Service was exceptional! They work as a team and food comes out FAST!…read more The ambience is nice being right above the waves and there is a small AC unit to help circulate the air and keep you cool. As you sit fresh bread is brought to the table and some pannelle... fried chick pea flour... it was salty and tender. A treat before our meal. We had the fried calamari to start, and the portion wasn't too big.... Perfect to share. We ordered the rigatoni carbonara, and it was creamy, delicious and had a ton of pancetta. The pasta was cooked perfectly... definitely al dente and there was a little heat in the sauce, which only heightened the flavor. We also had the seafood ravioli, and you'll have to forgive me. I'm not sure which one it was, but the presentation was spectacular, I'm sure that they would be able to tell you if you show your server the picture I have below. ravioli. Sauce was paired extremely well with the fish ravioli. Lastly, we shared the swordfish al pistachio. It was delicious and the crunch from the fresh pistachios covering the fish put it over the top.

The red wine tasted like a Syrah blend, it was easily the best wine that I had in Palermo. Prices seemed reasonable. I recommend getting a reservation, there was often a long line of people waiting for tables.

Very disappointed! Came here tonight with my husband. We had a lovely starter of fried cheese. My…read morehusband had a nice piece of swordfish with salad, which was nicely done. I had the misfortune of ordering the meatballs, which were cooked with cheese and mash potatoes -- at least according to the menu. They arrived on a skewer, no mashed potatoes, but cut up white potatoes instead. I could barely dislodge them from the skewer they were so incredibly overcooked. The cheese in between was brown and literally rock hard, when I called the waiter over he offered to replace them which I accepted. Almost a half hour later, no communication from the waiter, no new meatballs, no sign or any food, and my husband was now long done eating his dinner. We asked for the check. The owner then yelled at ME for not being patient enough! He said food in Sicily takes time! Really? I waited for the first meal and it was totally inedible, how long exactly am I supposed to wait for you to cook it right the second time? The owners reaction was really over the top, and he should be ashamed. They served me bad, inedible food and then yelled at us for not being patient enough to wait through a second hour for a replacement? Please. You make a poor dish, own it, apologize and make it right. I would happily have waited a reasonable amount of time for that. After one hour and 15 minutes with zero communication, that is not on me,it's on you. Own it! This restaurant is probably still worth a visit as I feel my bad dish was an aberration, but the attitude of ownership was absolutely rubbish, and they should be ashamed.

We had a perfect evening at Sesto Canto!…read more The restaurant is beautiful and tastefully appointed with an American jazz theme. And the service and food are simply OUTSTANDING! To welcome us, we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and a cold octopus salad amuse bouche. As an appetizer, my friend had the cuttlefish over a bed of lentils. For our primi, linguini alle vongole and fusilli with a pork ragu. For secondi, roast lamb with fresh wild mushrooms and a pork tenderloin with a pistachio sauce. And for dessert, a deconstructed cassata and a gianduia mousse. They also have a terrific wine list. To accompany our meal, we chose La Segreta, a wonderful white blend from Planeta. After dinner, Sicilian amari. Sheer perfection!

The woman (Plantea) who was my server didn't speak very good English so I ended up ordering something completely different than what I came for initially. I wanted the White Sea bass for 16 Euro and ended up with Tuna steak for 18 Euro. I don't know what I paid a 2 Euro cover charge for; I feel that spending 18 Euro on food and 4 Euro for wine should be sufficient and a cover charge is unreasonable. I was told that I could only sit at one of two tables that were both blocking the front door entrance. I ordered dessert vino. I love dessert wine so I was thrilled when I saw it on the menu. I was given a judgmental look from my server and reminded its a vino for dessert. I let her know I would like it now. It would not have made me feel so uncomfortable if it was said differently to me as informative and not judgmental as if I don't know what I ordered. I was looking forward to a nice decent meal. And felt judged and unwelcome. It was EXCELLENT food with POOR customer service. They didn't make myself, a visitor and first time customer feel welcomed to their establishment. I absolutely would have eaten here a second night if there service was better because their food was great. I just did not appreciate being treated poorly and snubbed by waitstaff.
