Had focus problems with camera on brand-new phone, unable to fix after a week of trying and calling Verizon tech service. Tech service referred me here, a local option since the store where I got my phone was hours away-- it was promising, I pulled up and a woman opened the door and held it, waiting for me to come in so she could help me. That was where the help ended. She was polite, but when I explained the issue, she was unable to figure it out and seemed unfamiliar with the phone, actually making it worse when the white balance blew out the picture entirely and wouldn't dial down. She then immediately tried to recommend her phone, the Google Pixel, as a much better option. The Verizon tech I previously called on the phone had offered to replace mine on the chance that it was a glitchy phone, but I wanted to check another phone of the same model first to avoid replacing something with the same problem. When I mentioned this to the woman, she said that they didn't have any of the same model phones in the massive store, they'd 'sent them all back'. Huh? Why? She kept asking me for my phone receipt, a notice for which had been emailed to me and was on file in my online Verizon account. I show her this and hand her the phone after logging in and pulling up the list of receipts. She apparently can't understand that they are receipts and holds the phone and does nothing, asking me again for a receipt. So I hit the back button to the email, and then hold up the phone and in front of her touch the link n the email that says GO TO MY RECEIPTS. The same list comes up again, she still does nothing, so I select the first one which is a pdf invoice with all the details. Huh?? Why was that so confusing?? She then points out that the store listed isn't an official retailer, which is when I start to go ballistic. I had specifically picked the store where I got my phone because it was listed as an official store, after having issues in the past with private stores that simply carry Verizon. Now there are 3 sales reps suddenly standing in front of me, she's roped in 2 more, all of them keep telling me it is not an official location and stating, "There must have been a name under the Verizon sign outside". There wasn't, it looked exactly like this store in every way and I had picked it as an official retailer. If there had been, I would have gone somewhere else, I actually looked to make sure when I went. They then continue arguing with me about this, they don't believe me, and tell me I have to go back to that store.. which is 2 hours away. Politely, but arguing. I then get really angry and say, so my only option is to somehow make it back there right now before my 2 week window expires or buy a new phone? Yes, I am told, for another $600+ dollars. They then actually stand there staring at me, in silence, all three of them, for a good 15 seconds, apparently expecting me to say okay that sounds great or magically come up with a solution on my own. ???? What kind of customer service is that? I'm so angry, I just walk out. Guess what? I immediately call the original store, fuming, the guy sorts it out in 10 minutes-- finds me a local store, works out some decent options for worst-case scenario as a courtesy and calls ahead to brief them. I calm down, thank him, and the Wellsville store on Bolivar fixes the camera problem within 5 minutes of me walking in and then also transfers the remaining thousands of work texts to the new phone after a previous cloud transfer had failed. And guess what? Both are actually official Verizon retailers. This Olean store is an utter joke. Not only do they not know how to use or fix phones, they don't even know which stores are official Verizon retailers and can't handle any customer service situation or even people. One star for holding the door for me and trying to take care of me right away, that was appreciated, the rest was completely ridiculous. read more
