ILP is fantastic. I worked with them for three years on and off and truly enjoyed my time. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and personable. They provide PT-level individualized services/care and have helped me recover and gain strength after sports injuries. Each month, you get an updated workout plan that helps work toward your goals. It's a premium product at an appropriate price. The environment is friendly and the other patrons are quite nice. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who asks. read more

I've been coming to Iron Lion consistently for about two years. I love that I get a new program every month and their scheduling tool makes it easy for me to plan my week, which keeps me accountable and I find I am missing far less gym days per week here than any other gym I've been a member of. I also really appreciate being able to pause billing when I'm going on vacation, and that they have clean towels so all I have to show up with is my water bottle! All the coaches are super knowledgeable and are always keeping on eye on everyone's form. They pay attention to the details and make sure everyone is working out safely. read more

It's rare to find a gym that trains both HS/college athletes and the general population. Iron Lion does and excels at both. I've been able to successfully rehab a shoulder injury and continue to get stronger. My sons' have trained here during their HS years and one is committed to playing baseball in college, and the second should be following. Iron Lion has laid out the blueprint. There is a difference between exercise and training, all the trainers at Iron Lion understand that different people should train differently and get results! read more

Iron Lion is like no other. I started my fitness journey a little over two years ago with them and I don't regret a thing. The care and quality of individual attention you receive is unlike anything else I've ever experienced in a fitness realm. Not only is the entire staff knowledgeable, but you're part of an awesome family. My programs are unique to me and my capabilities monthly. I actually look forward to coming to the gym. I don't live in Astoria, i work in LIC and was told about Iron Lion from a colleague. Even on my days off, I drive in just to attend the gym. I don't like gyms where you feel self conscious and uncomfortable. That is the complete opposite vibe of Iron Lion. I would recommend Iron Lion to anyone, every time. read more

Joining Iron Lion was one of the best decisions I have made in my fitness journey. The trainers are knowledgeable and supportive and always push me to work harder and achieve my fitness goals. I love having tailored workouts that change every four weeks to meet my fitness goals. I've already seen noticeable improvements in my strength and endurance, and I owe it all to the amazing trainers at this gym. Also, after suffering from a back injury, Chris took his time to build a program for me that correlated with my physical therapy sessions so I could heal quicker and safer, with constant check-ins to make sure I was doing and feeling okay. I cannot express how much that meant to me. I highly recommend this gym to anyone seeking personalized fitness training in a supportive and welcoming environment. read more

A few months ago I was looking for a new gym. A friend referred me to Iron Lion and I cannot express how grateful I am that they did. My experience at Iron Lion has been incredibly positive, and in the almost three months that I have been training with them I have noticed a significant difference in not only my performance IN the gym but in the way I hold myself and the way I move OUTSIDE the gym. The trainers at Iron Lion are very focused on the well-being and goals of their clients, you really could not ask for a more dedicated group of people. As someone who is generally very anxious, I have really appreciated how kind and caring they have been. They take the time to listen to my needs, and they do a fantastic job of explaining and walking you through the workouts. Absolutely recommend. 100%. read more

The Iron Lion team is truly the best. Great trainers who know their stuff. Really thoughtful about their programs and they get results. As someone who's never been the strength training "cross fitter" type, it was intimidating for the first few seconds when I walked in, but then I met Ricky, Troy and the rest of the crew and everyone is so supportive, patient, and encouraging. They've built a great community with people of all ages, training goals, and experience levels. read more

I'm super picky when it comes to fitness. I much prefer working with trainers to working out solo, and at Iron Lion, that's exactly what I'm able to get, with the added benefit of open gym-access. The team of trainers at Iron Lion is amazing. The owner, Chris, employs a team that truly follows one philosophy, and who are committed to being the best trainers and coaches they can be. The location can't be beat - just blocks away from the N/Q and R trains - and the facility has everything you need to truly commit to strength training and your respective fitness and health goals. I've never once doubted that I was in good hands with the Iron Lion team, and their commitment to my growth in strength and more importantly, in health and movement, motivates me each and every session and beyond. read more

