was donated, Shrila Prabhupada said of George, Because he has given shelter to Krishna by providing this temple, Krishna will surely provide shelter for him.

When I was a kid and would come here they would have boat rides on the lake but with current health and safety considerations this is no longer possible. I like the gift shop and the Radha Rani bakery, tastes here are unique because all the milk used comes from their own herd of Jersey cows. A product have found nowhere else is Ahimsa cruelty free milk, I asked what the difference is and they explained even organic cows are slaughtered once the milk yield diminishes whereas these cows see out their days in fields they own in Kent.
