I normally don't do these review things, ( but that's a story for a different day.) I reached a point in my life a few years ago where even taking care of my hair was a problem. Than I met Lauren. I sat down in front of her, and just cried. Her knowing me better than most, and probably just by looking at my hair, all she did was say, "shhh it's okay, let's wash your hair." And a few hours later, I cried again as I looked in the mirror again, transformed from long, dull, stringy, limp hair, to a cut and color that made me feel like i just walked off the runway into the real world. I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, ( and i don't just mean my hair!) I am a tomboy, yeah I said it, so this stuff is either, 1 uncomfortable for me or 2 just totally out of my element and to be honest priorities. But, I realized that a little change even a trim by Lauren or simply just a chat with her, could honestly change your life. I carry myself better, I spend time in the mirror before work, hearing her tips and tricks in my head, as I blow dry and style. She left not only an impression on me, but one on me, that leaves an impression on others. When people compliment my hair, I pull out my mini stack of her business cards I carry and tell them, "please go see her, it's more than a good hair cut or color." And I mean that. Carmel brought my curls back! She is not only my hair stylist now, she is my hair doctor! I have had long curly hair my entire life, my everyday styling was effortless- just wash & go. Until a couple of years ago, my curls became very "stringy" & frizzy. I found myself having to blow dry my hair, with tons of products & scrunching the curls to bring them back to life. I have been going here for a couple of years and always leave happy! We moved here 4 years ago and I went to a couple of different salons that were recommended to me but was not impressed with service or results After giving VG a try I have continued to go every few weeks for almost 3 years. Typically I get cuts and color touch-ups with Vilma or Besa. Kelfy does great blowouts. Other services I've had are glazing and keratin treatments which I love. I continue to go because; my hair has become noticeably healthier since going to this salon, the products are gentle on my hair and smell amazing (Kevin Murphy), the stylists and staff are all warm and friendly even when you can see they are busy. they make the effort to offer you a tea. My daughter also goes here for her hair cuts and keratin treatment. She has also had make-up done with Daniella and Besa before big events. My son also goes here for his haircuts which says a lot! He did not want to go to a "salon" because felt it was for women and went to barbers only. After I convinced him to let Vilma cut his hair once, he will not go any place else and is now loyal to VG! Took me 20+ years to find a great salon but finally did it! Love this place, love what they stand for (organic, natural hair care), everyone is SO SWEET! Never have I been to a salon or anywhere for that matter where everyone comes up and introduces themselves, so sweet! Vilma is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about her field. She did an amazing job on my color, I came in with overgrown roots (dark blonde) and wanted to go light blonde/icy kind of look and she absolutely accomplished that and it looks so natural. She also gave me a breakdown of the price before we even got started I've been coloring my hair since I was in my teens and never have it felt so soft and so healthy until now. I've been going to Carmel for nearly 2 years now and followed her to this salon. Now, usually being a dude in a salon is weird. But these ladies go above and beyond to make sure that everyone feels at home, seems like they really take pride in their work and the quality service they provide. The entire staff here is incredibly knowledgable and seem like they keep up on their education. Every time I go in for a trim (about 2 wks), they're talking about conventions and classes. Don't know much else of what they're talking about when it comes to hair but the proof is in the pudding. I have been to VG countless times; with each appointment they treat me with the kindness, care, and good intentions they would a first time customer. I have been through black, platinum blonde, purple, and brown hair at VG and I still have all my hair on my head! I love that they have my best intentions in mind and will not compromise the health of my hair. Dee and Vil are amazing! Super friendly, family-oriented staff yet extremely professional. Being a super picky patron with long hair-- it takes ALOT for me to immediately trust someone with my hair. I had no issue here. Vil takes my vision and makes it reality, which is difficult for a stylist to do. She's consistent and very good at interpreting what I want no matter what kind of cut I'm in the mood for. Make an appointment, you won't regret it. Velma and Danielle run an smart business and they are all about service. From the moment Danielle makes your appointment to that final spray before you head out the door - you feel listened to, cared for, and really beautiful. Velma is great with color and I haven't had a bad cut yet. Sarah, my daughter, always schedules her appointments between college breaks because they are just that good. On a final note - if you are fussy about something- Velma will respond. I hate my flyaways and she knows it....it is nice to have a perfectionist in your corner when you go to the hairdresser. Wonderful Salon with amazing stylists! Lauren is amazing. She is the only stylist I have allowed to touch my hair in years. Whether it be the latest color or style she knows exactly what to do and does it well. She listens to her clients needs and wants but isn't afraid to explain what will and will not work based on hair type, face shape and skin tone. Hands down best salon in the area. Carmel, Lauren and Vilma are very talented in what they do. I had my first haircut here this evening and will definitely be back. The staff is very sweet and helpful. I got an amazing haircut from Carmel, who also helped me to figure out products that are good for my hair AND showed me how to use them. Side note, Carmel is one of the only stylists I've met that actually knows what I'm talking about and actually listens when I say, "just take off a little". A couple of weeks ago I went to VG for a bridal consultation. Carmel was my stylist and she did a great job! She was very professional, took her time and really worked with me to find a hairstyle that suited me. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Carmel did a great job at blowing out my kinky-curl hair and styling it. She's pretty versatile and can work with different hair textures. The salon is also a 2 minute walk from the train station which makes it convenient. I would definitely recommend VG hair salon and Carmel! read more

I am a loyal customer to Kelfy and love VG salon. Since moving to Rye in 2020 I wanted to find a consistent hair dresser / salon and VG is it. Kelfy is a very talented hair dresser and I have complete trust in her. I've always had longer hair and have gone to Kelfy for trims but today I went with a more dramatic change - a long bob some may call it and she crushed it!!
