If you are looking for a class that covers every aspect of the GMAT in depth, Veritas Prep should be at the top of your list. Yes the class is expensive but the material presented is worth every penny. It is not enough to simply know what information is covered on the GMAT. You need to know strategies for answering each different type of question and Veritas Prep will give you those strategies. Veritas has excellent material but the real difference maker for me was the instructor. The instructor in my Veritas Prep class was Eric Maltzer and he was phenomenal. The classes ran late into the evening (7pm-10pm) on Tuesdays and Thursdays but he did an excellent job presenting the material with energy and insight. Eric was well prepared for each class and made a good effort to get to know each student. I had one, sit-down, one-on-one discussion with him but others in my class had two or even three of these discussions. He made himself available outside of class hours and even after the class was complete. About 4 weeks after the classes ended I emailed Eric a question about the GMAT and he responded the same day. He truly cares and wants to see each person he instructs perform well. Like I said earlier, it isn't enough to simply know the material for the GMAT you need to me mentally agile and creative in how you solve GMAT problems and that's what Eric taught us. Veritas is good at explaining a section then giving the class a couple of problems to solve. These problems allow students to apply new knowledge and ask questions. Doing a couple of problems right away helped the information sink in more for me. My starting score on 25 May was 580 (38Q, 29V, determined through a Veritas GMAT exam). Immediately after the class finished my score was 600 and I had done almost no studying beyond sitting through class. I know a 20-point jump isn't much but my verbal (weakest part of the test for me) went from a 29 to a 35 simply by sitting through class. Three days before I took the GMAT, I took my final practice test (again through a Veritas GMAT exam) and scored a 670 (40Q and 40V). I knew a score that high would get me into the program I wanted so I was completely relaxed going into the exam. I took the GMAT exam on 26 July and scored a 680 (46Q and 37V). I scored a 4.5 on the analytical writing. To Veritas's credit they had excellent material on analytical writing and Eric gave an exceptional 90 minute class on writing. I simply chose not to focus my efforts on the writing portion and it showed. I received a 6 on the integrated reasoning section. Veritas had good material on the integrated reasoning section and Eric had taken a GMAT exam with the integrated reasoning about two weeks before the class ended so he had a lot of insight on that section. I felt my time was better spent focusing on the quantitative and verbal sections so that's what I did. Overall my total score improved by 100 points from my first practice exam to the actual GMAT. Simply put, the results speak for themselves. On 15 August 2012 I received my acceptance letter from the University of Michigan. That was my ultimate goal and I truly believe Veritas Prep and specifically, Eric Maltzer were a big part of me being accepted. I am now enrolled and starting classes on 5 September. I'm generally skeptical of yelp reviews with five star ratings. I also never take the time to write reviews. It takes a really superb experience with a business to impel me to do so. Veritas is one of those rare companies who not only provides service of qualitative excellence, but also goes above and beyond to generate the ultimate customer experience. I took a 6 week GMAT course with Anthony Ritz and was so impressed by the professionalism of Veritas instructors. Anthony is one of those super-humans, who received perfect scores on every standardized test from the LSAT to the GMAT to the GRE. My past experience with SAT tutors was to stay away from the wiz kids because they didn't know how to teach/translate their genius, but Anthony does. His lessons were content rich, but contained added bonuses like calculation shortcuts and tricks to approaching problems. Anthony edited many of the Veritas books, so his familiarity with them is impressive. He knows exactly which problems are most challenging so he cherry picks the best examples to work through in class. You never feel like your time is being wasted. The Veritas books are best-in-class for GMAT prep. There's a logical division of sections (foundation, lessons in approach, homework set) and the content coverage is extremely thorough. My main frustration with most prep books is the undersupply of detail; I used to be thrown off by exam questions that take a concept and add a twist, or layer arithmetic, behind algebra, behind geometry. Often these books give basic formulas/rules for geometry and a bunch of problems to practice, but Veritas books add in-depth explanations on how to tackle challenging problems using formulas/rules. What's more, everything is written in layman terms, so explanations are clear, copy is great, and they even have a sense of humor - you'll find puns and contemporary culture references