While most antique places focus mainly on glassware, the Country Doc has a good variety of items. The owner is really nice and that is something I value when I browse antiques. The place may be a little crowded, but that means more items! The house is two stories. But if you go around to the back of the house, there is a room with more items. However, I rarely go back there. The items in the house are far more interesting to look at.

Anyway, the antique items you find at The Country Doctor Antique and Gifts are authentically different, one of a kind and in beautiful condition. We have primitive, classic, neo, mid century, early american, good old American vintage and many periods represented at the shop. We have furniture, cabinets, shelves, and home decor and well as collectibles and kitschy finds!!! The new item gifts are different and affordable, just like the rest of the shoppe. This is a Co-op so there are many different styles and personalities in the shoppe, which makes it more interesting to have different tastes and styles represented there. Anyone planning a trip to Lewiston, NY should make a plan to stop in and say hi and do a little shopping or just stop by to look around!

Great shop, lovely owner, fantastic service!…read more I went in to the Refinery yesterday afternoon, admittedly in a bit of a tizzy, looking for a dress for a last-minute event. The owner of the shop, who I believe is named Cher, was just lovely! She was friendly, helpful and gave me a great price on a beautiful silk kaftan, which, I should mention, won me plenty of compliments last night. Cher helped me find a perfect last-minute outfit in a pinch and even did the necessary alteration the dress called for. Her shop has lots of other treasures (including a bridal boutique in the back half of the store) and I'll certainly be back for more! Thanks for being awesome, The Refinery!

Although the shop is largely taken up with racks and racks of beautiful retro wedding frocks, there's also a good selection of vintage pieces, and the odd pair of shoes, belts, bags and other accessories. The store owner was above and beyond helpful, going through her back stock for several possible pieces, one of which was absolutely perfect. She also suggested several styling ideas, and recommended a seamstress across the street (at the Coal Miner's Daughter) who was able to do a few alterations at a very reasonable rate. And the dress was a bit of a bargain. All in all, for someone whose natural response to over-enthusiastic/invasive shop assistants is to say thank you and leave as quickly as possible, the experience was a delight. And the music is usually pretty cool.

These guys get an extra star just for being some of the most awesome people I've come to meet in…read morethe vintage community! After the pandemic I really got into buying and selling vintage decor - and I'll never forget, one of my first estate sale escapades after starting that venture, I came across the guys from Queen City Vintage. They told us they had been there to sign up for the sale at 6am, and had thoroughly swept up most of the sweet vintage Buffalo Bills gear at that sale. This included things like pullovers, hats, and some other merch. After hearing what they spent, and what they sold the stuff for, I had to admit I was thoroughly impressed. The amount of dedication they have to obtaining these items to sell is seriously admirable. It honestly inspired me to go far with my own buying and selling. Flash forward to a few weeks ago, I visited the store for the very first time. They were having a huge vintage Buffalo Bills sale at the shop in honor of the home opener. I was the first person in line, getting there at about 8am to wait until 11am for the shop to open. One of the guys asks me what I had come to the store to shop for, and I told them about the vintage Tweety Bird pullover that they'd posted on their Instagram a few days before, something I'd been looking for for a very long time (in honor of the one my mother once owned). They promised to make sure the one I wanted was on the rack for me when they finally opened the store. More respect earned. So yeah, these guys are genuinely fantastic. Their selection of vintage items (not just Bills) is pretty incredible, and all of their stuff is in such awesome condition that it's all basically deadstock. I totally recommend visiting their shop at least once, and following them on social media, as they're always posting stuff online too that typically sells out before they can even put them on the shelves at the store. And yes, I am thoroughly enjoying my Bills Tweety pullover as I write this. And my vintage Zubaz. Go Bills!

This trendy label appeals to the younger, fashion-conscious, crowd. And then scattered throughout the store, especially in the back, there are styles that look a bit dated and ordinary. There are some high-price designer items as well. I think their jewelry section is rather blah. I've never bought jewelry from them. All sorts of used handbags and practically new shoes. Both my teenage daughter and I have bought clothes from here. Something for everyone. What I like about consigning my gently used clothes with this business is that they itemize the clothing that you give them. When the consignment period is over in 3 months, you know exactly which item sold and how much money you will get for it. Unlike another consignment store in the area that just gives you a number for your items and never tells you exactly what sold. Becomes a mystery. And then you have to hunt all over the place to find your items that didn't sell if you want them back. But here, I ask for items that don't sell back and they keep them for me to pick up within a window of time. They take appointments on their website for consigning your things the first few days of the month only. It's very organized and I appreciate that. They may not take many of the items you hope to consign. But at least they're honest and organized.
