This is The Frost Place, the former summer home of American poet Robert Frost turned museum and…read morehistorical landmark. The property is not very big, but nonetheless it is quaint and charming. A beautiful mid 19th century farmhouse situated on a quiet, rural dirt road with woods behind the house and breathtaking mountain views from the front porch. You can definitely understand why Frost loved spending his summers here with his family. A good portion of the house is closed off and used as a private residence; it was explained to us that they use it for a poets-in-residency program, meaning that they select a poet to live in the house each summer as a way to give them space and time to concentrate on their work. The part of the house that is open to the public is filled with artifacts including photos, newspaper clippings, old samples of Frost's writing and even original furniture. There's also a barn on the property where they hold a variety of workshops for poetry and the arts, and have poetry collections from some of the poets they've hosted for sale. There is also a short trail in the woods behind the house featuring signs reading some of Frost's works. There is a small, reasonable admission fee. I will also say that I don't think you necessarily have to be a big fan of Robert Frost to appreciate this place and the history of it. So if you're in the area and you have an hour or so to kill, it might be worth stopping by The Frost Place.

I tasted both his choices, I liked Especial but pilsners definitely aren't my thing. He liked it though. Couldn't help myself and bought a shirt and 4-pack of Combover as well... I wandered into the toy and book shop and was greeted by a sweet doodle breed who is their mascot. S/he was so cute if it stood still you would think it was a stuffed. Noticed some dog bowls on the sidewalk and a new K9 store opened recently. Way to go Littleton!!​ The flowers hanging along the street and people playing pianos are a wonderful touch. The painted paws on the sidewalk (suggesting dog friendliness) seemed to us to be out of place. Small town with a charming atmosphere [Littleton NH]…read more Littleton was our next stop from The Old Man of the Mountain in Franconia. They aren't very far from each other, some 15 miles. Main Street was busy... ahh! I see, the town was celebrating Pollyanna Glad Day. This is a big deal for this town paying tribute to their hometown author, Littleton-born Eleanor H. Porter. While we didn't see much of the celebration going on we did notice that Main Street was busy with both car and foot traffic. We parked behind Main Street (metered parking) and walked down towards the RiverWalk Covered Bridge. The bridge is long and crosses over the Ammonoosuc River. Beautiful setting with the mountains as backdrop. We almost forgot to look for the bronze Pollyanna Statue which was situated on the lawn outside the library on Main Street... there she was, the cheery and welcoming ambassador, New Hampshire's most welcoming attraction as the centerpiece of historic downtown. Main Street is a quaint little town... like being transported back in time. There where local shops, restaurants, breweries, and galleries. There was plenty to explore in this wonderful White Mountains community, unfortunately, our exploring was cut short when the skies turned gray and started to rain... hard. This was in June... Some accept a cot for a child and others are dog friendly. The Covered Bridge in Littleton NH…read more There are many covered bridges throughout the State of New Hampshire, this one in the town of Littleton, at the edge of the White Mountains. The Riverwalk Covered Bridge wasn't visible from the main road but is located behind Main Street. I believe the building next to it is the Schilling Beer Co, the one with a cool waterfall behind its 18th century grist mill building on the river. We parked behind the shops and walked down towards the historic sign. We were able to see some great views of the river as we walked across the covered bridge. The bridge is long and beautiful. We were impressed in how large the bridge was. At the other end of the bridge is a Farmers Market building. Very pleasant walk... we then made our way on foot to check out Main Street. Review #3042
