I got PLENTY of wear out of my UGG gloves thanks to the almost unbearable amounts of snowfall and routine walks for fresh air after being working and living in the same quarters. Some way some how, they became stained and while I didn't have plans to wear them anyplace else, the thought of them looking less than clean led me to find a cleaners who could help. Verlare did just that! Like the others it takes 2-3 weeks because it's sent off and you're told the color might darkened as a result. So plan accordingly. read more

They are constantly ruining my moms black pants. There was a grey film on them repeatedly. They also made a terrible mistake with expensive slacks that needed to be altered. I contacted MANY dry cleaners before entrusting my Lazaro wedding gown to Verlare for cleaning. To me, that is the Porsche of wedding dresses and I was so nervous about sending it off for a few weeks to be cleaned. Verlare did a FANTASTIC job. Everything from their customer service to the cleanliness of the shop to their pricing is spot on! My dress was cleaned and packaged in a beautiful box for just under $200. A lot of competitors were going to charge $250 for the same service. When I called to see how things were going with my dress (I know...nervous...just let the professionals do their job!!) and when it would be ready, the manager, Rob, personally called me back. I took my Red Canada Goose Down coat here and the chemicals they use to clean the coat created a dull white/gray film on the coat removing the brightness of the red color. They also did not remove the dirt spots on the wrists. We had to bring it back twice and they didn't care about our concerns. I've been being my husbands police uniforms here for years. Lost our business. Maybe the chemicals they use are ok for standard black coats, but not coats that are made of primary colors. read more

I decided to go to this cleaners since it was close to my house. There are no prices listed and they just gave me a ticket and told me to come back tomorrow. When I inquired about pricing I was giving some weird stares as if they have never heard someone ask a question. I shrugged it off because I thought it was me. Do not tell me I am the very first person to Yelp this great dry cleaner!? OMG! I am very picky about my dry cleaners... and after moving out to Lombard the dry cleaners have been very hit or miss. And most of them have to send out their cleaning.. to other cleaners, if that makes any sense. I have driven past Verlare Cleaners many many times and was always like... I wonder how quick, green, and pricey these people must be.. and do they do it onsight, the cleaning that is. So the other day I walked in with a dress that had to be cleaned and a great silk shirt of mine, that not only had to be cleaned but had to be repaired too, due to a slight tear in the hem. The place is huge.. with many walk up counters to place your wares upon. I can see how they could get really busy.. yet never have a line. Which is a huge plus. I dropped my stuff off on a Tuesday and they said it would be ready for pick up anytime on Friday after noon. Right on! I dropped by on Saturday before I had to go to work and low and behold, the place was really busy and they had 5... yes 5 people working behind the counters. there was no line... no wait... and they were very nice, especially with me not bringing my ticket... oops! (My bad) Then they told me how much is was for the cleaning and the tailoring, and some press work. $14.00. I'll take it! Good job Verlare...! read more

I wish I had 5 stars to give Verlare Cleaners because they are certainly the most convenient location for me, however I will no longer be giving them my business. The customer service is the worst I've ever encountered. I took my raincoat to be cleaned and it came back with the leather buckles on the sleeves completely ruined. I spoke to the manager who asked me to bring the coat back in. Once I brought the coat in, I was never called back with any updates. After 5 days, I called to see what was going on. The manager agreed that the buckles were ruined but was unapologetic. He said the tailor had sewn on some replacement buckles that were close, but not perfect. Because it was the middle of April and raining almost daily, I agreed to what had been done. When my husband went to pick up the raincoat, he asked if we could be credited back the cost to clean the raincoat for our convenience. He was flat out told, no. At this point, I was quite frustrated. Due to their mistake of ruining my coat, I was still charged for the cleaning, was not apologized to, and had to make 3 additional stops at the dry cleaners that I didn't really have time for. I wrote the manager an email with my feedback. Never heard back. I mailed the email to the owners with another letter (assuming they maybe didn't receive the email). Never heard back. Great customer service, guys! (sarcasm) And, I should add - this is a very expensive dry cleaner. read more

