Facilities are solid and it's nice to have an indoor basketball gym in Queens but it really feels like this place just takes hoopers for granted. Multiple times a month I've planned my day around their already limited basketball open court hours and multiple times I've arrived to find they had last minute booked up their courts for the next 1+ hours. Today I arrived for open courts at 8pm, I was told I had to wait 5 minutes to enter. During this 5 minutes I literally watched the courts be booked for another hour, not taking into account myself and the other 8 members waiting to utilize the basketball gym that we all expected to be open. Frustrating to say the least, when we are paying $60+ per month. Better off spending the extra money and finding a gym that is more consistent. read more

Came with my friend who comes here and raves about it. There are 3 floors and an ample amount of machines. That being said it's a little unorganized but I'm sure once you go often enough you wouldn't get lost! Super clean and for a Saturday it was packed but we didn't have to wait for a single piece of equipment. They have great lighting and also have a posing room in the women's bathroom. Went there and purchased a day pass for 30 dollars which I thought was too expensive to try out the gym. The gym has alot of nice machines and layout. However there were bunch of people not playing by the rules. They kept slamming the weights and the stacks on the machines. Ever since the pandemic closed my go-to workout spots in Astoria (RIP, Simply Fit & CKO), I've been on the hunt for a local workout that's affordable, conveniently located and, most importantly, one that I'll actually go to. After some trial and error (i.e., dropping a hundo on an OrangeTheory heart monitor that I'll never use again), I decided to search for something closer to where I'm located in Astoria that offers daily workout classes. I've seen some pretty scathing reviews on here about this place but overall, BQE has served my needs well. They offer a variety of workout classes every day that fit within my schedule and keep me engaged and coming back for more. The space itself is clean and massive. They have a basketball court you can rent out, two floors of machines, locker rooms that are clean and updated, a workout space for classes, a breakfast, coffee and smoothie bar and two parking lots which are included with membership. They have several membership options, but I opted to pay the entire year up front for $650 to avoid additional fees, which shakes out to $54 per month, which is more than reasonable in my opinion considering everything this place offers. My only complaint is that parking gets pretty difficult during peak hours even with two parking lots, so if you're coming for a class make sure you arrive early to find a spot! read more

I joined BQE Fitness in Oct on a month to month plan with the intention of just trying out a new trainer. 6 months later I am still a member who travels from Flushing. There are 2 parking lots and street parking available. The gym is huge (3 floors) & clean. The staff is very friendly, always greet you when you arrive & leave. The manager El is always present whether it's day or night. They offer cardio, spin, & boxing classes. There is a cafe with seating, the chicken platter is very good and reasonably priced. They also serve smoothies & shakes which is super convenient after a work out. Everything is fresh and made in house (I see the massive amounts of produce being delivered when I workout on Friday mornings) Overall a great gym, good prices. As a woman I never felt intimidated or uncomfortable in the space. My trainer Andrew is amazing, friendly but tough! I will start by saying this gym was convenient because of it's parking lot, decent price and abundance of cardio machines. I was a member here for close to 4 years. The difference here is they're like any typical gym with a membership scam. They won't allow you to cancel without a notarized letter 15 days prior to the month ending, which is ridiculous. The best part is they won't tell you that though, they'll even charge you a "cancellation fee" and tell you everything is taken care of. Predatory practices from money hungry owners who have no loyalty towards paying customers. They even sent my "years" past due to collections and tried to charge (and failed) my credit card for a higher monthly fee. Well guess what? I never paid you greedy pieces of trash a dollar and got the collection removed from my credit report. They'd rather scare and scam you for your hard earned money rather than appreciate their customers. Stay far away. read more

