Some shows such as the Billy Joel tribute are quite popular and fill up quickly. Bring low chairs or a blanket. You can also bring your own food and nonalcoholic beverages. I was led through the neighborhood and…read morecame to a really awkward 5-way intersection where one road bends, and two others empty onto it parallel to one another but not intersecting, and 5th road is the driveway to the park, so it's by no means a conventional 5 points. Just super awkward, and despite stopping and looking both ways, some dude blew his stop (speeding in 25mph zone), and almost hit me. So finding the entrance just sucks. Once you start down the drive to the park it's even more awkward. There was zero planning for this park. Clearly land was scarce so it's a single lane driveway with barely enough room to parallel park along it, and a cramped small turnaround at the end of it by the bathrooms. 100% not enough parking to accommodate the festival I attended, but it was okay for the smallish birthday party we attended with no one else there on another day and time. If you anticipate a lot of people being there, just park on the street nearby because you won't find a space on that driveway, and you'll regret it if you do. First visit was when friends invited us to meet here for a local festival, including a free bounce slide and free live music. It was a decent band and a decent crowd sat and enjoyed them for hours while they played from under the singular pavilion, and most kids played on the nearby playground. (They also had various local businesses and nonprofits in tents around the playground, but I was surprised that every one of them was trying to sell overpriced tchotchkes or penny novelty toys for "a donation", and those weren't even nonprofits! The festival isn't necessarily a reflection of the park itself, but it definitely colored my impression of who runs things and allows things to unfold as they do. * *I will say the dunk tank was very cute (and sadly I forget who I was donating to, but it was a legit nonprofit), and that was a fair and fun way to encourage donations! Paddock has a baseball field, bathrooms in a cinder block building, pickleball, tennis, basketball, and aforementioned playground and one picnic pavilion. Friends also rented the pavilion to host a birthday party a few weeks later. They said it was easy and affordable to rent it (but didn't disclose price). In the middle of the party some 20-something came over to ask us if he could use a picnic table. I found it super rude since he didn't pay to rent anything and clearly there was a children's party going on. The table had tablecloth and party decorations all over it, streamers taped to it, gifts all over it! There were zero other tables available in the park, but that's on park planners; I'd have told him to find a picnic blanket and get lost. Our hosts were super kind to move all their stuff to accommodate his rude azz. All in all this is a safe, small park with basically all of the land dedicated to specific activity purposes, so it's not a nature-interactive site, rather an outdoor recreation site. It serves the local community, and with many residences nearby that are walkable to it, it works as it is. For non-local visitors, parking stinks, and if you aren't visiting for a specific purpose, there's nothing especially unique or aesthetic to draw you there.

When I visited they were packed with visitors for a Saturday soccer game. Cars lined the drive, overflowed onto the grass, everywhere. Still, I was able to get a spot in the parking lot for the playground, which was really nice and considerate of the soccer people, because I would not have been able to visit if I had to lug my toddler from a spot on the lawn of the other side of the park. This park is amazingly clean for the volume of visitors, and everyone was polite and respectful, except for one older boy on the swings at the playground who dropped the f-bomb (and then looked at me to see if I would yell at him for it, LOL). Grrrrr. The playstructure is standard, and as I've recently seen by exploring all this twp's parks, similar to the structures at the other twp playgrounds. They got some bargain on these climb-on dinosaurs because they're roaring from all corners of the township. My son loves to pat them and roar, so they're cool with me! This isn't a park for hiking or other exercise, but for the league sports, and playground, it's a-okay!

Underneath has some pretend items for smaller kids to play in. Multiple slides including one enclosed 2 story slide that is a favorite of ours. 2 additional stand-alone slides, a geodesic dome, swings... plenty of things for everyone to play on! There is also a couple of baseball fields that are catty-corner to one another with some grass in between. There are two tennis courts that are in really great shape and two basketball courts that are usually open. The park is adjacent to the Haverford College nature trail which is a nice way to extend a park visit or change up the walk to and from the park. Parking is a bit of a pain in the butt, only street parking however it is worth the hassle.

The ball fields and fieldhouse have separate entrances up the hill from the administration offices. The dog park is across Ellis Ave, along Ellis Ave. The female ball fields are across Bishop Hollow, on the side opposite all of the rest of the park. Soccer fields are behind the library off of Ellis Ave. Playground is hard to find; it is in way back corner behind soccer field. There are these weird "paths" back there, like someone had extra asphalt and dumped it out as far as they could go to make a halfazz sidewalk. It's more of a liability than an asset. Don't let your kids walk there because they'll trip. (Luckily, I did not learn the hard way.) Playground is a little worn, but served its purpose. Playstructure with 3 slides, "rope bridge" which was really made of metal, corkscrew fireman pole, bouncy rides, dino figure to climb on, and swings. The walking path extends from Bishop Hollow Rd (in dog park across from Library), down Ellis Ave, across Ellis past the soccer field, up past playground, and back behind ball fields, to wrap around between them to ball field parking lot. Basketball courts are right next to Library, and are SUPER POPULAR in the summer, so get there early if you wanna turn.

In 2006 Haverford Township sold the property to a developer with requirements that part of the land be kept for public recreation. These 5 miles of trails are the result, along with a rec center, dog park and athletic fields. On an unusually warm winter day Sheba and I went for a hike along the trails. We entered by the rec center, then followed the creek bed to the meadow & back. We passed a pollinator garden and some disc golf sites. It's a lovely hike any time of year. Trail markings are minimal, this would be the principal reason for a 4 star review. We could see the heavy autumn rains have taken a toll in a decent amount of trail erosion, leaving mazes of roots spread across the paths. As the property borders a busy highway we never quite got to the peaceful sounds of the deep woods. I highly recommend you have a photo of the trail map with you as it's not hard to get turned around. Wear good sturdy shoes, and a walking stick is not a bad idea. We swill definitely be back.
