Tip: The stairs are steep so be aware; they're not recommended for small children or people with mobility issues. When you ascend to the attic, you'll find an impressive replica of the house, and also a nice collection of war memorabilia (Swords, flags, photos, medical instruments, etc.). We very much enjoyed learning more about the history of Eugene; the docents were both friendly and knowledgeable. The furnishings and architecture are from a different time and the tour was informative.

The docent was a very kind and friendly lady who knew the most about Aida but knew something about all of them. I appreciate her honesty when we asked a wished didn't know she would tell us she was not sure but would offer a maybe because... or probably because.... She pointed out what pieces of furniture were original to the home and explained how the rest were donated. So much history! She said the last lady who owned the home was raised in the Campbell House Inn which is actually where we stayed! I didn't take a bunch of photos as I was enjoying the moment and listening to the docent tell us the history of the home. Also many other people have posted great photos here already so no point in being redundant. The docent said it is decorated for Christmas during the holidays and recommended to visit it if I'm the area during that time. The theme was weddings do when we visited as the docent explained that someone had donated a tremendous amount of wedding gowns to the museum.

Oddly enough, there were so many bags that didn't fit the criteria, so rules were pretty lac despite the sign outside the entrance. Reserved seats are available on the second level, but tickets were otherwise general admission. It looks to be an old movie theater with most of the seats ripped out. They did keep some seats in the back, helpful for those unable to stand for long periods of time. Murals enhanced the walls leading to the restrooms and second level. Bathrooms were vintage but clean with a mirrored lounge area. Drinks were available in the lobby. The crowd was a mix of generations; many parents with their teens like myself. We caught Sego, their opening band, who were pretty cool. I hadn't seen Warpaint since they opened for Depeche Mode in Chicago, 7 years ago and was excited to see them on their home turf. They put on a great show (unless you had epilepsy, flash was intense) and came out for a double encore. A great time was had by all! Easy walking distance to the parking garage.

They had Valet Bicycle Parking! Yea- I said it! VALET BICYCLE PARKING!!! So cool! Every where should have this! The music was okay- some jazzy smooth band, not my favorite but it was still ok. There were kids running around everywhere. It was really fun to see them playing at the bottle rocket booth. There were about 5 or 6 wine vineyards booth there. Tasters where $1-3 and glasses where $5-8. There were 4 different cupcake stands! I thought this to be a wonderful pairing; wine and cupcakes! It made me happy! There were a few food booths and 2 or 3 Insurance booths. It was nothing to exciting for crazy, but it was a nice/fun surprise on our bike ride today.

My compatriots…read moreand I headed down for dinner on Saturday night and felt like the whole shindig was a ghost down. The music was shutting down as we arrived (7:00), Party! was out of food, Ring of Fire was giving away mangoes (no one wanted their sticky rice), and there were several empty booths. Another bummer: no wine or beer tasting, just direct pours--with several beers already tapped out. We did find some food gems, though. The stand-outs? Delicata (dungeness crab hush puppies = brilliant) and Soubise! Soubise was making what they termed their "staff meal" and it was So Good. Pork carnitas with all the fixins, and mexi-corn with lots of lime. The bites we had here were so fantastic that they made me want Chef Gil to tire of this French nonsense and go full-on south of the border (remember those Party! Cart take-overs last summer?). But I digress. After finding our faves, we tried to sit down and watch the finale of the Iron Chef competition. Unfortunately, the announcers (save the faux-auctioneer) were so quiet (not holding the mic appropriately--either for themselves or for the interviewees), insipid, and self-centered, we just had to leave. After three years of trying to watch this competition it's become clear that there is really no producer involved, and one is needed desperately. Desserts were located on the other side of the venue, ostensibly due to its shadier nature. Vanilla Jill's disappointed ($4.25 for an icy, runny, small cup of chocolate fro yo), Lochmead thrilled ($2.00 for an ice cream!). The demonstration booths were fun, and something I'd like to see more of. All in all, I think this festival still has a lot to learn. And the lackadaisical nature of the promoters makes me wonder if that will ever happen.

The first of about 10 informational photos says that the museum is trying to be more inclusive and aware of its history, but has all the photos of the Native Americans up a staircase you cant even access. And, it looks like most, if not all, of the photos were taken without this person's consent. It's very obvious that this section did not take any direction from a Native person, or do any research into considerations to be taken. How about mention of community efforts to reconstruct the Kalapuya dictionary? How about teaching about the agriculture they did here before colonization? How about teaching about Lane County's roles in the atrocities of residential schools? How about not putting the ONLY photos and mention of native people up in a corner you can't even access? How about showing examples of traditional dances done by Kalapuya and neighboring tribes? So f*ckin, daft, y'all. Do better. I understand that its a small museum, but you could at LEAST make the stairs available to view what you do have, even though its almost comical how obvious it is that these did not want their picture taken, or didn't know, like the blind woman standing outside her house- probably not knowing who tf was there or why. The Race for Change exhibit is phenomenal and takes up a very decent amount of space, that was awesome. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of one is because of the effort put into the Race for Change exhibit, and the fiery and undeniable acknowledgments of KKK presence here in Eugene- which NEEDS to be taught about if our community wants to be a safe space.

Went and enjoyed the museum by myself had a enjoyable time reading and looking at everything.read more
