I have been taking my dogs to Canal Clinic for over 14 years! They are simply the best!

Didn't inform me they automatically trim everyone's nails and managed to cut the quick on a dog that was under anesthesia.

I brought my puppy here for the AWLMC Spay/neuter program. I was able to get an appointment to schedule his surgery the next week after I got my certificate. Everyone that I met and talked to on the phone was very nice. I would have given them 5 stars until I noticed in the car on the way back home post surgery that my dog's nails were trimmed and 1 of them was bleeding. No one told me that they were going to clip his nails. I guess I wouldn't have cared had they not cut his quick. When I called the office they said that they always trim nails when they get put under anesthesia. I'm upset because first, they didn't tell me they were going to trim his nails, and second, they still managed to cut his quick even though he was put under and not moving. That just tells me whoever did it was careless and/or rushing. The other thing that bothered me was that I never met the veterinarian who performed the neuter... I just thought that maybe since it was a minor surgery, it wasn't their policy/necessary. Sorry to say, I'm not particularly happy with this experience.

Entrance to office is toward the backyard

What to do when your kitten starts peeing in different places all over the house? Get it spayed, apparently. Add that to the list of facts I never thought I'd need to know... It's the day after ms. pee-happy's surgery and she's already in great shape and no apparent pain, barely even a noticeable anything at the surgery site, and, best news of all, no fresh piles of urine-soaked clothes in the laundry hamper. No more piles of recently accumulated business cards rendered yellow and blurry. No more wondering what that smell is, and realizing it's your pants. Your pants that you've been wearing all day. Money. Also money: Canal Clinic is one of only two MoCo vets that will do discount spayings/neuterings. Contact the Animal Welfare League, and they'll mail you a certificate for your little guy or gal to get fixed at a discount rate, the size of the discount depending on your income level. Bring the certificate here, and if you're as poor as I am, you'll end up saving a good hundred bucks or so! Yay!

We first took him to a vet in Arlington that my family had used for decades. It turned out that Roscoe was terrified of veterinarians. A neighbor suggested that they use Liberty Falls. They have an all-female staff and since Roscoe seems to get along with woman than men we gave them a try. Dr. Geldon is just amazing. Not only is she an incredible vet, she is also so kind and so willing to listen and give us advice as we navigate the worled that is a new shelter dog. Our first visit there she examined Roscoe and then we got him off the table. We had Roscoe on one side of the room and she sat down on the floor on the other side of the room and answered all of our questions as she slowly tossed treats across the room to Roscoe. She has helped us with extensive dental work that was needed and always returns our calls if we leave questions during the day with her staff. The staff also deserves a round of applause as well. Recomended highly! Rob, Anne and Roscoe

We were able to get an appointment soon which was good. The staff was also efficient in sending over new client forms, etc. They are located very conveniently on Falls Road and have plenty of parking available. For the appointment, we took our pet to the clinic and were met by a tech at the entrance. She took preliminary information for us and took the pet inside - not human visitors allowed at the moment. The doctor called us a few minutes later and gave us a detailed account of the visit. She also made recommendations for future care and vaccination schedules. She patiently answered all my questions - and I had a few! Our pet looked happy after his visit and we had a good experience sending him there. Definitely a good veterinary practice to consider if this location works for you.

Having just experienced an injury scare with calamity I was expecting to need a gofundme to pay for things; things were not cheap but when you look at the itemized bill you can appreciate you are getting quality with value. Also, a 7 day course of enrofloxacin (1.5 pills/day) turns out to be about 25 dollars or so, for those looking for quantitative comparisons. One warning: it can logistically tricky if you go around multiple vets with procedures, you'll have to integrate the records well in advance, which means saving copies and forwarding them around. It can be best to start this interaction via email in case they call and you're not available, you can at least pass documents back and forth.
