On a warm October evening we sat across the street from the restaurant where they had outdoor dining under an awning. You can hear the sea crashing on the other other side of a windbreak. The fried sardines anti pasta was Cefalu's answer to KFC and hits all the seafood notes: fresh, crunchy and just a little bit funky the way an oily fish should be. The next the day the wind blew up a huge sea and the rain came sideways when the sun didn't break through. Just when the rain started up again we ducked into Al Faro for lunch. I had the fried sardines because WHY NOT? The special pasta was linguini with sea urchins. Incredible! Had a couple of glasses of Grillo, a double espresso and hopped in the Gulia heading back toward Palermo. Two great meals, wonderful, friendly staff and a memory that will last a long time. read more
