I had a great experience here. I ordered a Verizon gateway over the phone for pickup at this location. The store was busy but I was helped right away. The employee was tired but eager. He was frequently interrupted by other customers but luckily I was in and out within 10 minutes. The interaction was positive. I've come here for three new phones over the years. The service is meh. Two weeks ago I bought a phone and they let me take my old phone home to make sure everything transferred over. Great, it did. Now I'm back here waiting in line to turn this old phone back in. I wish I hadn't double checked. It's all there, best I can tell. Who knows how long this is going to take to just turn this thing in-it's already been 15 minutes and no sign of anyone at the three separate tables with associates making any progress. Update: it took them 30 minutes to get to me only to make me change my apple password because I didn't know it off the top of my head. Seriously. Customers beware! I am 80 years old and just received a new phone from Verizon. I wanted to "transfer" all of my data from my old phone to my new phone. I visited the location at 13340 NEW HAMPSHIRE AVENUE. I asked the Verizon individual if he could help me transfer the data. He said "Yes". He then proceeded to terminate my old phone and activation my new phone. After disconnecting my old phone, he TOLD ME that it would cost me $40 to transfer the data. If he would have stated this cost in the beginning I wouldn't be left holding two phones which are not operating the way they should. What a lack of customer service for Senior Citizens. read more

I had another good experience at this Verizon retailer, mainly thanks to Terrell H. My old, and I mean old, phone was giving me problems, so we stopped in to see if it might be an easy fix. Terrell tried a few things with no luck and I finally said I should just replace it. I told him what I used my phone for and he immediately picked out a replacement for my old phone. It looked fine to me, had the features I wanted and was a reasonable price. And it turned out it was on a special and ended up costing me about half the original price! One reason I hesitated to replace my old phone was because last time I updated it took so long to transfer data to the newer model. This time the transfer went really quickly and I didn't lose any thing in the process. A much easier experience than I had expected. read more

One of the better Verizon stores around. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Usually very short wait times if any.

Rude employee, attitude towards the elderly, and unclear information. The door of the business says they are open until 7, but online said 6 so we got there at 5:30. Both salespeople were busy with customers so we patiently waited. They began to close up around us but did not tell us to leave. The female employee with the nose ring is spending much more time talking about her personal life and bartending stories to the customer instead of just efficiently completing the transaction. We begin to get help from the male employee, and he gives us the wrong prices for a promotion, and we agree to it. He gets the other salesperson to come set us up, and she explains the real prices which are much higher than the male employee described. She became frustrated with my elderly mother for not being able to read small print. My mother was naturally confused and told the employee "I don't feel comfortable about this transaction since I'm being given mixed signals." This woman then tells my mother "to be perfectly honest with you ma'am I'm tired and we're closed" in a condescending tone. We explained that we had arrived well before closing time, and were ready to make a quick transaction until we were given the WRONG PRICES. Lady then tells us "you should've made an appointment" and rolls her eyes. There is absolutely no indication anywhere on the website or storefront that they prefer you make an appointment, so there was no need for her to be rude, especially to an elderly woman who struggles with the internet and all that. I don't know who these two employees were yesterday, but they were both completely unprofessional and have really tarnished our view of verizon. The man did not know anything about the promotions or phone plans he is supposed to be selling, and the woman spent half an hour chatting up a customer instead of making a sale, and proceeded to be uneccessarily rude. read more

