We took our 12 year old shitzu in for a head to tail exam and blood work. We were told that we would get the blood work results in about 3 days. After waiting a week, nothing, So we called to inquire, was told the results came back but the vet hasn't look at them yet and would call us later in the day. That never happened. We called the next day and was told the vet was away for a week and we would have to wait until he got back to get the results. They said he was the only one who can give us the results. So what happens if there is something in those results that should be taken care of sooner than later? They don't have another vet that knows how to interpret the results? This our first & last visit to Vetco and I definitely would say to anyone considering going to this place to stay away. read more

Switching to another office, I made an appt on line but it apparently never went through. I asked if I could be seen regardless of the fact that my appointment never went through because my dog is anxious and it's a pain to get him into the car to take him there, although the staff "has nobody right now" they couldn't squeeze him in. Last time I came I thought I was making an appointment and it ended up being just a vaccine clinic that never sent me my prescription for days and my dog went unprotected from ticks fleas and heartworm because they said they emailed me the prescription and it never came through. Just done with them. Also, they take the dog in the back for vaccines and blood test so that's a consideration if you want to be a part of your dog care and be the advocate and calm his nerves. read more

Took my dog to get his nails trimmed, they said they need his vaccination records ? Okay fine make an appointment with them the week after , paid 100 dollars for rabies vaccination , took the paper work over the get his nails trimmed now they said it needs to wait 24 hours . It is just nails !! Do the damn nails . 3 visits , go back and forward . Playing games .. I took the paperwork back and not going back there ever again . Wasted all the time and money. I was having a good experience at vetco til I encountered a doc and his assistant which will never touch my Animals again. All i got was meds i didnt need and over 230 dollar bill for what should have been a nail clip to fix the alreadybgrown out dew claw. All pics will be shown in court. If I could give zero stars I would! I took my puppy in to get his puppy shots and each time we scheduled for his next shots they kept canceling the appointments after we purchased a puppy package when we were at the store. We tried to get a refund because they said we would have to start his puppy shots over again and they would give us a 20% discount when it wasn't our fault. I called Vetco and they said someone would call me within 2 days to discuss it. No one called. I called them back a few weeks later to be told that we were not eligible for a refund because they have it on their website that packages are not refundable. We didn't purchase the package online and no one mentioned anything about it being my problem if they cancel the shot clinics and my puppy has to keep starting over! Don't waste your money, just pay to go to a vets office because in the end, you pay the same. read more

I discovered vital premier a few months ago and thought it was a great program and raved about it to my friends. I always talked about how good this program was and tried to convince them to go on it because it basically paid for itself and the good rewards. It wasn't until today that I realized that Petco lacks customer service and the pharmacy is clearly very incompetent and loves to make peoples lives difficult. I HAVE a prescription for 6 month supply of simparica for my golden. I ONLY want to order 1 month supply because I am not ready or want to give 200 for 6 months when I can just pay 30 for the one month. I was told that they have to contact the vet to get this approved first and that the vet isn't answering so my order may get cancelled. After telling them MULTIPLE times that my dog goes to the VETCO clinic hey finally are able to comprehend what I am saying. Please explain to me how it makes sense that you're willing to give me a 6 month supply versus a 1 month supply of the same medication? I understand if it was different meds but it's the SAME!!!!! How are you not able to get a hold of the vet who works for your company? How unprofessional and negligent does that sound? I contacted chewy and even they agree that it is so dumb that the pharmacy wont fill my order just because I want a slower supply. I will be cancelling my membership and buying my stuff elsewhere like chewy as well as not recommending you to anyone that I meet. I took my new puppy to Vetco and had a wonderful experience with a veterinarian assistant named JP. He spent a good amount of time explaining the best care for my little poodle. JP was patient and kind while I asked a ton of questions. To me, he seemed just as knowledgeable as a DVM. JP even gave me some tips on how to appropriately take care and train my new puppy. I do not recommend this business at all. They are extremely unprofessional. I took my dog to see them and the vet was too scared to give my dog her medication because of her breed (a pit bull/boxer mix) when she's really a sweet girl if anything she was trembling because she was scared. He made me give my dog the medication. Then when he prescribed her the flea, tick, and heart worm medication he prescribed the wrong weight for her even though they have her correct weight on file. So I tried to order the medication with the correct weight and they cancelled my order without reaching out to me. And told me the only way I can order the correct medication for her is if I set another appointment with the vet to verify her weight. Even though they have her weight on file already. Also they refused to sign me up for an appointment over the phone and forced me to go online and do it myself even though I was already on the phone with them trying to get the whole situation figured out. They clearly have no care for the actual health and well-being of the dogs they see. Or at least my dog anyway. And all they want to milk as much money out of their customers as possible. I highly recommend seeing a real vet and not these frauds. The best part is I'm a petco employee so you'd think they'd at least try to give me food service. read more

Dr Sagle is a Rockstar. We brought our Rambo in for Lyme disease after a nightmare visit with the emergency hospital a month prior. Dr Sagl saw the med dose & said it was no where near enough, hence the reason Rambo really wasn't improving. Once Dr Sagl got the proper dosage squared away, he sat with us & fully explained the process. A day later, he called us to go over the blood results & again, fully explained everything to us. He is very kind, caring & patient.After 2 days on the proper dosage, I can already see an overall improvement in Rambo. If you need a Vet, this is the place to go & Dr Sagle is the man!!! Stay away from Atlantic Coast emergency, they just want to keep doing test after test & cannot even explain what's going on. let alone answer my questions. I called this morning to try to get an appointment because my cat has been scratching her ears a ton and I had a lot of issues trying to get meds for her(FedEx lost the package) and they were able to fit me in an hour later! The Vet and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They took the time to ask about her, the food she eats, and anything else they would need to know. The Vet explained everything to me so well and we came up with a treatment plan that will hopefully work. The worker at the front desk also explained to me the vital care program which is great because I have been overcharged at vets offices in the past. All in all VetCo in Patchogue is great! read more

If you are looking for a very aggressive sales team vetco is the place to go. It is more like a sales office Then veterinarian.Which is more interested in your wallet than your pet. They Aggressively offer you things here your pet really does not need so be Very careful. You do have the option to decline so look at your consent form thoroughly before signing (via text ). They also perform blood work prior to consent being received and expect you to pay for It. I was more up upset at the fact blood was Withdrawn without permission then paying for the blood work my little baby did not need. We brought our cat, Ozzy, to Vetco when we made the difficult decision to put her to sleep. The staff at Vetco were amazing throughout the whole process. You can tell they genuinely care. We were devastated about our cat and they really helped and allowed us to grieve our way. We decided to do a private cremation, which they arranged and took care of. About a week later, we received a lovely card from them which was signed with messages from the whole staff. That really meant a lot to us. I highly recommend them!! read more

I just started coming over here because my favorite vet, Dr. Naseem, moved to this company. I can't say enough good things about him. He is absolutely the most caring vet that I have ever met. He is extremely thorough without being pushy or ordering unnecessary tests. I knew that one of my favorite vet techs had also transferred to this location with Dr. Naseem but when I showed up I learned that a lot of Dr. Naseem's team came with him. These are people who put up with my 20,000 questions, even though I'm a PITA. People who take excellent care of my pets and address any of my concerns even if they're silly. People who have been overwhelmingly compassionate well I've had to put pets to sleep. I am so happy they're over here. There are a ton of good things that I could say about these people but I believe the most convincing information I could write here is that I am a manager for a competing company and I get a free plan at their clinic 2.0 miles from my house as part of my benefits.... and I will still drive 15 miles out of my way and pay to come to this location.
