The corporate overlords have decided that the best way to improve customer service is to lock up the bathrooms, remove the fitting rooms while adopting a very time consuming and inconvenient return policy for store credit only. Every other Goodwill in the area has the same challenges but they are able to handle the changes without the employees making the customers feel like they are a nuisance. Then there are the prices. This store gets some great stuff DONATED but they often price things at or above what a retail store would charge. I used to shop here almost daily. Now, I can't justify dealing with the abuse by the surly employees for the chance to pay too much for things.

I was really excited to come in and look at wedding bands since my fiancé had my engagement ring…read moreset here and previously had a great experience. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing and honestly confusing. I came in with my newborn son and my mom, and after waiting a few minutes without being acknowledged we walked up to the front desk to ask for help. A staff member assisted us and showed a few bands. When I found one I liked, I asked if it could be made in yellow gold. She said she would check with the vendor and offered to clean my engagement ring so I could look at the bands with my clean ring. After a few minutes, she returned with my ring, and when I asked to try on another band, she told us she was now helping someone else and couldn't assist us further.This was surprising since she had been helping us the entire time up to that point. I was ready to move forward with purchasing a ring but never received an answer about pricing and was told no when I asked to see another option. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

I had a bizarre and highly unprofessional experience here. I brought in two rings for a simple…read morepolish and was told it would be roughly $100, but that I'd need to leave a non-refundable deposit just to get a firm quote later because the rings had to be "sent out to a professional polisher." When I hesitated, the employee spent five minutes typing on her computer and suddenly came back with an "official" quote of over $500. It's hard to believe the price quintupled in five minutes, or that she suddenly didn't need to send them out for that quote once I questioned the deposit. Most concerning was the lack of expertise. I asked for an appraisal on a necklace clearly engraved with a "750" hallmark. She told me the stone was likely fake because the chain was white and "wasn't even silver." For a professional jeweler to not recognize the standard hallmark for 18k white gold is a massive red flag. Between the "bait and switch" pricing tactics and the inability to identify basic gold hallmarks, I wouldn't trust this shop with high-end jewelry. I'm glad I didn't leave a deposit and took my business elsewhere.

If you are looking for a unique ring here is the place to go. They are very patient as you pick out your jewelry and don't try to upsell you. They listen to what you are looking for and help you find just what your heart desires. Their jewelry is truly magical I love that they have free cleanings and they always check to ensure the stones don't come loose. We try to come once a month or every other month depending on our schedules. Run don't walk as they are closing their doors around Christmas as it's time to retire. They have a big sale going on now and I'm hoping to get some matching earrings. It's going to be a sad loss to the community when they close their doors.

It was my first time visiting Old Sac so it was interesting visiting here and finding Skalet tucked away here. Street parking (if available) is cheaper than the garage as FYI. Howard was very welcoming and kind as other reviews noted. He also seemed very honest with fair pricing without trying to upsell. We plan to return to in the future once we're ready to purchase!
