This is a really nice park! They have open space, playground, memorial, rocks to climb, stream, etc. They just recently tore down the little playground and replaced it with a super cool new one that is 3 levels. My girls love it!

Barr Lake State Park - Beautiful Tuesday at Barr Lake State park

Great experience at the Barr Lake State Park that is part of the Keep Colorado Wild Pass. When I…read morearrived there wasn't a person at the entrance booth but there is a kiosk if you need to purchase a pass. Since I have KPW pass, I just showed it to the ranger when I saw him. My adventure was to paddleboard on Barr Lake and there is a mandatory boat inspection, I was not sure if qualify for the inspection so I proceeded to the inspection area. Unfortunately, there was nobody at the inspection area but there was instructions and phone number. The ranger I spoke to on the phone was great and explained that I did not need the inspection of my inflatable paddleboard. There are places that require SUPs and kayaks to be inspected hence I called. Somehow I missed the fact that south side of the lake is closed because it is a wildlife refuge fortunately there are buoys that mark the off limit areas. Overall the State Park staff that I interacted with, on the phone and in person, were awesome (might have been the same person, not sure). I strongly recommend reviewing the information at the entrance or check out the Park Brochure on the CPW website.

Beautiful and picturesque flat 14er! I found this location during my 2020/2021 Colorado relocation…read moreand fell in love. I should preface this with I LOVE COLORADO!!! I'm a San Diego native and yes it's home but Colorado has my heart. When you arrive at Barr Lake there is an entrance fee but it was minimal. I purchased the park pass. It was worth it. When you drive through the gate the speed is slow because there are multiple parking lots and turn off areas and pedestrians so keep an eye out. I drove to the last lot where the information center is and had no problem finding a parking spot. There were several people and groups already there and setting off on their walk. I joined them. It was a clear October day in 2020 and I was excited to walk and gawk and snap pictures. I walked about for over three hours and met some lovely people. I believe I snapped over 200 shots that day. It's one of my all time favourite places in Colorado.

What an absolutely lovely experience. I went twice during a 1 week stay in the Denver area!…read more There are tons of walking trails that are so peaceful. Signs and maps were easy to follow. I went in early March and there were so many birds. The immediate scenery is flat prairie but you can walk around a couple lakes and the mountains in the distance are cool. We did the wildlife drive and got to see some bison fairly close. Would definitely recommend listening the the podcast while you drive along. The visitor's center is well done and the staff were nice and friendly. Overall would highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice peaceful walk in nature or to see the bison!

I haven't been to the Rocky Mountain National Arsenal National Wildlife Park in the past few years…read more On this trip to Denver, i visited the park with my son's family for "fishing with a cop" day (my son is a cop). This event was scheduled to coincide with a "free fishing" day sponsored by Colorado Fish and Wildlife (I'm not sure if that's their official name). The park is a beautiful wildlife refuge and it's hard to imagine what it was in the past. Fishing is strictly "catch and release". I assume that's for safety reasons but I'm not sure I'd want to eat the fish anyway. Gorgeous wildlife refuge.

I thought it was an awesome concept and so much more fun than just a lazy river or wave pool!! Business owner doesn't even respond to this review. I guess he thinks this review is not important…read more What can I say? He's already breaking the state law and he don't care. He just wants your money. No wonder this business is failing because they treat the residence like crap. they have a lousy service recovery policy. Their lifeguard training is incompetent and I can give an example. This kid was drowning and instead of the lifeguard throwing them up a lifeline he drove in the pool to save the kid really this is the worst thing you can do because you might have two drownings. So it was a hot day 102° and according to the health department they're supposed to provide tapwater for drinking free instead they tried to charge me for water. They don't have enough handicap parking and I'm handicap. They asked me for ID and I showed them an extra have my brain bleed. They didn't care. They asked me if I was a resident and I said yes, and then they asked me do I have proof of it and I said yes here's my ID and the proof where I live. I said the water makes me dizzy. I'm just here with my kid. I don't even have a bathing suit. They still charge me to enter. It's ridiculous if I wasn't a resident I would go to someplace like Waterworld so I paid their extortionate prices to enter and watch my kid. I'm gonna report them to the health department. This is a business that we don't need in our city!

We had a pickleball tournament schedule for this day…read more Tournament scheduled for 8a. Did not start on time. Coordinator wasn't ready. Having entry issues and program issues. 8a meant start time. Late players were allowed to play. Late is late and should not be able to play. No tournament board for players to follow. Coordinator used a computer and had to yell to the group, who was playing and where. Play on court 3 was dark. Construction had lights off. Ball hard to see! The coordinator mentioned that the next tournament for January, there would be 2 categories. Intermediate and advanced for more competitive play. Someone suggested a beginner and intermediate. Pickleball has a system that categorizes a player. Maybe that should be considered for the next tournament. Post the levels in the gym for players to know their progression. https://sl.bing.net/eTsBcH1XbMG

The locker rooms were pretty typical they did have a free swimsuit/towel dryer (not just a hand dryer) which was awesome I hadn't ever seen that! The ground in the locker room was very dirty and so were the bathroom stalls but I wasn't too shocked. The slide was closed when we went but the pool was good, Was lots of fun we went when it wasn't super busy but there was enough from to play games and swim freely. There were floating boards (kinda like a boogie board but not?) which we were allowed to use and the lifeguard working was very kind & fun, Made a few jokes and chatted a bit. Overall pretty average rec center pool, The little kiddie water playground was also very good. Right across the parking lot there is a larger park to hang out at after swimming!