The gym here looks awesome! A ton of machines, studio, basketball court and even a health cafe. With a membership you have an option to join any of the classes which is great honestly. As for their health cafe, you don't even need to be a member to visit! Either go in and order or have delivered to you via uber eats. A definite junk food alternative that will have you wanting to eat healthier for sure. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap which was super yummy as well as a Pesto Chicken Platter that was even better. 3 STARS if you are coming here for BASKETBALL. In fact, I didn't even get to play on my first day here. There were no signs indicating that there was an event going on, and thus closed off to the members. I was inside the courts and had to be asked out. The only way to figure out if there is an event at the indoor courts is if you try to book an event from the website. You can reserve the facility on the same day, which means even if you checked the website, there is a chance it is booked by the time you arrive. Moreover, it looks like there are events fully booked months out for later times (after 7). Tough luck for those who work and can only squeeze time during those after hours. I can understand that from the business perspective but there needs to be some agency towards having members exclusive days or hours for the indoor facilities. The redeeming factor was the gym itself. It is very clean and spacious. However, this is coming from a lifelong blink fitness/YMCA goer so expectations are low. Didn't need to wait for any equipment so that was great. --- EDIT: Thanks Salvatore for the response. Since posting this, I have used the basketball facility; it was great and the staff do a great job maintaining it. I've also been able to access the live schedule. And yes, it would appear same day rentals aren't allowed. It is still upsetting that the courts are hardly available outside of normal working hours (9-5). It's even worst on the weekends, for instance for this coming weekend, there's only 3 one hour slots available for Saturday and one slot available (7am - 8am) for Sunday. We all have different fitness goals; imagine telling the powerlifter that he only has access to chest equipment on 7am tomorrow, or to the marathon runner that he cannot access the bike. I'd be content if there's even an hour throughout the week or a few days a week that is within a reasonable time (suppose 6pm - 7pm) that is reserved for members only. I've seen this model being used by other gyms like the LIC YMCA. Right now I am reworking my schedule around this situation (like waking up at 6am to make the 7am slot this Sunday, or getting off work early to make the 3pm slot during weekdays) but I am exploring other options for basketball. read more

BQE Fitness is an excellent gym overall. Everyone that works there, from the front desk, trainers, café and all other staff are remarkably professional and friendly. A while back I worked out at Equinox gyms in Manhattan, and BQE Fitness is similar in scope but with more of a community vibe. The gym is very clean and lately undergoing continuous renovations and improvements. I really enjoy working out there. I've also recently begun working with their trainers to address some knee issues. Ryan H. has been super effective in helping me strengthen my legs and alleviate some of the pain. I've also worked with two other trainers, Mel and DeAngelo, and they were both excellent. They also have childcare and monthly art showcases. Overall, a great place to work out. read more

Huge. Lots of equipment. Always an EMPLOYEE cleaning. Loss of stars because I NEVER see anyone cleaning off their own equipment. It's disgusting and rude. Clearly management has no desire to enforce a policy where patrons are required to wipe down their equipment. My boyfriend and I contracted MRSA from our last gym because they didn't require anyone to sanitize or spray down after use. He ended up in the hospital it was so bad and I had to go on serious rounds of antibiotics. read more

Been here a couple weeks ago for their Soca HIIT class. I died during the session, but it was such a great experience! The instructor was great and so full of energy. I would come again for another class or to work out. The gym itself has such a great atmosphere for people of all fitness levels. My only complaint is that I wished I lived closer! Their new spaces are fabulous! I've yet to try one of their group fitness classes, but after over a year of coming here I've always had a great experience with the staff and members. They have cleaning stations accesible all around they gym. I still wipe down equipment before AND after use though because some folks just can't be bothered. Even with the unfortunate ones that don't understand how to use it, I've never noticed equipment to get particularly gross. Parking can be tough during busier times of day, but this is NY so nothing to fault them for. Overall always a great experience here! read more

Let's start off with the price for what you're getting for at this gym. Renovations for this gym were done 2+ years ago which justified the price at the time for an annual membership of $450 then after anyone renewed when renovations were complete the price was now $550(22.2% increase), which I was still fine with paying for the annual membership. However, nothing was done to the gym for them to increase the price again from 2022-2023 to $650(18.2% increase). Just looked at their website again and they're now charging members $750(15.4% increase) for their annual plan...what a joke. They're charging luxury gym prices as if they were an equinox gym for lackluster service. 2 years of not doing anything since the renovation & opening of the food bar and you've raised the price. If the idea is to alienate your local community then you're doing a good job at it because I and a lot of people locally don't sign-up for that reason. read more