Do not use these cleaners! I dropped off drapes for cleaning. Young girls behind counter failed to tell me that stains can come through on drapes with cleaning. Just took the drapes and gave me ticket. She was supposed to have me sign a waiver that this was explained but did not. The expensive, custom drapes are ruined and they refuse to compensate me. The manager Frank admitted they screwed up and should have told me (I would have chosen not to have them dry cleaned!) but says they are not responsible. I will never use them again! Returning to Chicago for a trip, we actually made sure we stayed near Elmhurst so that we could visit some old "haunts" we frequented when we lived there until 2011. Having Verlare nearby was just an added bonus... It happened that I needed a shirt dry cleaned for a family event. Rather than use the hotel's services, I trusted the expertise & promptness of Verlare once again... and they didn't disappoint. Same day pick-up (because I brought it in early enough), and they even checked their UNCLAIMED section for a shirt I thought I may have left behind when we moved. The clerk even got back to me in a timely fashion on that task, too! This place is just one of the things my bride & I miss about that town. They set the bar pretty high when we moved out to AZ. Are they pricey? I don't know, they'r enot as cheap as the $1.99 chains... but I have never, ever had to worry about the quality of their services. read more

Chose this place because the person I spoke with said I would be able to get my clothes before I needed them (48 hours later). They partly succeeded. I brought in two shirts, of which only one was returned. They have no record of me dropping it off in their computer so now I get to sit and wait until the manager looks at the security cameras and figures out where my other shirt went. So here I am, with a business event in two hours from now that I am no longer attending because I do not have the proper attire. The other shirt would suffice, but I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and this evenings event is outdoors. I wouldn't want to make that shirt smell and then be out of nice clothes to wear tomorrow. If you have to have clothing dry cleaned in a rush, feel free to come here as they can do it, but you apparently only have a 50/50 chance of them actually being able to find it. This last time, Rob and his team noticed some areas on my drapes that were deteriorating which dry cleaning would have ruined and called me to discuss my options. I don't usually write reviews but I just had to for my most recent experience. I have been going to Verlare now for years and have always had a good experience. Most recently I accidentally ran my favorite silk blazer through the laundry including a high heat dryer cycle. The poor thing looked RUINED, mind you, this is a 600 dollar blazer so I was devastated. I didn't want to give up on it though so I brought it to verlare and they SAVED IT!! I've never been a fan of dry-cleaners, especially after a number of issues with some cleaners in Western Springs and Hinsdale. But Verlare really stands out when compared to its local competition. I've always been thrilled with their service, especially from the manager Rob, and their attention to detail when I've pointed out specific stains on the clothes I'm giving them. Avoid this cleaner. Took a pair of velvet palazzo pants in, said mark no crease ( seemed obvious, but stated it clearly when dropping off). Picked up with a hard crease. The young girl said she could get it out. I thought let her try, as they were unwearable in the state they were in. Of course it didn't come out, the nap was going in all different directions, the crease was a light line down the front and back of both legs. The owner came out, slapped a $5 bill, and a $1 dollar bill on the counter. (the cost of "cleaning" my velvet pants.) He turned and walked away. No apology, nothing. The dry cleaning and laundry will get done and on time. Whether or not your customer service experience is good, well, your mileage may vary. Some days I drop off here and the girls are super friendly and fast. Other days, one of them may treat you like your wife after finding out you've been cheating on her. Their attention to detail is excellent and I don't have a problem with the collar ID that another reviewer complained about (it doesn't show through, even on my white shirts). Do not bring your expensive dresses and gowns to their tailors. The owners do not stand by the customer. Be careful what you say in front of them. They will say that "in their professional opinion, everything is fine", no matter that the customer is unhappy with the work that was done. read more

