A genuine hidden gem in Los Angeles. When you go into the building, you are met by  stunning art deco, speakeasy, and forties vibes. I was astonished by how big the building is once  inside. I am honored to be a visitor since you must be a  member or have been invited. We had a great experience. Bartender on point :) Met some wonderful people as we enjoyed a night cap. If you have the opportunity, stop by. Thank you to all military personnel for your service.

Looking forward to a slice of "Licorice Pizza"!

Fantastic architecture, friendly staff and members proud of the history of Post 43. We were lucky enough to see a movie inside the theatre, but then stuck around afterwards and member's invited us to come have a drink at the basement bar and look around at the history covering the walls. A couple of guys had knowledge they were happy to share about the founding, history, and legendary "goings on" Post 43 has hosted since 1928 when it was established. We've driven by it many times, but we're so excited to get to see the inside, so we really appreciated their warm hospitality.

A gorgeous and unique facility. Lots of fascinating architectural and design details, including the art deco bar in the "basement" area. We rented this space for a meeting. It's dark downstairs, but so unusual - definitely not your typical venue space. If you are lucky enough to host or attend an event here, make sure to take a walk around the building. There is so much history and hidden delights throughout. The staff there is also super friendly and great to work with. And a parking lot! If you are planning an event in the Hollywood area, don't sleep on this lovely American Legion Post. It's not cheap, but it's worth it and your guests will be impressed!

This isn't your ordinary American Legion. Post 43 was just recently renovated. Films are screened there from time to time--I saw Norman Lear's Cold Turkey (part of the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival. Visit the art deco bar downstairs if you have a moment.

finally had the opportunity to visit this post and see alot of history on its walls.

Finally had the opportunity to visit this post. Having heard so much from its history to its haunts, this is one post I have been meaning to go to. Staff behind the bar were friendly and welcoming. Some posts tend to be not so nice and welcoming regardless if you are a member or officer of another post and visiting but I had no issues here. I would make more rounds to this post and attend their events. I sure could use some more practice with my billiards game though. Pool room is for members only so do not forget your card. Thanks again for the hospitality. 1st Vice Cmdr Monterey Park Post 397

But the clothes on the ground were absolutely degrading and uncivilized. Like a slap in the face for any down and out person or anyone for that matter. Who picks up anything up off the ground unless it's trash to throw away. And some of the clothes were very beautiful. Many are seniors and or disabled and can't bend down either. I sure hope they did something about that clothing, shoes, etc. Tables would solve the problem. So depressing to experience a line of food, smiles and hope just to come to the end of the line to see clothes on the ground reminding people how bad it really is(some go back to tents on the ground, etc). Lines and the wait is very long so if you can't stand for long periods(like myself) - bring a rollator walker to sit on.

I went on Google and started doing some research when I came across Food on Foot. Wow. Before I even signed up, I knew that this was something to look forward to. This organization not only gives food to the homeless, but they really work with them to help them with housing and finding jobs. We even got to hear from former people who used to be homeless--they are called 'Graduates'. Their stories and their energy prove that this is such an impactful organization and everyone deserves to know about it and help out. It is $20 to donate, but you actually can see where your money is going. The staff were very informative and friendly. I had an amazing first experience and I will be volunteering a lot more often with Food on Foot.

We were chopping veggies, seasoning items, slicing cake, and even packaging the ready made meals for deliveries! There's so much you can help with and staff are friendly, even when everyone's running around everywhere. And if you like, you can eat there after your shift too. A lot of the cis gay men in these waiting rooms are rude and stare angrily at me. I am usually the only woman there. I got a Pap smear that was so intensely painful my period has been gone for months. That has never happened to me in my life. I have been waiting for referrals for months, now one for gynecology. Scheduling with them is a nightmare. It's phone tag and passive aggression like I am not an injured person seeking medical care. My doctor was an RN and was fine and nice and everything but it's spread so thin here getting referrals has been basically impossible. Additionally you should know this location primarily serves the homeless population, many of these men will verbally harass and threaten you outside the clinic. Most of the people here are getting prescriptions. I found it weird it was like a mall or something not an actual medical building. The blood draw is in a giant room where you can see everyone else at the same time. It was dirty. Like if Akbar was a doctor's office... if you wanna get harassed and be looked at like you don't belong...

I was reunited with Big Sunday this morning through a volunteer event for my companies Global Impact Day, a day where our associates throughout the world give back and make a difference in our communities - something that really, I strive to do all of the time. I was first introduced to Big Sunday in 2016 with the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council. Each opportunity to volunteer with Big Sunday has been a wonderful and rewarding experience, whether potting plants along the boulevard with the SONC Green & Beautification Committee or organizing, boxing and labeling hundreds of children's costumes for underprivileged children on site at Big Sunday in Hollywood. Big Sunday is organized, well run, and always full of really amazing volunteers- an excellent way to spend some time helping, to help others. I look forward to becoming even more involved with them and would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a way to give back and impact your local community on a solo level, with friends and family or on a larger scale corporate level.

Last year I didn't stay for dinner but this year I did and it's very nice. That was neat. I don't know if anybody else realized it and nobody made a big fuss either which was probably very helpful.

Where to begin…read more.. I feel very disappointed overall with my experience with Hollywood Food Coalition and felt compelled to leave a review so others can take both note and warning. Hollywood Food Coalition has allowed my insane mom and dad to show up multiple times while both eating and going thru the line here during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Although I am a very healthy, active, smiley, and warm person my experience thru Hollywood Food Coalition soured for this very reason unfortunately. Awesomely, the volunteers working with the Hollywood Food Coalition are all very over the top warm, smiley, and customer service driven like myself. However, I even went so far as to communicate with several volunteers there; and passed on printed dated letters etcetera detailing and addressing this issue of allowing my insane parents to intrude into my life. I did not appreciate this harassment at all and was very upsetting! I felt disrespected also being a very awesome person who loves every second of his life and I have worked hard every single day, day in and day out to graduate university and work in healthcare to then be treated in a negligent way like that said disrespect of somebody's constitutional rights. Additionally, I am writing a lengthy letter to humanitarian rights organizations here in Los Angeles and world wide for these actions with Hollywood Food Coalition and a incident here and there during my move here to LA. To summarize, I felt the need to write this review with a one star given because it is important to realize how you treat somebody directly effects how others perceive you. Also, there should be a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment when no honesty is on the table. Vegetarian food choices were a benefit as well as the smiles the volunteers shared with clients and the positive energy the volunteers passed on thru the Hollywood Food Coalition! I thank those smiling and warm volunteers from the bottom of my heart to theirs and best wishes to the volunteers' future endeavors in whatever direction life takes them!!!!!!! All the warmth, love, and respect to you this holiday season! Cheers! With Love, Corey Barnes