I've been hesitant to work with personal trainers for a long time since it's never really worked out for me. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I wanted to lose a significant amount of weight and get stronger safely so I invested in Iron Lion. I've been attending this gym for four weeks now and it is worth ever penny I have spent. The Coaches are knowledgeable like no other. They care for your well being and safety. They monitor you as you go through rigorous sessions that are carefully curated for your own personal needs. They are all helpful, personable, and very supportive. I love working with all of them. Additionally, they offer nutritionist programs from a registered dietician and let me tell you, Lauren is absolutely phenomenal. Within my first four weeks, I'm already seeing results and I am someone who has had extreme difficulty losing weight. My posture and body is much more streamlined, my breathing has improved and I am both losing weight and gaining definition. If you are someone who wants a rigorous workout that is constantly tailored to your own athletic needs, this is the place for you. Iron Lion takes a unique approach to fitness that helps to remove a lot of the barriers I've experienced in traditional gym environments. I am in my final week of a six week introductory program and have nothing but good things to say about this place. There is a personal approach taken to address your individual goals and a group of incredibly kind trainers work with you to ensure that you are comfortable with the movement and doing each exercise in a way that will actually drive results. The trainers are patient and open to questions, which helps remove the intimidation factor I've historically felt in gyms. They are aware of your limits and will push you to them but not beyond to avoid injury and will provide modifications when necessary. I entered the program for mental changes over physical ones, but feel much stronger in both areas. I genuinely get excited to go to the gym now, which is something I've never said before! For the customized program and training that you receive, the prices are fair. The gym is well-maintained and have all the necessary Covid protocols in place to make you feel safe while working out. read more

After many years of CrossFit and a few minor injuries I needed to try something new. Had heard a few good things so went in with my boyfriend (also a crossfitter) for an assessment. Totally blown away by Chris's ability to hone in on deficits and even stuff I didn't know I needed to work on. After a couple of months on rehab stuff my program has developed really well and I'm lifting again and feeling challenged and super motivated. All the coaches are ridiculously knowledgable, supportive and instructional without hovering or being overbearing and the vibe is just chill, focused and fun. I'm excited to keep going and keep getting stronger. read more

With COVID-19 shutting down all the gyms, I give these guys credit for doing an incredible job at getting creative. They figured out a way to operate outdoors so as to keep everyone isolated and as safe as practical while still providing in-person training and facilities. I was skeptical at first, but not anymore, now I'm just impressed. The training and workouts are as amazing as before. FIVE STARS! read more

Having lost and gained weight so many times over the last few years, I decided to make a change and join Iron Lion. Since starting my training I've lost 30 pounds and have been able to keep it off! Not only have I lost weight but I've also become much stronger, improved my balance, and made progress with an injury. All of the trainers are knowledge, patient, attentive, and genuinely care about members' progress. Along with excellent trainers, ILP also has a tight knit community of members who are very fun to train alongside. I highly recommend training here! read more

I went in with my girlfriend looking for a place that would allow us to get a good workout while rehabbing her injured shoulder and came out with so much more. Chris was able to accurately diagnose our weaknesses and provide us tailored programs that are fun and challenging. Moreover, all of the coaches are so knowledgeable, kind, and attentive that it really motivates you to give your everything. I'm on my third month and already feel much stronger and more stable. I hurt my back while at work about 5 years ago. I was diagnosed with bulging/herniated discs. I couldn't walk and have been in pain ever since. The chiropractor could only do so much as I developed arthritis in addition to the bulging/herniated discs as per my back doctor. My chiropractor suggested that I try Iron Lion Performance as my last resort which I wish I would have suggested sooner. I have been working out here for about 6 months now and I feel back to normal. I no longer worry about pain depending on which way I twist or turn and I can bend down properly again. These classes are more than just exercising. They are helping to build my body and breathing for a healthier lifestyle. I have my body back and I am forever grateful for how Iron Lion Performance changed my life! read more

I've been coming to ILP for about three years and I can honestly say it's the best gym/ strength/ training I have ever received or been a part of. If you want to run on a treadmill, this isn't the place for you. But if you want real coaches who create a workout plan that is really going to help you reach and exceed your goals, this is your spot. By no means is this a "meat head" or "pick up heavy things" gym ... there are all ages, genders, body types, abilities, etc ... and everyone is made to feel comfortable and part of the crew. I even moved out of Astoria to a different borough and still make the commute because I didn't want to give up the sense of community and encouragement that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. read more

