Good people, gorgeous place and nice bar. Plenty of space and had a great time. Also, good place to hangout and checkout the surrounding area in San Antonio.

Always a chill place for a beer or cocktail. Service was great, attentive, friendly and helpful. The antique structure radiates history and atmosphere.

Simple review. The building is a historic landmark so beautiful although could use some TLC. It's in the Riverwalk so nice little view. Drinks priced as they should, poured as you'd expect from a BFW, Eagles or Moose Lodge. They had dj and band playing on the weekend astronomy and evenings, good available as well. Definitely stop in to look around and spend a few bucks for a great organization.

The Rita is strong mixes well..beerita party in a cup

Fast Friendly service and ice cold beer at the lowest price in town right by the beautiful river walk and next door to up and coming food truck park. Can't go wrong making a stop here. The margaritas are strong..tart and tangy.. I made it a beerita and it was yum yum yummy

Was walking on the Riverwalk and decided to stop by the VFW. Nice area where we picked up one drinks and chilled outside. Friendly staff and quick. Everyone was having fun, just a nice spot to stop at.

When conjunto bands and taco trucks aren't dueling here they have festivals like this here too....

At this point there is no part of The River walk that hasn't been touched by expansion in some way. But as you walk closer toward the area near The Ten-Eleven or The Luxury you will see one particular spot, untouched by time. The VFW Post 76 is a historic place with a lore all its own. It is a place on any given night, especially on weekends where cold beers, jukebox music is blaring and people are having a good time. It is an old building reminiscent of the one you will find in the King William area. Outside there are chairs and depending on the event the place is either packed or lightly inhabited. There is ample space on the grounds to walk with your drinks. It serves as a good intermediary between some fancy watering hole and an icehouse. But mainly the VFW is known when it hosts certain events like the various food truck competitions and the numerous festivals it has here. Patrons that frequent this place can run the gamut from Pearl Brewery Apartment dwellers, bicyclists, hipsters, parents, lounge lizards, professionals, seniors looking for cheap Lone star beer etc. Whenever you go you are never sure what crowd to expect. There is a very laid back vibe intermixed with a quirkiness to it. On one end of the floor you might see a couple straight out of an Urban Outfitters Catalog and just across the way you will see seniors sporting Lite beers, like it was some dance. At night the VFW takes on a romantic quality accompanied by the lights that guide The Riverwalk way. In addition the servers and patrons alike are usually a friendly crowd. The beers are cheap and the Selena cover bands are even louder. Contrary to what people have said finding a parking spot can be hairy since The Luxury and The Ten Eleven people park in the same area as well. The later you go the less you are inclined to find a space. It's best to car pool with friends, especially when they have events like The Taco Truck Showdown. Either way there is fun to be had by all here. The VFW Post 76 is a unique spot. It feels like a place untouched by time but relevant to any generation that goes here. The beers are cheap but it is rich in history and charm. ps. If you are so inclined check out a video of a local band called, "Pillow Talk ~ Slip of the Pen" It was filmed at the VFW and captures the spirit of this place.

The sign outside says it's The Oldest VFW in Texas. Not sure about that but it is one of the best and largest. I think it was an old plantation house. Multi-level with a large patio for entertainment complete with a stage. Separate room next to the main house for ceremonies & private parties.

Cold beer, on the river walk, and friendly bar tenders. Parking is sometimes a little scarce, but overall, it's a great place.

If anyone ever asks you why San Antonio is known as "Military City USA" tell them about Honor Flight and the outpouring of love that SA citizens and the wonderful volunteers showed our veterans. 400 active duty Airmen and Airwomen showed up to welcome home the veterans, and it was quite impressive as they moved throughout the terminal. In addition to those 400, there were 500-600 citizens welcoming the veterans home. I know it sounds like a bunch of people to have huddled all together in our "smallish" airport, but it really was not bad at all. We got in and out with no problems, so you have no excuses to NOT attend the next one in September! It's things like this that make me say San Antonio por vida! I LOVE, LOVE my city!

What an awesome organization! Honor Flight San Antonio honors veterans from the San Antonio and…read moresurrounding areas every year by sending them to Washington DC to visit memorial sites dedicated in their honor. They first give priority to WWII vets and terminally ill veterans from any era, and then they add Korean War and Vietnam War vets as slots become available. Many people gather around for their departure and arrival flights to cheer and thank them for their sacrifice to this great nation. *Flight #008 Today a group of Yelpers/SA Explorers and I met up to welcome Flight #008 home, which consisted of 40 veterans (14-WWII, 13-Korea, and 13-Vietnam). This flight also had one POW veteran, one 100-year old veteran, and a WOMAN veteran! Yeay! It was so touching! Here is a link of the live stream today from their Facebook page of the welcoming: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1685187604890491&id=685158861560042 *Meeting Location:  The welcoming team meets at the San Antonio International Airport on the upper deck and is typically stretched from terminal A to terminal B to form a pathway of supporters on each side as veterans parade down the middle. It is a really cool experience to be a part of and means a lot to the veterans. Today the reception took place near United. [TIP: It's a good idea to stand towards the end of the welcome line so you can quickly follow behind the veterans for the reception and have a good spot to see and hear the welcoming ceremony.] *Arrival/Flight Info:  Follow their Facebook page for flight updates as most of their communication is via Facebook. Please note, there could potentially be a delay or early arrival and you may need to be flexible with time. Today the flight was slightly delayed and we did wait a very good while before the veterans were paraded down. You definitely have time to write on posters and such while waiting. Also, keep in mind there is little to no seating areas. Once they have landed, it can take roughly an hour to an hour and a half to parade the Vets down the terminal, and have the welcome home ceremony. Typically they will have a band, singers, and color guard etc... ********************************** ***Next Honor Flight Sept 7/8 *** ********************************** Really Y'all, the Honor Flight welcoming team is a great and free event to support. You will be blessed by the experience and will be so appreciated by our US Heros. Next Honor flight welcoming is scheduled for September 8th, 2018. Hope to see you there!

Do not fall for their empty promises, they will initially show interest but disappear when they get your money. Been waiting for them to make good on their promise for over a year now. They will guarantee an increase or your money back. Submitted claims, got denied, submitted a HLR and got denied. When I asked for my money back they refused, saying they would need to take another look at my claims to see what they can do. They will keep it going so that they don't pay you back. Waited a whole year plus to finally say something, which they blocked me on their FB account, told me closed mouths don't get fed, when it was I that initiated all the communication. They kept asking for my personal information which I did not trust them with anymore, asked for my mailing address to send a check, but for my safety and my families safety did not feel comfortable sharing. Who knows who they would have sent to show up at my home to harass and endanger me. I got a second invoice and months after I had already paid, and then they claimed it was an error when I pushed back telling them I had yet to see any benefit from paying. Mark Murray called me to assure me they were going to be in contact and guaranteed me an increase, for the third time, for which I never heard back again until I called them out on their Facebook page. I want my money back the same way they got it from me, they need to refund my card.
