Thank you, Oak Brook Cleaners, for saving my procrastinating butt. I had been putting in a lot of…read morehours at work in the weeks leading up to my best friend's wedding, so I had zero time to get my bridesmaid dress altered. It was Monday the week of the wedding, so I gave these guys a call and told them I needed a bridesmaid dress altered and asked how long it takes. The guy said about a week or two, but then asked when I needed it by. I told him I needed it Friday and he said to bring it in and he'll take a look. So I hauled on over, tried on the dress, and the guy was putting pins and stuff to see how much needed to be taken off. It was a thin dress, so I figured it wouldn't be too hard, but apparently it had a lot of layers which makes things more difficult. Again, he asked when I needed it and I said by Friday, if possible. He said he could do it! I was so relieved, but also nervous, as I did not specify that I actually needed it early afternoon, since I had to drive up to Milwaukee for the wedding. However, come Friday around noon, I dropped by, fingers crossed, and voila! It was ready! I was so incredibly thankful they were able to do it on such short notice and it looked great. I don't have a lot of needs for a dry cleaner or alterations but next time I do, I'm coming back here.

We hadn't gotten around to doing it but once we found them again, we decided we should just bite the bullet and go get them altered. I'm really glad I did and especially happy I found Golden Cleaners. The husband and wife owners, Sue and Mr. Kim, are INCREDIBLY nice, helpful, and experienced. They were able to take care of the alterations really quickly and I was happy with the price as well. I had been a little bit skeptical of giving them my business at first because of the 3-star review but when I saw that it was only 4 reviews and 2 of them were old and from the time before this new family took over, I felt comfortable enough giving them a try. They definitely came through and now I'm happy to have found a solid destination for my alteration needs. Next time: dry cleaning!!

I dropped off a 2-piece Banana Republic suit, a shirt, and an additional pair of Express pants. However, the pants to my Banana Republic suit were never returned to me. Instead of helping, the owner claimed I must have left them at home. When I asked her to please check if they were hanging somewhere--even specifying they were Banana Republic size 32/30--she didn't even bother to look. This was a brand-new suit that had only been worn once. This is absolutely not how you treat long-time customers. Her ignorance and total lack of care left me incredibly upset and frustrated. I never expected this from a business I trusted for three decades.

However -- a big problem: We wash our clothes scent-free due to a family member's asthma and allergies. Put in a load of laundry, used our own unscented Tide Free & Gentle liquid detergent, and the load came out strongly scented. I don't know if this is due to a previous person's load leaving scented residue, or if the establishment "freshens" the washers with something scented. We use this laundromat for heavy loads, or if we have a problem with our home machine. Unfortunately, we won't be able to patronize this location again due to the residual fragrance left in our laundry. It will take weeks or re-washing and hanging outside to try to remove it. Prior to the new ownership, we never had this issue.