Called Cellular Sales the day before to make sure they had the phones in stock that I was looking for. They did. Everyone was super helpful, polite and knowledgeable. They helped us transfer over a number from At&T and quickly get everything backed up from our old phones. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I bought a new phone there yesterday. When I was sitting with the sales rep, he had my new phone and put down a new charger cord, car charger and screen protector next to it. He didn't tell me the price of any of them and started to apply the screen protector to my phone. I happened to pick up the box and see it was $49.99! Each cord was $34.99. I thought-well he's a nice guy and I am sure he gets a commission, so whatever . . . Yes I signed all the documents, etc. agreeing to the $50 restocking fee and yes I paid for all the accessories. That would have been the end of it, except when I searched for the accessories on Amazon, I found I could buy them all for around $30; at this Verizon store I paid $120. This would have been the end of it, but there were some serious problems with my Google Pixel 3 phone-namely it doesn't have "native email" which my IT department informed me was a problem. I basically could not get the phone to accept my work credentials to access my company portal for email, wireless, etc. So today I took it back. The whole screen protector thing was also bothering me because I felt the way the sales rep applied it without asking me first was unethical. So when I went in I told them i wanted to: 1) return the phone and 2) get a Samsung (which would have cost me an additional $300). Point is, I would have been giving them more money at the end of this second visit. However, things went South quickly. The sales rep, for some reason, had to call the original sales rep (Chris) who had sold me the phone and proceeded to hand the phone to me. He wanted to know what the problem was. In a nutshell, he didn't really care, told me I would have to pay the $50 restocking fee (it took them all of a minute or two to erase my data on the phone and put it back in the box) and said he couldn't talk to me anymore because he "was at work." Then he hung up on me. Yes, he hung up on me. There were no other customers in the store. At this point all the sales reps started to crowd around and challenge me on every aspect of my complaint. "Why did you agree to the charges . . " "If you don't pay the re-stocking fee you can't return the phone." One of the sales reps actually said "I know Chris and he wouldn't do that (apply the screen protector without telling me the cost beforehand)." He was essentially calling me a liar. He also said "I am so tired of people coming in here complaining." One of my favorites was "Why didn't you shop somewhere else for the accessories?" Well, as it happens, my internet access on my old phone was cut off while Chris was setting up my new phone. So technically I couldn't shop for any of the accessories while I was in the store. It was honestly the worst customer experience I have ever had. At no point did any of them say the usual customer service platitudes like "I am sorry your phone didn't work out for you" or "I understand your frustration." Hey, at the end of the day I would have probably given in on the re-stocking fee, but it was the $50 screen protector that was the final straw. Let's not forget that I WAS GOING TO BUY A NEW PHONE worth an ADDITIONAL $300. I told them this at the very beginning when I said I wanted to return the Google Pixel. They were absolutely awful. The lesson in all this: Go to a Verizon corporate store-Rockville or College Park. I called Verizon customer service when I got home and they credited back the re-stocking fee and the screen protector charge. read more

My wife and I ordered new phones from this dealer on New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland on December 1, 2021. We were told that, when the phones came in, we would be notified. Today, January 20, 2022, I found out that the phones were received by Cellular Sales before Christmas and that, because we did not pick them up within 7 days, they were sold to other customers. Well, if we had been contacted by Cellular Sales when the phones were received we would have picked them up in a timely fashion. I got a new iPhone 5 from this store and went in to get my old iPhone deactivated and the new iPhone 5 moved to my existing number. They first almost put a different number on my plan onto the phone, then they almost changed my number.......over 5 hours later they still couldn't manage to activate my phone. This is with three different people trying to activate the phone - they still couldn't figure it out. I don't feel like I'm asking a lot here, this is one of the easiest tasks an employee here could do. They are completely incompetent and seemingly don't listen to you when you talk. Literally the worst service i have ever had. When i originally purchased them, Chris, the salesman said that as long as they were unopened and returned within 14 days it would be fine. All i wanted was to return a box of unopened airpods i bought less than 3 days before and when i went in they said they couldnt because that was their policy (which has no indication on the receipt or any of the Verizon/Cellular sales sites). They were extremly unhelpful, they are just trying to make a quick sale and get you out of there. I would not trust them at all as they are either uninformed about their policies or just trying to scam you out of your money. read more

They have the worst customer service and workers there. I was with ATT and wanted to switch to them but rep said I couldn't with my iPhone 6 plus that I had to buy a brand new phone with them. After some research online that was false and I went to another store that was able to switch me. Watch out they are shady and will try to add extra fees to try to switch and upgrade versus another store only charged me 20 for activation and they told me 40 for activation fee here. The salesman was wonderful even though Verizon was not. He was very helpful and showed my husband, a first time smart phone user, all the whistles and bells on his new phone. Verizon on the other hand, has very bad customer service. They kept the Verizon Authorized Retailer and me on hold and transferred us multiple times. Abysmal service. This is not a Verizon corporate store, only an authorized retailer. When I had a problem with my Sim card on my phone, they replaced it, cautioning that the "next time" they have to replace the Sim, it would be $10.00. ...What?? But they "took care of it" this time. The next time I was dealing with an issue with a Sim card (faulty phone), I met with the manager, who was nothing short of annoying. Instead of fixing the problem with the phone, he decided to charge me $10.00 for a new Sim card. Clearly, I explained, it was no longer an issue with the Sim, but the phone itself. He gave me two options. 1) use my upgrade, or 2) submit an insurance claim, which would not result in immediately giving me a phone from their stock. In fact, he wouldn't even tell me if he had the phone in stock in his store. He refused all other options, nothing that I could buy a phone, use my upgrade or submit an insurance claim. After trying the new Sim...and it not working (shock), I rather rudely (this is an honest review!) stated that the charge better not appear on my account. The manager replied that he would "work on it." Finally, he submitted an insurance claim on my phone, and it wouldn't go through. So, he printed out the piece of paper that indicated the claim could not be processed and told me I was on my own. Sent me out the door with the piece of paper and a telephone number to call...do to it myself. I called Verizon instead. Turns out...I got a replacement phone for free, because it was a hardware issue, and I did not have to go through insurance. The Verizon customer support was horrified by my experience at this location, and the manager's refusal to even tell me about this option, which was clearly visible on his screen, according to the Verizon Customer Service number. Take it for what it is worth. I wasn't the most pleasant customer that day...but when dealing with phone issues, I'm not sure one is in the most chipper disposition. read more

