We attended the Littleton Pie Festival and the Art Show on the grounds by the statue and community center this weekend. It was a great time and the pies were delicious! I also made sure to visit my fave ArtStudioNeko and get one of her prints... she's so talented! Definitely recommend checking out this beautiful statue and any and all events in this amazing town!

I came across the information about the statue in my research when I was planning a Santa's village weekend. I then knew I was going to Rey and make a sighting happened. Saturday morning. 3 inches of snow on the ground and our cabin has no breakfast. Crum Bum (bakery) hit my radar. I parked directly across the street from Crum and I saw the Polyanna Gateway! Then I thought, where is the statue and just beyond my husband's truck, there she was! It was meant to be! I happily went up the large step, took a photo of her and then us together. I then sent the photos to my Mom!

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE…read more 8 Stars. (Absolutely unrelated to the fact that the library houses my graduate thesis.) Baker Berry Library is the perfect union of old & new. Old: Baker Library New: Berry Library (Added on later.) Highlights -- * Baker Tower: Centrally located on Dartmouth College's campus, the tower offers the best views of Hanover, New Hampshire. * Borrow Direct: Access to the library collections at Brown, Columbia, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton & Yale. (Why isn't Harvard included?) * Current Periodicals Room: Over 1,000 current issues of science, social science, humanities, & general interest journals. * Evans Map Room: No excuses for bare walls!! * Jones Media Center: My source of entertainment between partying... I mean, studying. Boasts over 5,000 videotapes and 1,000 DVDs. * Book Arts Workshop: The outlet for my creative juices between partying... I mean, studying. * The Tower Room: Dim lights, dark wood & leather seats - Study in classic New England elegance. (Between partying.) * Novak Cafe: Where to grab a quick bite. (On my way to partying.) I want to give Baker Berry 10 stars, but the blitz terminals aren't sanitized frequently enough (at all??) & operating hours should extend to midnight at least. How many times did I try to return my Animal House & Sports Night DVDs en route to frat row, only to be denied?! ...I mean, where am I supposed to study at 11:30 on a Friday night?? Maybe I need a copy of Heidegger's Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics & maybe I need it at a half past 11!

My friend goes to Dartmouth and gave me a tour of this main building on Campus. I was not expecting the building to be very different inside. There are multiple study area: a traditional dark oak room with chandeliers, a more modern and open study area with lots of light, and a basement area with a large mural. They also have a side room that's in memory of Dr. Seuss, who was an alumni at Dartmouth.

If you're a Middlebury College student or a resident of Middlebury town looking for a quick escape,…read moreyou might find yourself here. This place is a free art gallery at the end of Merchant's Row that's open to the public. Here, you can walk in and look around at all the art pieces. I reckon that the gallery doubles as a marketplace for art buyers, as there are price stickers attached to all the pieces. The art here is also quite expensive! (I suppose most fine art is. Makes sense.) There's something soothing about walking around the gallery. Perhaps it's just the small town atmosphere that fills the town. Edgewater is just so easily accessible if you ever find yourself wandering around in "downtown" Middlebury. It serves its purpose well as an art gallery, no complaints. (Though, I recall seeing plastic vegetables mounted on a wooden board being sold for several hundred dollars. Everybody's a critic, including me.) This place serves as a great way for local Vermont artists to get their name and work out there. I hope that when I come back, I'll see some new pieces-- otherwise, these artists likely aren't selling their work!

If you're looking for a stodgy and crowded venue covered in red velvet and throngs visually dissecting the same Picasso since 1970, and they have the same exhibits over and over, this is the wrong place. It is dynamic in nature and the offerings vary from time to time. As well, it's a museum of one of the finest academic institutions in the country. It's designed to make the visitor learn. And may put them perhaps intellectually uncomfortable as a new points of view on people and events and descriptions of notable personalities in all their humanity are placed in the open. A painting of George Washington whose face depicts both the founding father and the slave owner is a strong message but one designed to provoke thought. It's no charge to come here. Superb museum and amazing exhibits.

It's a good thing they do not charge admission though because, honestly, I wouldn't pay to walk through several silent galleries with no staff to liven the experience. The guides were very inattentive and seemed to be more interested in what was on their phones than in the visitors and what was happening around them. As a former musem coordinator I found this very concerning, especially with all the valuable pieces on display. In addition, they did not appear to be very interested in sharing information with visitors. I mostly recieved, curt responses to my questions, like: "No idea." This museum has so much potential, if only they could get the right people on the floor.
