The only reason I'm only giving 4 stars out of 5 is that I was told my pants would be finished two days later by 11am (I said I could pick them up in two days before noon, or I could get them the following week as there was no rush). I arrived to pick them up at 11:35am while on my way to work, and I ended up having to wait 5 minutes while he finished one of my pants in front of me. It wasn't a big deal, but if I I had come at 11am when he said they would be done then I would have waited 40 minutes or I would have had to come back to get my pants on another day. I would recommend this tailor, but I would suggest giving them more time to finish your items, even if they sound confident that they will have it done in a couple of days.

Even though I wasn't around back then, you still get a sense of nostalgia when you walk in the door. They have a really cool huge collection of police cloth badges from all over the world, tacked up behind the front counter. You can easily spend a half hour just gawking at them trying to figure out where and when they're from. Nice way to pass the time while waiting for clothes. The service is always amazing, timely, prices are fair and the fit of the clothing is always what I wanted. Janice is extremely friendly and kind and over the years she has made an effort to build and grow a rapport, which I really appreciate. No anchoring done, paid a lot in cash. Hard to believe this job was done by a real tailor, I suspect they have inexperienced people in the back doing their work. Taking my coat to another tailor, will make sure this time that an actual tailor does the work and if he/she advises me of how this work was done, I will let you know. I don't always agree with all of the Best Ofs in The Coast, but Daniel's Tailoring Shop is a…read morewell-deserved long-standing winner of the tailoring category. I'm actually a little bit shocked that it hadn't been reviewed yet when I dropped off a couple pairs of pants the other day! It's a small shop on the upper level of Park Lane Mall found from the main entrance by hopping on the escalators or stairs off to the right -it's in the main hallway. The head tailor here has been my go-to for alterations on any piece of clothing that I just can't have messed up. Typically, this means hemming pricy denims down to my Smurf-life height without having to worry about them coming back too long, too short, or looking like I hemmed them myself. For an extra cost ($20 rather than the normal $8 for a hem), they'll do a euro hem which makes the bottom of your jeans look professionally finished rather than just folded up and shortened. Definitely worth it if you've invested in a great pair to start with. Not only that, but the tailor actually cares about the work he's doing. He'll take your measurements as per usual, but he'll also ask about the shoes you wear, how you stand regularly, whether you like them to run long, etc. Even for a simple hemming, Daniel's makes sure that it's done to suit you specifically. On Saturdays, appointments can be made for consultations on more complicated jobs which I haven't done before, but I have witnessed the change in my friends' wardrobes after getting run through this shop. I can't wait to bring in some okay-fitting stuff and leave with perfection!

While the price and services offered are pretty standard fare for the tailoring industry, I find the attention to detail and willingness to do what's best for your gear really impressive for a wee tailor shop in a mall. As recently as this week which has been a bit messy with unexpected family commitments, they were able to fully tailor a suit with a one-day turnaround so that I'd be ready to go in no time. Sure - it was an extra $20 for the express charge, but being able to have a brand new suit completely ready to go in a day was just one less thing for me to worry about. They've moved a couple of times which got a bit confusing but they seem to be permanent once more on the bottom floor of the Mic Mac Mall near the Winners entrance. Cash or debit only.
