My husband…read moreand I attended the opening show of their free summer concert series, and we were in awe of how well-maintained this park is, and how organized our entire experience was. We arrived around 5:30 PM to claim our seats on the lawn, and thankfully we were able to find a parking spot right near the pedestrian bridge across the street. The city posted a very detailed map of parking options on their Instagram page ... and the amazing thing is, not only is all of that parking free, but there is a free shuttle that will take folks back and forth to their spots if they are unable to walk that far (or even if they just don't want to!) The openers started at 7 PM, and then the main act started around 8:15 PM. This gave the crowd plenty of time to get situated in their spots, grab some snacks, hit the restrooms, or even ride the carousel! This was a family-friendly outdoor concert, and they did a great job of having food/drink/activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. A glass of wine or a can of beer was just $5 each ... which felt like a steal since I'm used to spending more than double that for the same pour at other concert venues. The show itself was awesome ... we saw The Fray and they were everything we wanted them to be and more. The sound and lighting were both great. The layout of the park allowed many folks to stay in their folding chairs for the majority of the show, and still be able to see what was going on on-stage. Five stars all around for Village Park and the city of Kannapolis ... more cities should take note of what a great job they are doing here to engage their community!

The park offers two baseball fields, a soccer field, a great playground area, and a nice shelter. There is a lot of open green space to use as well. The walking path goes around the entire complex. On a sunny day it's great, but the path floods a bit when it rains. The park was very clean and had conveniently located trash cans throughout. Our first visit was around 5pm so there was tons of shade. We've also been during the middle of the day and the trees still helped out a lot. There are several benches around the playground area so it's easy to relax and keep an eye on your little ones. The playground is equipped for kids of all ages and includes toddler swings. Its learning areas include multiple mazes, sign language boards, letters, shapes, and numbers. The only downfall is the bathrooms. There was no changing station in men's nor women's bathrooms. They were also pretty dirty by the time we got there. For such a family friendly complex, the bathrooms were very disappointing.

With three entrances to this half-mile greenway (one here on Academy Ave, another on Crowell Drive…read moreand the third at Kerr St), this trail is open to walkers, runners, bicyclists, and roller bladers. The Village Greenway trail starts on Elm Avenue, NW, beside the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County. The trail travels down Elm Avenue, turns left at Alexander Street, and then right at Academy Avenue. The greenway takes you past the Academy Recreation Center and Webb Field, and then crosses a bridge and travels alongside Webb and McAllister fields. The greenway trail then crosses Crowell Drive and follows Locke Mill Creek to Kerr Street. Lots of shade, not many people walking today. It was quite pleasant to walk down and back. She gets tons of play time, good…read moreinteraction with other pups her size, and gets to sleep in her own bed during stays (most of the time it even comes home laundered! Trust me, this is no easy feat!). Teddy usually falls asleep on the ride home from camp as she's so exhausted from her doggy adventures but you can tell how happy and incredibly well cared for she is during her time away. We've had issues with boarding facilities in the past (check my reviews if interested) which left us hesitant to booking, especially considering the expense that comes with larger breed considerations. However, not only does TCC have better care, facilities, and customer service; they are also easier on the checkbook. Teddy definitely has a home away from home in TCC, and even though our new move puts us another 15 minutes out, we wouldn't go anywhere else!