They recently upgraded place looks great . But now they "try" to upsell the membership to $45 a month saying their rates changed.Recycling buisness look how Ballys total fitness ended up bankrupt. They take your legacy membership $25 a month monthly till u want to use the gym not a problem then. The days of $45 a membership are done, volume buisness models killed that. Its not the best gym to walk to , parking is very hectic at this gym location , located next to a strip club and car breakins have happened around that area. Retro fitness in woodside with parking works or planet fitness on Roosevelt. Many other great options on steinway. Many owners tried here, place looks great buisness ethics gets an F. Hi Salvatore, They definitely did not take that "gym etiquette"class. I was a member there with my boyfriend when an employee approached him in a rude manner. She did not bother to apologize or even recognize the fact that she had acted incorrectly. I tried confronting her about it and was turned away. Upon entering you get that very dirty smell, that turns you off !!! I asked for a trial on past Sunday night ( 06-12-22 ) and they charged me $15 at 9pm - while the gym was closing at 10pm. I love how spacious this gym is. It's got amazing amenities but the contracts are just not for me, they have single month options going for $35+ but I feel like it's not valid. Hands-down the best gym in New York. From offering three whole floors to work out in and yes I said it three whole floors !! Let's start by saying the employees have an awesome customer service.I am always welcome, greeted with a smile or even if I leave with my headphones on I can see the girls or guy if it's a man that day saying bye to me. Now the third floor I call it the big daddy floor. It has so many different kinds of equipment to use it varies. You legit have options here for everything so many variety's . I think that's what makes it so unique. Especially me as a woman I like to work a lot on my legs and glutes and this gym has the machines to hit any kind of Muscle . I've been coming here for years. The changing rooms/bathroom are huge and big mirrors for those cute selfies . Clean lockers and bathrooms . Cherry on top!!! THEY SELL FOOD!! ! So many amazing delicious healthy choices . To join on a monthly basis, two months and a processing fee is needed upfront. If you join once the month begins, you will also be charged for the difference, basically. I tried joining yesterday, the first of the month, and they tried to charge me for THREE MONTHS because this month already began. It is the first of the month! What are you talking about? I tried reasoning with the staff assisting me, but he could've cared less. After experiencing the guy's irrational manner towards the situation, and I don't care if you join or not attitude, I am glad it didn't work out. The gym and facility itself is very spacious and organized. Of particular note is the separate boxing room which is enclosed and physically distinct from the rest of the gym. This is a good thing. I have been in other gyms where space is limited but the owners and management believe they operate out Madison Square Garden during a Mike Tyson PPV event. Having to not squeeze by people throwing hooks to get to the ladies room is commendable. I do not look good with a broken orbital bone or concussed left eye. Not pretty. Still, I am not pleased with the overall location. It reminds me of Hunts Point. The BQE service road location is the pits. The surrounding factories or warehouse looks like the former Yugoslavia after Clinton got done ordering NATO to bomb the place. Not pleasant and highly sketchy at best. Yes I know the area has had numerous car break in as well. I know this for a fact as I am familiar with one of the companies who operate in that locale. Finally, the parking lot is minuscule. You can barely find an open spot. Worse then Woodstock in the rain, nonetheless. Prices have also increased which unfortunately are not commensurate with this gyms location. read more

Stay away from this "Gym" Management, at least the "manager" I was appointed to for a new membership was rude, not helpful, lack of hygiene (looked like he was hungover) and no customer service whatsoever when I intended to join this gym. I was highly referred to it and sadly, he made me just save my money and go elsewhere. The receptionists were just on their cellphones and not giving me any answers when I asked for help to get information. They made me wait for more than 15 minutes to actually get someone for information on memberships. Change your staff members and maybe this place will be a great place to workout!! read more
