The vibe is very natural with rocks to scramble over, faux logs & fun rope bridges to play on. It was renovated in 2015 so all the equipment is fairly new. The ground is that nice rubbery park material so great for exploring babies learning to walk too - especially near the rope structures. Its also set back far away from the streets so no worries about your kids running into the street. There are smooth walkways for bikes & a more sandy nature path too for adventurous tots. Street parking only, but pro tip: if you want the shortest entry park on Tamarack Ave. No bathrooms tho!! Probably the only negative. It does have shaded areas to sit on benches & a nice covered set of picnic tables. No bbq tho. Bring your kids here, you won't be disappointed!!

For most of my time living in Boulder, this meant taking her to North Boulder Park everyday. Having just moved to the Glenwood neighborhood, I am no longer in close enough proximity to go everyday. Luckily, I discovered Howard H. Park. With plenty of open space, beautiful foliage, and a section specifically for off leash dogs, I am glad to call this my new spot. There is also a children's playground, walking/jogging trail, and creek that runs around the outside of the park. Generally, the park is pretty empty, until about 5 pm or on the weekends - when you're sure to run into plenty of people and their furry friends. My favorite part is a small hill/bump which provides a great place to lay down, as well as spectacular vantage point for launching the disk for my dog.

If your dog is sensitive to certain sounds like mine, he gets very nervous around skateboards, this might not be the right park for you. My dog heard kids skateboarding in the park section and decided it was a good time to leave. 3/5 stars for the dog park, 4/5 for the actual park. The park was pretty big, clean, everyone had their own space and were doing activities and being surrounded by mountains isn't too bad either.

You can also find street parking nearby just be sure to double check the signage for time limitations. You have some shaded area protected from the elements as well as a handful of tables. A good amount of grass for a picnic or playing sports. Even just rubbing around with friends or working on training with your pet. The main centerpiece is the new playground. Wish I had playgrounds like this when I was a kid. It's both aesthetically pleasing design and color wise as well as imaginative from its obvious layout design and open imaginative play design. (Nobody does but it gets the people going.) A fair amount of people loitering nearby. Park is open to all but the trash is not ideal for families and children to play. The park and playground are clean but you definitely see some refuse around that shouldn't be.

This is our go to park when we wanna get a group together to play. They have a huge field so it works for volleyball, football, kickball, soccer, etc. There's also an okay sized playground. Pluses, include two swings, one of those little shuttle slider things, a dinosaur, and a pavillion that can seat at least 30 people and a couple of grills. There's also two outhouses, which are kind of far away from the playground but at least they have facilities. Also yearly, usually when it's starting to get scorching hot they have the Arvada Kite Festival. It's a wonderful way to spend a lazy afternoon, or to fly a kite.

It has a safe ground surface typical of playground areas like this. On a very hot bright day there is limited shade and there is free street parking available nearby. We arrived with three adults and one 5 year old. In the previous visit the child's parent told us it had been virtually empty. When we arrived this day, there was a group of adults visiting together, with toddler and preschool age kids who seemed to know each other, so something preplanned, maybe a summer play group or camp type group. They were packing up and leaving so very shortly we had the place mostly to ourselves. Other than the heat, it was fun. The park has some historical significance as the Simpson Coal mine that was at one time the center of Lafayette industry was near here and the park designed around that theme. The stone entry and picnic area backdrop are done in layered local sandstone with a simulated black call seam apparent through it. It also continues onto the ground play surfacing so you can see the coal color stripe extend around the park. Bring water and shade hats and sun protection as needed for the bright summer sun. As we found out, it was very hot in late morning and we later moved on to some indoor food and sun relief. At other times of year I expect it is more comfortable.

Great street parking on all sides of the park. Loads of trees everywhere dropping twigs, pine cones and pods making it a great nature treasure hunt. In summer this will be a wonderful place that is shaded from the afternoon sun. Two big play structures are side by side, great for toddlers and older kids. They have one swing set that has 2 each of big kids swings and baby seat swings. The playground has a sandy type base that had lots of kids having a great time digging in with their sand toys. There are a few scattered benches around but have a picnic blanket ready just in case! If its busy you will want a place to park it. They do have a unisex bathroom but its closed during different times of the year, and there is not another one around so that is important to know. There are two group picnic table areas, with a nice shaded roof on them. I think you can reserve them thru the city website otherwise first come, first served. Overall, super nice park. Lots of people from the neighborhood out walking their dogs, and families hanging out. We will definitely be returning!!