I've heard great things about them from others. But when I took my shirts there they wrote on the inside of the collar with a permanent marker. Worse still, it's just some internal code based on last name & address, so not even my initials, etc. After several subsequent trips to other cleaners, the markings still haven't come out. Would give "0" stars if I could. First, on every time I have tried their cleaner services, either (1) the quality was poor, (2) they could not locate the expensive item upon pickup, (3) customer service was horrible, and (4) as always they are overpriced, with no apparent specials. More annoying is their large sign out front, which "preaches" with adages and messages that are "pie in the sky" at best, but often blatantly untrue, and offensive. I wrote a nice letter to both of the co-owners, and didn't even receive an acknowledgement, or courtesy of a reply. How hard is it to say ... "we have received your feedback, and wish you the best. We hope you will try our cleaning services again in the future". They didn't even have the class to do that. They are a cleaners - be a cleaners, not preach to me. Do what you do, exceedingly well, and don't try to be what you are not. However as stated at the outset, they don't even do a good job of cleaning. read more

Had my prom dress altered here and was not happy. They didn't take enough off the bottom and I was tripping the whole night. They also reinforced a seam which made the dress about one whole size smaller. They get three stars because I have used them for dry cleaning before and I have never had a problem. Verlare Cleaners motto is "Customer Care by Verlare". I actually give this establishment 0 stars. They should not be in business. They have ruined an expensive BCBG suit as well as a Calvin Klein suit totaling over $600. The BCBG suit is puckered in places with little white balls on it which one of their employees told me is actually threads coming apart. The creases in the pants were almost burned in and the crotch of the pants was all wrinkled as if someone had worn my slacks. Frank Voltarel, the owner, and Rob Zownerega, the Customer Service manager told me the suit was made with glue in between the fabric and the lining, and expected me to accept this as their excuse for ruining my suit. Of course I called BCBG who laughed and said absolutely not. BCBG did tell me that cleaning establishments have to carry insurance for damaging clients clothing, but apparently this establishment either cannot get insurance because of their practices or does not want to pay their deductible and provide any customer service. The Calvin Klein suit had a very small ink mark on the front of one of the pants legs. I had told the counter girl there was an ink mark but it was fine there--- it was unnoticeable unless you looked for it. When I went to put on that suit, I found a fairly sizable glaring white spot where the ink mark had been. It looks hideous as if someone spilled bleach on the pants. Apparently Verlare does not train their employees who actually handle the dry cleaning. Frank told me they use the same cleaning method on everything which I found very strange because we all know you don't treat every fabric the same way. My BCBG suit did have some spandex in it so I am guessing they over processed the suit. I was busy and waited a couple of weeks to call about the damage to my clothing. I spoke with Frank. He informed me that he initially had offered to repress my BCBG suit and that he did not want to hear anything about the Calvin Klein suit. He said I was not allowed back into his store. It appears both Frank and Rob are experts at bullying, especially if you are a woman. I just recently had another BCBG suit cleaned at Executive Cleaners at York and Butterfield which is about a mile away and I turned out beautifully. No puckering, no threads coming out, and pressed beautifully---I would choose this establishment in a heartbeat over Verlare. I am proceeding with a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and have spoken to local newspapers about voicing a opinion about this establishment. read more

That's just ridiculous that you don't even want to take one minute out of your day to answer a customers question. We have been taking a considerable amount of dry cleaning and laundry to Verlare EVERY SINGLE WEEK for the past 27 years. Never have they lost an item. Always the clothes come back in perfect condition and lovely. Verlare makes small repairs that I don't even realize we need like button replacements, zipper repairs and seeing hems or tears. Items are ready and waiting at the time and date promised. Parking and in/out are quick, easy and accessible. The personnel at the counters are friendly, polite, efficient and accurate. It is hard to think of any kind of other business in the area that does everything as right and efficient as Verlare. I recommend them to everyone that moves into Elmhurst or friends here that get frustrated with their cleaners. read more

