This process is not at all personable and quite strange. Having said that, I have learnt the hard way that getting friendly/chatty with consultants is not the ideal path to landing a role. I am surprised that there are absolutely no contact details or information on this one-man outfit except for an email address. The web details I did manage to find are clearly out of date and the landline number has been disconnected. The role I applied for also had zero details. My resume was forwarded directly to the client for review but that was it. The same role was again advertised by the company and again there we no contact details or information about the organisation. For me the most important element of landing the ideal role is the company culture and my rapport with the person I would be supporting. These intangible elements are not visible or transparent on a document. I think this process is a reflection of the organisation this agency is representing. read more

Received a call on my afternoon tea from work, called back only to be dealt with a completely rude and robotic guy who asked me if I had received the email where I had told him I am in car I haven't seen it before I was rudely interrupted and was told "I'll take that as a no" and told to call again once I've read through the email. The rude and arrogance I received during the first call alone had put me off from the role I was applying for completely however, I reminded myself that this is simply a recruiter. Read through the email which stated only yes or no answers. Called back twice with no answer where I skimmed through reviews on Verve in which all one star ratings are completely accurate. I received a call back and answered in hopes of possibly having someone else on the other line unfortunately, it was the same guy. He asked me if I understood the interview process in which I replied yes. He asked me if I seemed to be a little unhappy and I replied no. He then said "you seem unhappy" or something along the lines which I thought wasn't professional or polite at all. He then asked me if I had been on the companies website in which I answered Yes. He then asked me to tell him about about the company where I had answered briefly about the about the company but had told him I can't exactly remember (as someone who is applying for numerous roles, you won't be having information regarding each employer on hand for all the roles you have applied for especially for a recruiter phone interview). He then told me in a rude manner "I'm assuming you didn't go on the website" or asked me again if I had been on the website implying that I was lying which is beyond disgusting and degrading. I stated I had applied for the role a week or two ago and I can't remember exactly what they do but before I could even think or try and elaborate on the company and what I can remember the interviewer searches for the date when I had applied which was last week and once again in a rude manner said "a week ago is when you applied", as if I was exaggerating when I said "a week OR two ago" I was going to continue and honestly give this interview a serious shot simply because this role was something I was really interested in however, this rude and disgusting attitude I was putting up with during both phone calls completely out me off from the role itself with this disgusting, degrading and awful interviewer with his unwarranted two cents after every question. As a recruiting agency your work ethics and professionalism lack at an all time low and all your clients should re-consider recruiting through your agency because by the looks of it their loosing potential employee's. read more

Horrible service and phone manners. First the consultant at verve calls after working hours, 7pm. Then speaks to you in a very rude manner. Has no etiquettes or virtue. His tone was so rude I almost felt harassed especially when you have finished a hard day of work and have to deal with this shit. Mate to whoever the recruiter was. You are in no position speak like this. People unlike you guys are educated and qualified for jobs. On top ofbit kept sending messages like a stupid kid. Well these messages will be reported to fairwork and other government bodies. Good luck. read more

It was fast, efficient and effective. I really liked these aspects as they are rarely ever done that way. I felt accounted for and thoroughly viewed. The whole process was straightforward and I appreciate that so much as it came across realistic and down to earth, than what I am used to. I appreciated the recruitment process's simplicity and the emails were not invasive at all. I just think perhaps some people wanted to highlight themselves more than it is appropriate to, in my humble opinion. If you met desirable criteria, they simply moved you on if they chose to. I was asked to clarify something by email actually (salary expectations, I put something too broad as I am a student, a professional, but still a student and so I was flexible) and often recruiters/employers won't bother to follow up to clarify something. I find they truly give people a chance, in contrast to the below. read more

Have worked in tele-fundraising for over 2 years so I'd say I fairly equipped to conduct a respectful/ successful phone call, but being on the other end of a recruiting call from this company was easily the worst telephone experience I have had to date, let alone an interview. The recruiter I was dealing with was named David (name and shame), no respect what so ever, extremely rude, and was clearly frustrated/ flustered from the simplest of things e.g me asking him to repeat himself. Clearly not suited for a role that involves interacting with any human over the phone let alone being the person dictating whether or not someone is shortlisted to job that Verve have been contracted to work on behalf of. Maybe he was having a bad day, never know, but that's no excuse for a job he has signed up for, being polite costs nothing, I can appreciate a no nonsense approach to getting the job done, but interrupting me after attempting to explain something every single time. mate you've called ME, taking time out of my day and to be treated in that manner I cannot accept, need to re-think your career choice. David Recruitment from Verve, most unprofessional call I have received to date. read more

