I have had horrible experiences with makeup artists *cough* at MAC *cough*. I have some personal ideas about makeup + me, like, for example, that I don't think foundation looks "right" on me, and I don't think I have lips made for wearing lipstick. It's just not me. I can't count how many times I've been pressured into wearing foundation when I.Don't.Wear.Foundation. It makes me look completely crazy, and I hate it. Veronica was the FIRST mua that didn't pressure me into it... In fact, she actually agreed with me that I look better without it. THANK YOU!! I'm not crazy!! I first heard about her through Anju (of AnjuThreads), who was hosting Veronica at her threading salon as one of her summer pop-up events. I was celebrating my birthday the week before the event, but figured that if Anju liked her, I would to. AND I LIKE HER! She came to my apartment and got me ready for my birthday with a gorgeous purple smoky eye. I was a complete mess that day because a billion things were going on, including the venue for my party changing 3 times in a day, and the built-in shelves I installed over my bed fell ON TO MY BED while I was at work (and thank god, not in bed), but Veronica was completely calming. Love love LOVE! Veronica did the makeup for my wedding this past weekend and blew me away. She is insanely talented and also very understanding when you want adjustments or changes. I'm not really a makeup wearing girl. During my trial, I had trouble getting used to the lipsticks Veronica tried and the amount of eye makeup- I seriously have issues with makeup! She was so understanding and said she appreciated my honesty. We worked through some other options and I'm so glad that I chose Veronica to work with! I wanted to do a follow-up review of working with Verónica at my wedding on October 18, 2015. First, I want to note that I confirmed with her about location and logistics about two weeks before the wedding. She immediately responded via text and was so enthusiastic. She also followed up a week and then a few days before the wedding, reminding me of the lipstick that she had used and what I should make sure to have in my bag. The day of the wedding she arrived about 20 minutes early to set up for working on me, my mother, and future mother-in-law. She started with the mothers (I posted pictures). With both, she was welcoming and conversational. With my mother-in-law, who primarily speaks Italian, she still engaged and communicated, giving her what she wanted, a natural look. She had been very excited to be having her make-up done for the wedding and the experience met her expectations and more. Both mothers were so pleased at the care that Verónica showed and for her great skill in highlighting their best features, which definitely shows in the pictures. As for me, it was WONDERFUL to work with Verónica again. She's an easy conversationalist and totally professional. She had the pictures from the tester session to which she referred throughout the process. I had pretty tight time restraints, and she met them with ease. Arrived and finished early. By the way, I tell everyone that I'm not a human being in the morning, but she was calm and focused that morning, which gave me such a great frame for beginning my day. It was easy to be joyous and excited and not worry about the details of the wedding at that point. It was such a treat to relax and trust that we would be well taken care of. Working with her actually has me wanting to set up a tutorial so that I can learn from her magic! I felt so beautiful on my wedding day. She was a part of that. I would love to learn more about how to conjure that feeling more often. As someone else has said, she is "insanely talented". She's also kind, sweet, generous in her attention, and calming. Veronica did my makeup for my wedding and she was absolutely fantastic. She gave me exactly the look I wanted - light and natural - and was super flexible and accommodating and altogether just a lovely person to have around on your wedding day. I don't usually wear much makeup and was very worried initially that it was going to look like "too much." I did a trial beforehand and Veronica spent a lot of time listening to my likes and dislikes (and soothing my fears) and came up with something that was perfectly blended, completely natural looking, and made me look like the prettiest version of myself. It was absolutely not a problem that I was the only person getting makeup done (no bridal party). On the big day it was even better. Veronica arrived early (actually she beat me to the venue), was very patient with some inevitable interruptions, and most importantly the makeup looked fantastic both in photos and in real life - even better than the trial. It lasted the entire day under some hot July sun with no touch ups, and even looked good when we left the after party at 3am. I was so impressed with my make-over, I asked Veronica to do a PopUP at my salon so my clients could enjoy and learn about her services.. and that's saying a lot. :) I do a decent job with my make-up. She responded quickly, and we made an appointment for a trial that was convenient for both of us. When I went to her for the trial, she was extremely friendly. Veronica is as good as it gets. I was fortunate enough to have Veronica do my makeup for an event and she turned me into the most beautiful version of myself. Her makeup is flawless, and not at all caked onto your face. You still feel like you - just more beautiful.
