Little Paws- on the other hand treats your pet. They actually care about the well-being of the pet. We brought our 2-year-old Rottweiler to Little Paws for a spay consultation. Because she has had a…read moreheart murmur since she was a puppy, the veterinarian appropriately advised that she would not be sedated without first having an echocardiogram. We appreciated that level of caution. We were told a mobile echocardiogram service could be scheduled through their office for $660, which we agreed to. Our appointment window was scheduled between 9:00-11:00 a.m., and we were instructed to drop our dog off at 8:00 a.m. Unfortunately, the mobile echocardiogram veterinarian did not arrive until approximately 1:00 p.m., meaning our dog was kenneled for several unnecessary hours. After the echocardiogram, we were told our dog had mitral valve insufficiency and were advised to seek clearance from a cardiologist prior to anesthesia. We scheduled a consultation with a cardiologist, who expressed concern that this diagnosis would be highly unusual for a 2-year-old Rottweiler. Although we had just paid for an echocardiogram, she recommended repeating the study. She also mentioned she had encountered prior cases in which reports from this same mobile provider were inaccurate. The repeat echocardiogram revealed a completely different diagnosis: subaortic stenosis -- not mitral valve insufficiency. When we contacted Little Paws to discuss this discrepancy, we were told that "this is just how it works" and that different providers may "see different things." We found this response dismissive and concerning. While minor interpretation differences can occur, a completely different cardiac diagnosis significantly impacts medical management, anesthesia planning, and long-term prognosis. We understand that medicine is not always black and white; however, we feel strongly that complex cardiac diagnostics should be referred directly to a board-certified cardiologist if they are going to offer in-house mobile echocardiograms without ensuring diagnostic accuracy. It has raised serious concerns and resulted in unnecessary expense, stress, and delay in proper care for our dog. We will no longer be getting our dog spayed there and would not recommend Little Paws to friends or family.

I would give this place zero stars if I could! I thought this place would be a good option given…read morethe positive reviews but when I walked into the office it was anything but. For starters, when the vet tech asked me to place my dog on the scale I noticed that there was a huge puddle of urine on it. Yuck! I asked her to clean it up before I'd place my dog on that scale. That's beyond unsanitary! Then when we got to the exam room, that also looked unsanitary! The mat on the exam table had what looked like dried urine stains and nothing smelled clean or sanitized. Really gross and now I'm worried that my dog could have been exposed to something since it's likely nothing in that exam room had been cleaned. I should have left right then and there, and wish I had because things didn't get any better. The vet took forever to come into the room. I was only there to get my dog vaccine boosters but felt they were trying to evaluate and look for random diagnosis. They also were pushy about heart worm testing and charged an arm and a leg for core vaccines. Much more than any place I've ever been. It felt very scammy. And when checking out and paying the hefty bill the receptionists weren't very friendly. Honestly, the whole place just had a bad vibe. I wish I never took my pet here. I don't plan on bringing my pet here ever again and I feel very upset that I trusted bringing her here in the first place. I can't understand how anyone gives this place a positive review. My experience was bad!!

Extremely Disappointing Experience--Unprofessional Handling of a Highly Trained Service Animal…read more I came in for a simple vaccine tech exam and requested to stay with my dog since she has never had an exam or vaccines done without me present. The staff seemed hesitant but agreed, noting that I wouldn't be able to restrain her myself--which I understood. At that time, I informed them of my experience as a prior K9 handler in the Navy and as a professional dog trainer these days. They didn't seem to care due to their protocol. Once we got into the room, things quickly went downhill. One of the techs was talking so loudly, it made both me and my dog uncomfortable. Also, saying things to the effect of "if you hold her there, I can sneak up behind her". The other tech's body language and approach were extremely tense, and when my dog tried to move away, the tech labeled my dog, "skittish." That couldn't be further from the truth--my Malinois is a service animal and is highly trained. Kimba has always done great during vet visits when handled confidently and calmly. After seeing how this situation was handled in front of an owner, I was relieved in my decision to stay with my dog. I can only imagine how they would handle a dog in the back without the owner nearby. It was very clear that the staff were nervous around her breed, and that tension completely set the tone. Instead of taking a moment to reset or try another approach, they became defensive and started touting their years of experience and arguing with me. One of the techs just straight up left the room. The one who was brave enough to stay tried to tell me that "some dogs only like one person"--my service animal is very well socialized to all environments and I trust my dog's judgement of certain people. Does she look like a one person dog to you? Overall, there was zero accountability or apology for how the situation was handled. Ultimately, we had to leave without my dog getting the care she needed. Not because of her behavior, but because of the staff's. It's unfortunate, because a calm, professional approach could've made this an entirely different experience. If you own a GSD, malinois/dutch shepherd, rottweiler, beauceron, australian shepherd, cattle dog, etc... don't bring your dog to Copperhill Animal Clinic for care.
