Wow! What an amazing place! And who knew something as cool (and big) as this could be located smack dab in the middle of the city? Located basically at Ashland and Roosevelt, this gorgeous facility has a lovely lounge area, complete with bathrooms, vending machines and comfortable chairs while you wait for the real treat, which are the helicopters! I was there to do a 30 minute tour of the city, but you can also rent a helicopter to take you and your crew to a golf outing up in Lake Geneva, travel around to check out real estate or do anything within their flying range. They offer both tour packages as well as shared ride services. Gee! Too bad I can't take this from the burbs to the city during Friday night rush hour. But I digress. Back to the tour. I ordered a 30 minute tour of the city (please note: price at the time of booking this last year was about $200 a ticket. Today $150 ticket price covers a 15 minute tour). Our choice of times were during the day, twilight or night sky. My friend who is an avid flyer suggested daytime for the first time but now I know I want to go back and see our city at night. Our pilot Russ was great, explaining what was going to happen, getting us situated with headsets and then off we went! If you are a Cubs fan, and want to see Wrigley from the air- know that during game days, there is a "no fly" zone up that way so you wont be able to see that landmark. We went to the south instead, flying over Hyde Park, the Museum of Science and Industry, Soldier Field and then up through Grant Park, through downtown and out to the United Center before circling back. This business is ruining the quality of life of people living in Pilsen and around the heliport. They're hiding behind Fly Heli whom they're partners with, another horrible business driving us crazy with their non-stop helicopter flights. Today, there were a total of 16 flights within 30 minutes, from 6:28PM-7:00PM. 16 flights!!! This is torture and a daily ordeal we have to endure as residents, while some big shots are making a boatload of money off of our misery. Take your business to your own neighborhood and drive your own neighbors crazy. It's 8:57PM right now on a Saturday and another 55 flights have flown overhead since 7:00PM. By overhead I mean 20-30 above our roofs in 40-50ft high buildings. Weekend or weekday, it doesn't matter. We finally got some peace last Sunday during the day because Trump was in town. Seriously, the president has to come to Chicago so we can enjoy some peace and quiet in our homes and in the neighborhood. Beyond horrible business! read more

Awesome experience! I took a flight with my aunts for their birthday. The helicopter fit 7 people. This included our party of 3, another party of 3 and the pilot. Our flight was less then 10 minutes long for the one we chose but they do have longer flights (they go off of mileage). The views were stunning and I would definitely recommend. We did end up having to wait quite a bit until our flight even though we arrived on time so that was a bit disappointing. read more

The most exiting experience ever! Parking is free which is super convenient. The tour was fun, short and safe! I was able to bring my 11 year old along and he loved it as well!. Before getting into the helicopter, I wanted to take some pictures outside, but they didn't allow it. Only one employee was outside with a phone, taking photos for us. You're allowed to take pictures once you're inside the helicopter during the flight, but after the ride, they charged $30 for per photo the employee took. That's ridiculous charging for memories they wouldn't even let us take ourselves. read more

My brother and I saw a booth on Navy Pier about this offer. We became interested and asked the ladies for information. We had the prices details and the times and the length for this trip. It was affordable to us and decided to take it! We picked 8:30 hoping the sun would be set and we would get a great view of Chicago night lights. We were provided transportation, taken to the location, went over instructions, and within minutes were ready to fly. The rentals are amazing the customer service sucks! We came to return a car and there was three of us they did not have enough chairs (2) in the check-in area when try to sit down the employee offered to bring another chair out and didn't bring anything. In the waiting area was told it's reserved for someone else the waiting area has a sofa a bench two loveseats and more they have me standing around waiting. No one was in there. They have an hour waiting period of inspection on the vehicle. We told them we have a flight to catch. And there all in an office sitting around talking not making us a priority. This company should hold their employees to their car standards. With out customers you have no business. read more

I was very impressed by the high quality of service by everyone associated with Vertiport. I had help adjusting my flight departure time based on my son's trip home from school. One of the coolest things I've ever seen! Wish it was longer but it was still amazing!

It doesn't get any better then this! What an incredible way to see this beautiful city. The flight will take you up to Wrigley Field, then hug the shore line so you get incredible views all the way around. We went during the day, but sunset would be spectacular as well. They can also have corporate events there, as well as have one of their helicopters take you to other destinations-for example, a friends lake house in Michigan or Wisconsin. Dan was wonderful to work with and Nick was our pilot. I felt safe and comfortable and would highly recommend this trip for either a local Chicagoan, or an out of towner. read more

As a resident in this area, I am NOT amused by the noise, the constant overhead flights and the lack of respect for residents. This is the last place a helicopter operation should be located and who in their right mind would suggest that helicopters, flying amongst hi-rises, is a good idea? I found this place through a Navy Pier kiosk, and they offered me and my family a free Bus Shuttles from downtown Navy Pier to The Vertiport. I had no idea that the largest airport for helicopters is in Chicago! The Vertiport has an app where you could ride share a helicopter to resorts, casinos, golf courses and to and from airports...
