I've lost all faith in doctors. My brother is in ICU in this hospital right now and has been since…read morelast Friday. He has cirrhosis of the liver, kidney issues and diabetes. He spent a day at home in bed with a stomach ache and the next day woke weak, disoriented and confused. The ambulance was called and he ended up here. Not sure what protocol is...if it's to start completely over as if they have no history about the patient or what. We were told by one of his nurses, we're treating him for his current issue not all of his historical issues. To not consider his historical issues (which are actually current issues) and how they are impacting his immediate health is plain stupid. They can't seem to figure out why he's unresponsive. Maybe it's because his liver is shutting down. And, be straight up with the family. If the prognosis isn't good, say it instead of making us try to guess what is going on. There have been multiple "we think it's this, it looks like it might be that, it could be this...." He's been tested for everything from cocaine to HIV. From what I see, everything points to his liver shutting down. I'm not a doctor and if anyone can add any insight I'd really appreciate it. I'm very emotional right now because my brother is going to die. If not in this hospital, it will be soon in hospice. And, it seems like precious days were spent focusing on needless tests while today the nurse advised they didn't do any blood tests?? I would think platelet counts, ammonia levels in his blood, and many other things in his blood should be monitored closely. Unless the medical staff is at the point where it's not worth monitoring anymore. And, if that's the case, they should tell us instead of making us wonder why they are a bunch of idiots!!! Not to mention, we just found out he had cirrhosis a couple months ago. My brother gets his blood check every two weeks, has been in and out of the hospital over the last few years, and sees multiple doctors regularly. In fact, he was in this same hospital last October and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. A liver test was done at that time but it was "unremarkable." So apparently not the correct type of test to show if there was any liver damage and they didn't dig any deeper. My sister has gone to most of his appointments with him and he provided her with access to his medical records. This most likely is not something that developed overnight so you tell me...how did no one figure out he had cirrhosis sooner?

Horrible place. There money hungry and they do not help you with the bill. They don't even wait…read moreuntil your insurance pays there part and they throw u in collections. I would never recommend this place for your hospital. I've lost many loved ones here. Go to Sanford they do a better job with your health needs and they work with you on your billing sometimes even tell u no charge. They are amazing!
