The carrots are especially awesome, but they also have perfect tomatoes, the best corn ever, great arugula, mixed greens etc. Strawberries and blueberries are amazing as well. They also have cheeses, milk, local meats, baked goods - if I lived in the upper valley I would do almost all my grocery shopping at Killdeer. No need to shop elsewhere!

So, a half star off for mediocre value. Another half star off for business practices, based on Killdeer's sanctimonious statements trying to justify their policy of importing foreign workers from poor countries to do their farm labor, instead of hiring local workers. Come on guys, you import foreign laborers for one reason: to maximize corporate profit. There is no difference between what you do, and what mid-western meat-packing plants do. And that's okay -- I feel Killdeer is entitled to hire whoever they want, as long as it's legal. But I resent the Karl Rove-ian style "Clear Skies" doublespeak spin.

I emailed their landlord, which is the Hanover co-op and reported the issue. They said that it was the farmers market management who was responsible for maintaining the landscaping. The Norwich Farmers did not reimburse me or even respond to my emails with their insurance information. I was going to take them to court, but that would involve my insurance and I don't want my rates to go up. I used to be a customer for years as I live locally but due to their complete disregard for their customers, and horrible management I will never return. I can get what I need from the farms I buy from directly. If you value your car or drive an expensive car be aware.

As usual, I arrived with my clients, politely said hello and stated I was there to take photos by the Christmas trees. Christine (whom I had never met) said nothing about rules or purchase requirements and explicitly told me I could take photos. Afterward, my clients warmed up with their baby in the car and planned to cut a tree, but Christine assumed we weren't buying anything and escalated the situation for no reason. I left with my clients down the hill to take a few last shots and as I was getting into my car, Christine brought her husband Mike down in his truck to "scare me off". They flew past me, tried to block me from leaving the road, yelled at me to "never be seen on the property again," and accused me of "taking photos without buying anything" as if that were a crime. It was aggressive, threatening and completely unprofessional. This is a farm open to the public - visitors are NOT required to make a purchase just for stepping onto the property. If they have rules for photos, they can communicate them like adults instead of resorting to intimidation and theatrics. I won't be returning (for my own safety), and others should think twice before giving them business. If you do visit, apparently you'd better buy something immediately, since that seems to be their unspoken rule.

Waiting a few days for the tomatoes to ripen-- hoping and expecting that they will be delicious. Very nice man. Also has kale, basil, and other greens. Highly recommended. There was. Family bluegrass band playing on the bandstand. Plenty of nice locals greater us and were extremely friendly. The owner raises their own beef and pork and uses the local butcher/ slaughterhouse in St Johnsbury to get some great steaks, chops, sausages, ground beef, and more. I got some steaks and ground beef. I was happy & surprised at how gamey and wild their grass only fed cow was. I was not used to that flavor! It was fun and exciting at the same time! Is this the real beef? Is this how beef REALLY tastes, maybe 100 years ago? Price, yeah more of course, but go for it! Very lean beef! Comparable to buffalo. Hartland FM is Fridays 3:00 to 7:00 and a wonderful location at the local Hartland Library.
