Had my wife unload all my tools out of my pickup because I was out of town and they called her 15 minutes later while she was in route to pick up the furniture and told her they sold it to someone else. They told her that they couldn't hold furniture because of too many flaky people.....again this was 15 minutes after they had agreed to sell it to her and told her to come pick it up. My wife has shopped there for 5 years and thought she had a good relationship with this company but obviously they do not care about repeat customers.

When you walk in it looks a little small shop but don't judge a book by its cover, this place can keep going and going it has a lot of little rooms and at the very far back it has an oddity's room which is amazing. In their oddity room they have skeletons, fairies, dragons, dolls and so much other fun stuff. They have a lot of vintage appliances, clothing and dishes. The owner is very well knowledgable on Tiffany lamps if you ask the questions he will definitely educate you.

I bought most of my items from seller Linda: a cookbook from the 40s, vintage magazines from the 50s & 60s, a 1917 children's book (so cute!) and a couple other items. Of particular interest was a Bell & Howell Filmo Double Eight movie camera from the 1930's. It was in good shape, but a bit overpriced. I made the person working at the store a offer for the camera for an amount other than what was on the tag, a practice that is common in most antique stores, and was informed that the prices are set and that there is no haggling. I put the camera back and was walking out of the store when my partner told me to get it anyhow. So I did. When purchasing a camera it is nice to also have the case that it came with. This one was not displayed with its case and as I was walking out of the store, in an entirely different section, was a case that had B&H (Bell & Howell) embossed on the outside. I open it up and inside the lining was the imprint of the bottom of the camera I had just purchased. This time I insisted on haggling and offered an amount that would have been a fair price for purchasing the camera and its case together as the price being asked for the case alone was over the top. The sales person called the owner and after much back and forth they still refused. Since the owner of the store was unwilling to negotiate with me I told the salesperson that I wanted to return the camera I had just purchased as I thought it was wrong to separate it from its case. The salesperson told me there were "no returns" pointing to a sign. I told said I am returning it anyhow. Another phone call to the owner. I offer five more dollars for the case. Still no deal. Long story short I return the camera and leave p!$$3d off. This store has many beautiful things in it and it is quite obvious that great care has been taken to assemble them. But, at least in my experience, in an antique store it is customary to allow the customer to negotiate.

I was looking for vintage glasses for Thanksgiving but couldn't find what I was looking for. They have old furnitute...clothes..jewely..and so much more! Vintage clothing is in the very back of the store. It's a fun place to look around! I ended up getting a really pretty glass seal for my desk. They are located on Bird Street in Oroville. Most "meh."…read more Oro Jewelry and Loan is one of the good ones, at least from a BUY and a SELL perspective (I can't speak as to their pawn/loan services, as I have never utilized them). First, the store layout is a plus. It doesn't feel like an insanely cluttered shop of junk like 1/3rd of pawn shops do, nor does it feel like a Goodwill-but-with-guns like some of the jumbo pawn shops in big cities. Rather, Oro Jewelry and Loan is sensibly laid out like a decent, condensed retail or consignment store with sections that make sense, and most importantly, are comfortable and easy to browse. For Oroville's city size, they have a nice firearms selection, with handguns well-labeled with easy-to-see pricing. They have a decent selection of guitars and basses, when I went in they ranged from sub-$100 to near 2k, and the prices seemed competitive per brand/condition. The jewelry was attractively displayed and organized, although I have no idea if the pricing is good/bad as I am not in that market. Taken together, you don't feel "icky" shopping in here, and that is a HUGE plus when shopping at pawn shops. I admit I haven't tried to haggle any prices, but the two Items I have bought so far were of a quality and condition that made me feel like I obtained good value on some harder-to-find items. Look, I get it.....pawn shops MUST operate under a certain economic model in order to stay open and to obtain a viable inventory. This inevitably makes certain people who are not appreciative of this model, well....unhappy. When you walk in with your crappy used item, keep in mind that you are asking THEM to take on all of the risk and to try and sell a used item, and to store it, display it, and market it until it sells - that is, if it ever sells. At the very most they can offer you somewhere near half of what it might sell for, but if it might take time to sell, they have to account for that, and if it is large and takes up space, they have to account for that, and if their inventory is flooded with certain items, they have to account for that and so on. So naturally, if your item is *SO* awesome that you just feel insulted by their offer, then SELL IT YOURSELF. Nobody is stopping you. Why would you get mad at someone's lousy offer if you can sell it for 2x or 3x more yourself via Craigslist or whatever? Just do it then. During my numerous buy and sell visits to the store (including one today), I heard the counter folks negotiating with two customers - and in both cases, a deal was made, and nobody was left cursing or shaking their fist at the sky, they were pretty happy. I myself have sold them two items that are not at all practical to sell online, and in the most recent transaction, the result was more than fair. Thats right....not just fair....more than fair. Obviously, I cant guarantee your result will feel the same way, given how many factors are involved in pawn shop appraisal (and given how many so-called "valuable" things are actually worthless on the resale market), but I do feel like - at the very least - the guys behind the counter are honestly trying to negotiate with people in a friendly way and in good faith, and with good humor and vibes, and that is uncommon in the pawn industry.
