I could have asked but assumed for $45 I'd get something better than a thin cut ribeye I'd expect from an Applebees for $20. Wine menu was the same, just says "house wine" and lists different grape varieties but nothing specific on the wine. One of the most generic menus I've ever seen and would expect a lot more from a place like this. I also thought the cups used to be glass but most of them were the plastic cups you get at a diner. They still had glass cups for more specialty drinks like wine and coffee but soda and water were in plastic. I was also pretty sure they used to have cloth napkins and those are gone too. I feel like this place is too expensive to skimp on little details like that. Staff is still great but they seemed really overwhelmed and we did also show up pretty late so I can't blame them for being gassed This place is beautiful, they had someone playing the piano and it was a really nice atmosphere, but like I said I hope they're just transitioning between menus and dishwater because this visit was super disappointing.

Yes, the bridge is locked off from all foot traffic by iron gates. I'm guessing that this was done to prevent the neer-do-wells from filling the interior with graffiti, something I've seen done to other covered bridges. There is access to the bridge from both sides of the creek, but the far side has better parking and even a few picnic benches. The view from there is way better too. My mom even worked for the local theater company... which adds to those nights of doing homework in the seats of the Dothan Opera House. As I got older, I also participated in a few shows here. But most of my time spent here was in the audience. If you compared this theater to some of the great ones in big cities, it might come up a little short. But if you throw in to consideration that it is in a semi small town in south Alabama, it is truly a historic icon that is a great place to watch a show. It has been years since I have come here. But even if they haven't done many updates, everything I remember was pretty good. Comfortable seats with a good view from every seat in the house. The lobby area is a little small. But again, that is if you compare to some of the bigger theaters I have been too. The fact that this theater has withstood the test of time when almost all of entertainment aspect of downtown was non-existent in the 80s and 90s is amazing. Great theater that is a nostalgic icon for me.

The staff was so kind and helpful, they were fun to talk to. It's small, but packed full of info on what to do in Dothan and other Alabama hotspots AND everything you ever wanted to know about peanuts. You can even buy all kinds of peanut memorabilia. And who wouldn't want that?