The process working with Verve was very direct although brief. They get right to the point with the interview process and do not bounce around which brings me to the only downside I feel the company could build on is having a small effort towards a better rapport building with it's candidates otherwise I would of given them 5 stars for having a no nonsense approach to finding suitable candidates. My experience was positive, the emails were instructional and got me prepared for the interview, someone who does not take the time to read the emails received from initiating the application will not do well with the phone interviewing stage. The speed in which they respond to you is faster than any other recruitment organisation I have ever dealt with. I wish I could actually help to improve Verve Recruitment's processes somehow as I am qualified to do so and also on how to conduct more engaging interviews from my management studies. read more

These guys have the worst recruitment process. The guy for the phone interview was extremely arrogant and rude. Firstly, they sent a long email explaining the rules of phone interview then they have strict policy of calling only once. They require you to answer just yes or no to a few questions. N you are not allowed to ask to repeat any question they ask neither question anything. N if somehow you do so, this guy gets frustrated and start questioning you like why should I repeat? Cant you listen one time? Are you doubting my English? Then he keeps talking over you, won't let you talk or say anything. He's clearly not a very good choice as an interviewer. This recruitment process sucked and it really frustrated me. I have had dozens of interviews with recruiters and companies too but nobody said anything rude ever. They are always humble and polite. But this company literally sucks. read more

I was an applicant for one of the jobs posted by verve recruitment on seek. I got few mails from them regarding being selected for the telephone interview which states that I need to answer the questions as yes or no. As soon as I got call from them I greeted the gentleman named David who didn't even bothered to reply back for it and straight away moved on to other questions and ended up my session by quoting that I missed his question . I appreciate their prompt service but the way they interview is pathetic and unprofessional. read more

If there is a zero i would have given them that. My interviewer was so rude, arrogant and he made me really nervous that I even forgot the answers. obviously he doesnt know how to warm up a person and make them comfortable to talk but i think, this is a skill not every one could have especially him. he speaks to you in an very degrading way. if you make a mistake prepare yourself for a whooping form the head teacher of this interview. I have never ever witnessed an interview like this even in 3rd world countries interviewers would give you more respect than him. wouldnt expect this kind of an interview from a company in Australia. I understand that he gets million of applicants, but in my field of work i get millions of clients how would he like it if i treated him with an aggressive degrading manners just because i see lots of ppl a day. I like the fact that you know the process and where you stand through out the entire job application and initial interview - it is short, sharp and no nonsense. These days people are used to general chit-chat and Verve's process can be a little confronting to start with (it took me 30sec to get my head around it), do what's asked and there is no problems. I'm looking for a job, they have my information and CV, they are looking for the right applicant for their customer, nothing else needs to be said. read more

First of all, Davids Recruitment expertise has been well documented throughout the internet including this thread - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2707358 I have never had an issue with recruiters throughout my working life which has been high responsibility high paid jobs and also low level. David spoke to me with absolute contempt from the first word, did not introduce himself, launched into a question to which he wanted a yes or no. He asked me if I read the email about the telephone interview, I said I am yet to receive it, he said one word only. He was then rude and belligerent to me, saying I was combative and interrupting. I advised him I cannot continue. This man is not professional and I sincerely hope that employers do not use him in the future. Kind regards, Without prejudice, Rhys read more

Replies quickly and doesn't make the applicant wait long. (Given that the applicant do their part) Most people who gave a review said that the interviewers were rude, which I got, and there is no need for it. There are nicer ways stop the interviewee from explaining themselves and cutting them off is not one of them. (Even though they did repeatedly say that the answers were to be direct) This intimidated me a little bit and got quite nervous, thinking surely the interview wasn't going to end well but it did. I wouldn't mind going through Verve again. Despite the straightforwardness, they do not waste time. read more

Email does state that a direct phone interview consisting of yes and no answers are going to be expected however when it is a heartless human being talking to someone who sometimes needs to think for a question, it is quite disappointing. Email is way to long, filled with way to much information in way that seems hard to read. If the company have a expectation that applicants are going to be drag for interviews and result to doing things in this manner, I do not recommend applying for the job that go through Verve. read more