I was referred to Iron Lion Performance by a friend who has been a member for several years now. After being a Denizen for over 2 months now, I can honestly say I wish I would have joined sooner. I have always struggled with my weight and getting motivated to get to the gym and work out. Even though I still struggle with getting to the gym at times, I am always so happy I went after the fact, because I always have such a great support system at ILP. The coaches, nutritionist, and other Denizens are the most friendly, kind, and helpful people you will ever meet. I feel such a sense of community and always have a great time while I am there. It is one of the best investments I have ever made! read more

I have been going to this fine gym for just under 3 years, having worked out with trainers for over 15 years, they (Chris, Jason, Hayley, Andrew and even Rickey) are by far the best and me being north of 39 The Worlds Oldest Teenager has many aches and pains and all trainers work to help me get rid of them!! Great Gym, unlike any other! I commute from Nassau County and many times as Andrew can attest, Stelio's is Stuck in Traffic!! All worth it!! Thanks for all the Help! This review has been a long time coming and I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner! After wanting to transition from a more expensive full time personal trainer, I found this gym. What they do here is just as good! Training in a group setting with a personalized program that makes you feel like you're the only client there. This team really cares not just about how you look, but also how you feel. With many health issues to contend with, i was nervous working with too many different people - not the case here! Being a client at iron lion is like having 5 personal trainers all at once! Everyone is down to earth and genuinely has a fun time working out. The staff truly cares and a membership is worth every penny. Love you guys! read more

This is by far the best gym in Astoria. They treat you like family, they treat you like an actual person as apposed to a $$ sign. They listen to your wants and needs and get you the results you are looking for in a healthy and fun way. Do you ever walk into the gym and not know what to do and then leave a half hour later with a half assed workout? Yeah I bet you do...NOT here. They do an evaluation, set you up with a workout plan for everyday that you come in. There is always someone here to help you with an exercise so you don't just do the exercise, you learn how to do the exercise properly. Hands down Best gym in Astoria. read more

Joined Iron Lion when I first moved to Astoria and have been thoroughly pleased with my experience so far! As a traditionally cardio-heavy athlete with limited weight-training experience, I have really enjoyed ILP's focus on learning the correct movement, form, and mechanics for fundamental strength-training routines. Chris and the team are extremely knowledgeable and personable and have built a solid community here in Astoria. read more

I have been going to ILP over two years and it has drastically changed my quality of life not just physically, but also mentally. Each trainer is very personable and always available to help you when training. Ricky, Chris, Jason, Hayley, Andrew, Destiny and all the other trainers are amazing and so informed and helpful. I love the community and it's such a positive atmosphere. Iron Lion is the only gym I've ever been a member of that I actually look forward to going to! They cover everything from A-Z with strength training, mobility, and nutrition. I truly doubt I would be successful without ILP in my journey. They really care about all of their members and even have fun events and weekly classes! I always rave about this establishment and you should definitely check it out! This is not a regular gym. If you re looking for a globo gym with machines and treadmills or stepmasters, then this is not for you. However, if you re interested in having your own specific program, a team of knowledgeable trainers guiding you through your warmups and workouts, this is for you. Each member of our family is evaluated first, then provided with a specific exercise program to suit their goals. Some of us are ex athletes, some current ufc fighters, baseball players, others are teachers, accountants and engineers... but we are all one. We are not a globo gym, we are a home. You are always welcome and you will not regret it read more

Went in for a consultation to see if this was the right gym for me, I can say that the team at Iron Lion are knowledgeable, caring and want you to succeed with your health goals. Although I wanted to join I had to get a hip replacement and instead of the team at iron lion saying join to get the money they said to work on your Physical therapy first and once finished come back and they'd take me on. Few more weeks till I'm out of PT and I'll surly be joining. read more

First time reviewer and I couldn't be happier that it's for Iron Lion Performance. Chris, Jason, Haley, Ricky, Destiny and Andrew are great people. They really do their best to give this place the welcoming community vibe that keeps people coming back. When I started here, I never deadlifted, swung a kettlebell or had any real idea how the body was suppose to move. With individualized programs and tons of personal attention, they help you succeed at your goals. I see the transformations in other members and myself. Check their Instagram for proof. I look forward to working out here. It's never routine or boring. Great programs, fun challenges and most importantly great people.
