She is incredibly thorough and professional, as well as calm and empathetic with both my cats and me (I have had to have one euthanized). She has created a tranquil waiting room with quick transfer to an exam room to minimize pet trauma of being in a overwhelming location. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is hands down THE BEST experience I've ever had at a vet's office. If I could give 100 stars I would. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have a senior dog with spinal issues and that means long-term care and pain management. Dr. Katie spent so much time with me and my dog during our visit and she truly listened to my concerns. She answered all my questions and is helping connect me with experts in areas of alternative therapies that I would like to try for pain management, some even offered in her own clinic. Blue was there for a visit because of an acute neck injury that was causing him severe pain. My goal was to help devise a plan moving forward for getting him feeling better and back to where he was before the injury. Dr. Katie has such a great bedside manner, that my boy (who was in lots of pain) slept during most of his exam! And while he slept, we discussed his options moving forward. Dr. Katie is fantastic! She listens to your concerns and will not simply write a prescription and send you on your way, like most places! Most clinics just want to get you in an out as quickly as possible in order to see the maximum number of clients they can. And in doing so, their only concern is symptom suppression, which everyone knows is just temporary. And that keeps you coming back over and over again. If you are tired of that merry-go-round, then this is where you need to go. I finally feel like I have found a veterinarian who truly wants what is best for my dog and believes that as the owner, I'm in the best position to help in that process. I left feeling so relieved having found someone who is both competent and caring. If you are more into holistic care (like I am), prefer integrative medicine, or simply want a veterinarian whose main focus is the health of your pet and the providing top-notch quality care, you have to go see Dr. Katie and staff. Initially they seemed great and the reviews were good but after the last appt to address issues with my pet not so much. It's impossible to speak to the vet for follow up questions or to tell them the treatments not working. All the assistants or clerical staff will answer which they are not qualified to do. Or they expect you to drive, wait and pay for another appt just to tell the vet it's not working what do we do next? When it should be under one issue/visit. Not only did they take PHENOMENAL care of my dog today during a full day dental procedure, but as I sat in the waiting area at pickup time, a woman came in, whose dog was a patient elsewhere, asking for advice about her sick dog. The compassion, patience, and care they treated her with was astounding. Again, this woman's dog was not a patient, but they easily spent 15 minutes with her trying to be as helpful as possible. And this was at 5:45pm on a Monday when they were likely exhausted and ready to be done for the day. I know for a fact (because I have seen it) that the last vet I went to would have summarily sent her away without any hesitation. I am not sure how this practice continues to blow me away, but truly they have restored my faith in humans. Everything about the visit was intentionally handled so as to make us and Rosie comfortable and relaxed. The doc sat with us for almost an hour, explained EVERYTHING, and was very thorough and kind. This review is a long time coming! I'm a first time cat mom, and I adopted a wonderful adult cat with a few mystery health problems. He had spontaneous bald spots and at times secondary infections, sneezing fits, vomiting, etc. From the moment I called Veterinary Park Potomac I felt at ease. I talked to Rain on the phone and she was so calm and welcoming. I knew just by talking to her that this would be a good place to bring my cat. We drive there, and there was ample street parking, only a few feet away from the door. I have been to this vet about three times and I have never had to wait in the waiting room. We were immediately whisked away into our room (after the reception desk welcomed us and gave Ezra lots of love). Then there were warm towels and pleasant smells for the cat, that coaxed him out of hiding. The vet assistants and techs were all so nice and knowledgeable. Ezra loves them. And Dr. Katie always comes in quickly and kindly. She always brings so much light and happiness in the room. She really answers all of your questions (there are no dumb questions, and they really make you feel that). They gave us great care, and now my cat is ailment free! This is a perfect, perfect place! I love this place. It makes me feel supported and well-equipped. And my cat feels loved and cared for. Thank you to everyone working here, and I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I took my 14-year Terrier to see Dr. Katie. I was not happy with my previous vet. It was a wonderful experience. In the 14 years that Bella has been going to the vet, she has never entered or left a vet office happy. Often I would have to give her anxiety medication before a visit. She hates groomers and vets. I noticed that Dr. Katie's practice is considered Fear Free Certified. I thought I would give the practice a try.