My phone was broken and the people in Verizon are not aware of phones and didn't know what to do so they had to call customer service which I could of done myself. The person was so rude. I was wondering what my options were about my phone like if I would need a new one but she didn't really answer my question. Instead she went ahead and criticized me for thinking that I needed a new phone just because the one I had was broken. They finally said the fixed the problem after and hour of just sitting there. So I left and tried calling a friend but it still didn't work. I ended up having to go back because they didn't fix the problem they said they fixed. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE. Waited 7 weeks for an iPhone 6 with the promise of $200 for buying my current iPhone 4S. Employee at this store lied about the promotion details and screwed me out of getting the promotion through Verizon, my phone was sent to the wrong location, and in the end, they didn't even order the correct phone. No one here took any responsibility for the mistakes made. Went in on 09/12/2014 to order an iPhone 6 64GB and was helped by an employee named Desmond. Waited over an hour to be helped and there were only 2 people ahead of me (this store was also fully staffed with 4+ employees), so this was already a bad sign. Talked to Desmond about the $200 buyback for the iPhone 4S that Verizon advertised and he said that all I had to do was wait until my new phone arrived and the store would buy my 4S from me. He also said that the $200 would come in the form of a Verizon debt care and said it would take 2-4 weeks for the new phone to come in. On 10/12/2014 (4 weeks later from the 9/12 order), called the store to check on the status of my phone. Spoke with an employee there who at first told me that she didn't have my phone in, asked her if she could verify that the phone was preordered, she refused. I got angry and she finally relented and checked that my phone was preordered. She verified that it was an iPhone 6 64GB. On 10/22/2014 (6 weeks later from the 9/12 order), received a call from Cellular Sales on a Wednesday saying that my phone was in. I was out of town and asked them if I could pick it up that weekend and they said that was fine. Went in on Saturday of the same week to get my phone, was informed by the rep that it was sent to the Arnold, MD store (which is 2 hours away from this Silver Spring store). Was told by the rep at the store that they will have it moved over to the correct store by Monday. Additionally, I was told that the $200 buyback deal I was promised was not through the store, but through Verizon. Because the rep had never told me that, I didn't apply for it on time and was no longer able to take part in the promotion. Spoke with the store manger who not only said that there was nothing he could do about that, but also that none of his reps would ever do that... On 10/27/2014, called the Silver Spring store asking if my phone had arrived yet, was told it had not. On 10/28/2014, received another call from the Arnold, MD store telling me that my phone was available for pick-up. Told the rep at the Arnold store that it was supposed to be sent to the Silver Spring store, the rep told me he would have to call me back and never did. Called the Silver Spring store and was informed by a rep there that they do not moved the phones between stores. At this point I was pretty angry, the rep told me that someone from the Silver Spring store will bring it from Arnold to their store by 10/29/2014. And here is the icing on the cake, on 10/29/2014, got a call from the Silver Spring store saying that they have my phone. Went in to pick it up, found out that they had ordered an iPhone 6 PLUS 64GB even though the note on my account said that the iPhone 6 64GB was requested. Was told there was nothing else they can do for me except have me wait another 4 weeks for them to reorder the phone. Needless to say, I have ordered my iPhone from Apple.com and will be telling everyone I know to never do any business with this company again. read more