I've never had a bad experience with the cleaners at Verlare. In fact, a few months ago, they did a same-day rush on a dress in even less time than they'd normally provide. My rating stems from a tailoring experience. I brought a bridesmaid dress in a month before a wedding. I am pregnant, so the tailor asked that I come back 10 days before the wedding, which is what I did. I was told it would be ready in 6 days. I went in on the date it was supposed to be ready and was told that to come back the next day. The following day, I received a message that it would not be ready and requesting me to call back. I called and spoke with the tailor who asked if Friday was ok. I let her know that I absolutely needed it Friday by 9 am to leave for the wedding and she agreed. I went in at 9 am and not only was my dress not ready, but it wasn't at the store because the tailor took it home. I was told to come back at noon. I arrived at noon fairly panicked and waited another 15 minutes. I was charged $30. I asked for a discount and was told that I received $8 off for the inconvenience. I spoke with the manager who apologized, but continued to insist that the issue was that the cups didn't arrive in time despite being in an area with many sewing stores that sell cups. Instead of offering a steeper discount, the manager put me in the awkward position of telling him what I think I should have paid. He ended up handing me a $10 bill in cash and I left while still clearly upset. I received the dress back with a stain (it was a sample) that had not been cleaned as originally requested and cups that were not placed correctly. The cups were so poorly placed that it would have been obscene for me to wear. I had to cut the cups out and sew them back in positioned more appropriately. While my cleaners experiences have been great, I probably will find another cleaners in town since I was left with such a bad impression of this entire experience. read more

I just wanted to point out that Margaret B's review literally sounds like as if it were paid by Verlare. If you read her other reviews on Yelp, they all sound like paid reviews. It's funny to point out that she had SEVERAL, IDENTICAL bad experiences with other cleaners and NONE of them compensated her for her SEVERAL losses. Isn't that funny? She couldn't even name one of the cleaners. Keep in mind that she had to mention a bad experience that was very similar to mine, 7 days after my review was posted, and she hasn't experienced it at Verlare's herself yet! and felt the need to bring it up. This is very funny. Simply, it's safe to imply Verlare paid Margaret B. to write that review to assuage my review. You're probably wondering why I followed up on Verlare's Reviews. Simply, I had a horrible experience there (read my earlier review on Verlare to found out what it was about) and simply came across Verlare again when viewing my yelp and I care enough for them to receive the review they deserve, so I followed up with this one, that's HOW frustrated and angry I was after my experience with them. Enough to post a follow up review. I didn't have a Yelp account before my experience with them, but I made one literally just to write them a bad review. Keep my thoughts in mind next time when choosing a cleaner that deserves your hard earned money. This is my post from 8/15/2017 DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT GO HERE. You might justify going here because of the several good reviews, but just know I used to have a good rating at this place like the ones on here to only be surprisingly disappointed just very recently... You might take this review for granted and go there anyways and have good visits there, but just know that in the near future you are very likely to be disappointed... I brought in a new shirt from Express to be dry cleaned here, with the collar tags still left in it. They didn't take the collar tags out, cleaned the shirt with them in and that left EMBARRASING PERMANENT WHITE STAIN OUTLINES OF THE TAGS where they were, basically ruining the shirt. I made several 20 minute trips to the cleaners because they tried several "Re-do's". After the last "Re-do", the manager said all he can do is refund me for the cleaning... Right, like $2.50 is going to make up for the fact that they ruined my shirt. I suggested the manager give me a refund for the cost of the shirt if I bought the receipt in and he said no. I thought that'd be a logical thing to suggest since Farmwood cleaners in Addison did that the last time they messed up on their end and paid me the price of the shirt they ruined, but this manager was smiling in my face, with no sympathy at all, saying there's nothing he can do. He even said that it should have been brought up that this shirt can't be professionally taken care of! The shirt is from Express! And it can be professionally taken care of, you just need to remove the tags before you take care of it! NO MATTER WHAT shirt you bring in, if you don't take the collar tags out, the same thing is going to happen EVEN if the shirt LITERALLY says it can be professionally taken care of! I understand that mistakes happen, but the least you can do is make up for it with the price of the shirt and not smile in my face. All in all, if you are looking for a dry cleaner to use in the long run, or even the short run, don't come here because you'll waste your precious time to only find out from a shallow manager that they can't makeup for a mistake on their end. read more

I recently had my bridesmaid dress altered and pressed at Velare. The people that helped me were friendly and professional. My dress was scheduled for pickup on Thursday, but I called on Tuesday and they were able to complete it early for Wednesday pickup. I tried it on at the store and it perfectly!!
