The service lack enthusiasm and you don't feel very welcome. Low effort by the bartender. Also, they closed before 10:30pm although their posted hours are 2am. Very confusing. I brought a friend who had never been there and he thought the server was rude, I just felt she did not want to be there. Not a very welcome place. Needs improvement. read more

Friendly, lots of repeat customers--treats you like family. They are welcoming, and they try to help veterans.

Great dive bar and you cannot best the prices! They have food on Sundays during Football season (they only ask for donations for the food) and they have a pool table. The have open mic night (on Wednesday I think) and on the first Sunday of every month they have Breakfast available (cost:$10) and it comes complete with coffee and juice. Every once in awhile they will have a DJ on a Saturday or Friday night where there is room for dancing in their Hall that is adjacent to the bar room. You do not have to be a veteran to go there. Decent selection of hard liquors, a handful of domestic and imported beers, but overall a nice place to relax and get away. Digital jukebox on the wall, bar box pool table, and what appears to be an event room. This is a decent place. However don't go when Nancy is working. Very rude bartender. It's obvious she doesn't enjoy her work.

I'm writing as a VFW member (mil. veteran), rather than a civilian into the music or food aspect of the venue. As far as VFWs go, this one is the most lively I've ever been to... the members have a nice "Cheers" feel to them, with both ribaldry and jocularity in evidence. The place is tidy, well laid out, and tastefully decorated so as to honor our past servicemen. A very positive experience every time I've been there. read more

Hmmmmm....well, where shall I start....this was an event to celebrate my girlfriend's brother who had passed away. She chose this particular place because after paying for his cremation she couldn't afford much but because her brother was loved by so many she wanted, and needed to do something for the people who mourned him. She and her friends arrived the night before with the assumption that what they said they would do, would be done...the tables and chairs were NOT set up as promised so she and her friends went ahead and set them up...after all, they had to have them set up in order to decorate. While doing so, they noticed that the floor was absolute filthy, and the place smelled disgustingly dirty. So the day went on pretty well, it was a nice "celebration" and Kirt would have been proud of the party and it's attendance.. Here comes the part that is UNBELIEVABLE! My girlfriend was told that she would get her cleaning deposit back as soon as the place was cleaned....little did she know that she was going to have to sweep AND MOP the floors AND take out the trash to the dumpster AND replace the trash can liners! (being that she wanted to get her full deposit back, she noticed that the water in the mop bucket was already filthy, she asked for it to be changed, and they showed her where to change it herself!!!!!) this place is no bargain, and boy did they see my girlfriend coming! They used her and some of her guests as free labor and I want to spread the word so no one else is used! They had her over a barrel....the guy just stood there with her check watching her mop the floors.....what a racket! I asked my girlfriend if she had a written contract with them and she said no... The VFW in Burbank is a full-service bar. Like many other member-only businesses, such as the VFW, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, etc. depend on its membership and community support to sustain itself. The leadership and management are welcoming to all who walk in the door. Member or not, everyone is treated with respect. This VFW is going through some changes and I believe all for the better. The VFW has an ATM, an old school juke box, a modern juke box, 5 T.V.'s in the bar area and a pool table which cost 25 cents. You can pay with a debt card or credit card. It's not a cash only bar like other establishments. Prices are very reasonable and in some cases 35 to 55 percent less than other bars located within a 5-mile ring. I started going to the VFW Burbank after the Moose Lodge in Glendale closed it doors to its membership and the sold the property. My first visit was for the Marine Corps. birthday held last year, Nov.10th, 2016, to say I had a great night is under statement. The place was full of young and old timers from the Marine Corps. One thing I noticed was the respect and conversations that were had with smiles. People walked into the VFW and they were welcomed into the fold and seats were given up as one couple was there on a date. A cake was cut to celebrate the Marines 241st birthday and everyone, marine or not, received a piece of cake. The bartender, Ms. Kirsten was awesome. She ran that bar like a Gunnery Sgt. She poured you a great drink, she gave you multiple options of tequila, whiskey, gin, beer, or wine, etc. The VFW also has a hall, not a large hall, but one big enough to host a 75-100 person function. I've seen numerous party's hosted here and with some TLC by the host, they hall comes out looking great. The price is reasonable and the staff working today is super helpful. On Monday nights there is a big band with 20-plus musicians playing music. Their practice session is open to the public. Most of the band members are locals. Music starts around 6:45 p.m. The T.V. sets are tuned into the sports and if you want to watch a game just ask the staff. I have called ahead of time and had the big T.V. over the juke box tuned into the USC and the UCLA games. I have watched Monday Night Football, major league baseball games and a ton of Laker and Clippers games. They even have the Golf Channel. During the summer when its super hot, the VFW is nice and cool. The ceiling fans keep it so nice you feel like relaxing forever. Great place to challenge someone to a pool game or game of darts. Lately, the pot lucks they have are really good. Pizza is ordered by the staff and every gets a couple slices. Recently, a barbeque produced some amazing cheese burgers. The first Sunday of each month there is a fundraiser breakfast. Finally, take the challenge and swing by and enjoy a beer or mixed drink. The VFW is a cool, quiet place. You don't have to fight to get your drinks and people will greet you, but also give you your space. It's a landmark in the making. Cheers my friends. read more

Thought you classic rock and Country Rock lovers may want to know about this... On Every Tuesday evening, except the 1st Tuesday of the month, a live classic rock band plays music of the 60's and 70's. This is a rock band with horns... They play from 7pm to 10 pm. My girlfriend and I were walking down Magnolia Blvd, passing the VFW in Burbank when we heard some great music coming from inside. The door was open, so we stepped in and were invited to have a seat and enjoy the music. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised... Chicago Tunes, Earth Wind and Fire Tunes, Eagles, Blood Sweat and Tears Tunes... America and lots more... my favorites were the Lynyard Skynyrd songs... I have heard some good bands around, but these guys are great. Here is the thing... It is an open rehearsal so they do stop every once in a while, but it is free admittance. Anyway, I asked them and they said it was open to the public for anyone to come sit and listen. It was nice and cool inside as well. Not a huge place, but certainly fun listening. Like a lot of bands, it was a little loud, but certainly not blaring like many. The band was fairly large... it had what looked like a full rhythm section with 4 horns and 3 vocalists... I have not seen the likes of that for years... A plus for me, there is a full bar in the next room so it was nice to sit and have a drink and surprisingly fair prices. Anyway, just wanted to share in case there are any other classic rock lovers out there like my girlfriend and I who want to listen to great music for free... I have never been to this VFW before. The bartender was great and knows how to make a drink. I was pleasantly surprised to see and hear a large band playing in the next room backing up a number of singers on a Monday night.