First and foremost, i do not work for verve recruitment. I was an applicant. I called Verve Recruitment a to enquire why i have received a questionnaire once again despite having answered it the first time. Upon calling someone answered the phone, he did not even introduce himself. He started asking questions regarding the position i have applied for. I answered the questions and he managed to track down the application. Upon tracking down the application he asked me if i have read the the interview email received. I wanted to tell him the reason as to why i called but he cut me off by saying "STOP. Have you read the interview email" I said yes. He said thank you. He proceeded by telling me that if i speak otherwise other than answering his question he will disconnect the phone. I replied by saying i am not interested. I decided to write an email to the company explaining their employees behaviour. Long story short, i got an email "It's up to you. You ended the call. We can't help you if you end the call, so take it how you will." read more

I have been looking for a job for some time now. I have talked with many recruiters, who were either interested or not. Every recruiter or HR that I ever contacted was always polite, even if I wasn't at the right place to apply. I find a job that was advertised through Verve. They had an automated application system. After a few days I got an sms that told me to check my emails but didn't receive anything. I called (in the provided info number) to check what happened, only to be held at by a recruiter that I had to follow the procedure via email. Not only he didn't let me explain he didn't even let me finish one sentence. I honestly haven't found a more rude professional. Maybe you can consider changing industry, or even your manners. Maybe also learn how to respect others. read more

Very bad experience with Verve Recruitment went through the application process, got to the point of a phone interview I wasn't able to take the phone call so they had left a message asking me to check my email and return the call for the interview then i did return the call to have my interview i was told that i was very rude, sarcastic and passive aggressive in our previous conversations which is impossible as there had been no previous conversations and this was all thrown at me before i got to say much at all besides my name and that i was returning the call for the interview, I tried to be reasonable to get to the bottom of it and they were not willing to listen or help me in any way at all... Verve Recruitment have a unique method of pre-qualifying candidates. From an employers point of view, this service enables any irrelevant or uncommitted candidates to be removed from the long list of applicants the company would receive, saving them valuable time and ensuring that they can focus their energy on valid candidates. From a candidates point of view, this service provides valuable preparation in researching the company and role, prior to potential meetings with the company, ensuring that an interview would be much better prepared for. Hey David, this is the last time I will reply to you because I do not wanna waste more time but here are my answers: It does not need a professional psychologist to recognize: Your passive aggressive emails. Your condescending tone over the phone. Your short temper when you lashed out over me asking you to repeat the question. Yes, your job is to cater for applicants. We make you money. You lied. I never said I was an applicant. I just asked you to repeat and you lashed out (again some issues there). I will not continue speaking to a dishonest person. It was the way you spoke, that was the issue and it was 100% your fault. and I can back it up, internet is a great place. There is actually an entire forum page that addresses how rude you are. Also at least two people had the same issue with you, when they could not hear you and you lashed out. Just a quick google search. so yeah, you are a liar because, you have attached people over the phone before and what I went through other people have gone through too. I hope I never deal with you, hear your voice or meet you ever. here is the link actually https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2707358 read more

Going through the recruitment process with Verve is, as the clearly specify, a unique experience. The entire process took just over a day, and I am now short listed and through to the client. Which is an exceptionally fast turn around. All emails were answered not only on a Sunday afternoon but in around 10 minutes after I sent them. The abruptness of the phone interview was a bit of a shock I will admit. Though at the end of the day Verve are not here to have a chat, but to collect information to give to the client. Which I feel like they have done thoroughly and extremely quickly. Which is really what they are supposed to do as a recruitment agency, so I cannot complain about that. read more

I had one interview over the phone today. At first I thought having to go through the process was a bit unusual compared to many other agencies. However, if you think about it, all was stated was to make sure that each applicant understood what they are supposed to do, follow the correct procedures and that they applied what they understood over the phone interview. In this way, the phone interview was done in a timely manner, efficient and clear. If the applicant read the process correctly it is merely ticking all boxes. Nothing complicated. Also there's no need to install or download any app for a face to face interview. What a great idea! So it gets 5 *from me. read more

I found that the direct question and answer process very easy to follow. The whole phone interview took about 3 minutes and was a vast improvement on the usually long and tedious round of questions that most recruitment companies use. The whole process is very simple if you actually follow the directions that you would have received via e-mail before the telephone interview. In essence, I would have to say that if you had trouble during the interview you may not have read or understood the information that was provided. I would like it if more organisations were to adopt this simple and efficient way of screening people. read more