DO NOT TRUST SALES REP EMILY! She will try to scam you into buying higher GB by saying the phone maker does not sell lower GB. She told me iPhone 7 did not make a 32 GB phone and that I had to buy a 128 GB (which obviously cost more). She tried to put a temperate glass shield on my phone and phone case and force me to buy it without my permission. She tried to schemingly upscale me on an iPad, calling it a Verizon deal when THIS IS NOT A VERIZON STORE. She then charged me for my phone and after the transaction happened later told me there will be a $30 upgrade fee applied to my bill next month (which should have been stated BEFORE the transaction was finalized). Then when I called the store to question her about this she got extremely irate, yelling at me on the phone as if I bother her by calling her out on the scam she tried to pull. She was extremely unprofessional and should be avoided at all cost. She is willing to say anything for the commission of selling the most expensive phone and accessories. THIS IS NOT A VERIZON STORE AND THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. CONSUMERS BEWARE BEFORE GOING TO THIS STORE. First, you need to know that this is not a Verizon Wireless owned store; and MOST CRITICAL you are likely to pay MORE for your phone than you would if you purchased it directly from Verizon, or at a company-owned store. This store is actually owned by a company called Cellular Sales. Here is what happened to me. I stopped today to look at Verizon Cellphones (the store looks pretty much like any other Verizon store). I was led to believe that buying a cellphone at this location would be the same price as purchasing it from Verizon Wireless online, on the phone, or from a Verizon owned store. They quoted me a price for a phone that turned out to be $134 MORE than what Verizon Wireless sells the phone for. I found this out when I called to tell my wife what phone I had ordered, and how much we would pay each month for it. She quickly checked online and told me that this same phone appeared to be much cheaper on the Verizon website. I called Verizon and confirmed that Cellular Sales had quoted me a price 23% higher than the price Verizon told me on the phone. In addition to the base price, Cellular Sales also charged me a $35 fee that is essentially an added fee for setting the phone up, something that Verizon will do for you as part of the sale of a phone (or can be done using the Verizon cloud). This fee is simply an added cost to the phone. So, including this added fee, I was now up to a price that was 29% higher than the amount I would have paid directly to Verizon. So I called this location and asked to cancel the order. In fact, I had not taken possession of the phone yet. They did not have the phone in the store. I had paid the tax and the fee (I just mentioned), and I agreed to go to another one of their stores the next day to actually get possession of the phone. However, I when I told them that I wanted to cancel the order, they said they would cancel it but that, even though I did not actually have the phone, they would still charge me the $35 for phone setup. Full disclosure: I did sign a digital document when I was paying the fees agreeing that this fee is not refundable, so this company will tell you that this is, therefore, my problem. It probably is, legally, but it represents to me an unethical business practice, and certainly not a way to treat customers. Frankly, it is a just plain nasty thing to do. Trust me, you do not want to deal with these people!! One last thing: the sales person at this store told me that my Verizon bill will have another one time $30 fee for doing this upgrade, but she assured me that if I called Verizon, they WILL drop this charge. When I ended up talking to Verizon, the Verizon customer support person was very sympathetic about my experience. She told me that, first, the $30 fee is not typically waived; and that having someone at Cellular Sales tell me this was shocking to her. She also told me the actual price of the phone was about $5 a month cheaper (about $134 over the life of the payment period) than what Cellular Sales quoted me, and that the $35 fee I paid to Cellular Sales was NOT part of what Verizon charges its customers. She also offered to give me her email address so that, if I had any trouble transferring information from my old phone to my new one, she would assist me. She also informed me that, considering the price quoted and the claim that a call to Verizon would have a fee waived, she would report Cellular Sales to her supervisor, who, she assured me, would file a negative report about Cellular Sales for this situation. BOTTOM LINE: buyer beware about entering this store. And, if you do, be prepared to pay more for your phone, and/or endure a bad customer experience. You can be sure, I will not enter there again myself. read more

Negative stars! There are few business practices more despicable IMHO than to take advantage of the elderly. My mother in law went in to this store to get assistance with setting up her phone for a long anticipated trip to Europe. She walked out with a $100 new phone & new $30 data plan. The problem - She didn't need a new phone - they lied and told her Verizon doesn't offer phone loans for international travel. Plus, they didn't tell her she would also have a data plan for an extra $30/mo. When we contacted the store they were pompous and argumentative...so we called Verizon Wireless and got the correct information - and a complaint filed against the store. Then, when she went to return the phone and get hers back, they charged her a $35 "restock" fee. Another call to Verizon...another Verizon complaint (and credit of the charge). We came to this location since the one on Tech Rd close (which I preferred since the people there are so nice). There was probably 5 guys working and there were no other customers.