sprinkled throughout (big fan of the Tupac, Talib Kweli, and Bob Dylan sentence correction questions!) The most unique tool I sharpened with Veritas was a flexibility in mathematical approach. I've always claimed to be bad at math and got very anxious when problems weren't straightforward. My usual approach was, "attack blindly and hope for the best." Learning number properties, conceptual thinking, strategic number picking/back solving, and algebraic manipulation blew my mind. I kept thinking, "if only I were taught math like this growing up!" I so value these new critical thinking tools because I know they'll help me way beyond the GMAT. In a matter of months, Veritas supplied the most valuable math education I'd ever received. A final thing to plug is the out-of-this world customer service. Veritas is incredibly customer centric and take student feedback extremely seriously. Anthony says they're constantly changing things and adding features based on feedback, which is nice to know your voice is heard. Anecdotally, I lost my Geometry book a few weeks before the exam and they express mailed me a new one for free (probably a $50 book). Veritas truly bends over backwards for their students. If you can't tell, I think Veritas is in a league of its own when it comes to GMAT prep. read more

After months of personalized instruction with numerous tutors at Manhattan Prep, I was so fortunate to find Veritas and, more specifically, Anthony Ritz. I had sat for the official GMAT exam numerous times at this point, and I regrettably began to believe the narrative I told myself: "you are never going to achieve the score you need to attend the school of your dreams." In our first conversation, I recognized immediately that Anthony was unlike any tutor I had met before- and for all the right reasons. First, he listened. Together, we crafted a personalized plan that was finally going to put me on the right path when it came to preparing for this exam. Second, he was efficient and direct. Anthony immediately would call out the mindsets and behaviors of mine that needed to change if I ever wanted to see a 700+ score, and then he would draw upon lessons from his own personal and professional journey to drive those concepts home for me. Third, and perhaps most importantly, Anthony helped me view the GMAT as beatable. Veritas is by far the best investment one can make if considering a prep course for the GMAT or LSAT. They begin by teaching you about the true purpose of the exam and how they use both quantitative and qualitative to test these abilities. In essence, they begin the course by explaining to you why the hell the GRE and GMAT use high school level problems to test your post-graduate ability. Once they explain this in their foundational lesson, the rest of the exam makes much more sense. My instructor, Anthony Ritz, was fantastic in not only explaining problems but in constantly reminding you about the foundations of the exam, which brings so much clarity in times of extreme confusion! He is always open to ANY questions and will make sure you understand the material before the class moves on. I even did a few private tutoring sessions with Anthony and he really helped pinpoint my weaknesses in the exam. After a significant amount of work and targeting these weaknesses I have improved in my abilities. Additionally, Veritas' online instructors (like Brian) are really helpful during the online videos. I missed a class and had to do the online course which I was hesitant to do because I need a person there teaching me the material. I was pleasantly surprised by the online videos which kept me engaged the whole time during the course. I was a bit concerned about the price at first but it is really worth the money. I previously did a $500 GRE course based off of the Manhattan Prep and after I was done with it I scored the same on my GRE as the day I took it hungover my senior year in college. SO whatever package you get from Veritas is well worth your money. Not only do you get the books, the great teachers and the online sources, but also additional resources such as MBA counseling (another really helpful feature). You will not regret using Veritas and I guarantee a great experience. read more

I am not a good test taker. I tend to second guess myself and have issues with time management. I've taken the GMAT twice. The first take was after about a month of self-study. I did reasonably well, but came up shy of my target score primarily due to deficiencies on the Quant and IR sections. I decided to retake the test and, after some deliberation, find a prep course to help shore up my shortcomings. A close friend recommended Veritas and I can confidently say that I doubt there's a better GMAT prep course on the market. Anthony Ritz, the Washington D.C. based instructor, set clear expectations and guidelines on the first day and then marched the class through the different GMAT modules with the expert touch of someone who knows the GMAT inside and out. The six weeks of formal class time were crucial for full understanding of key concepts, but Veritas makes it clear that the real work is completed outside of class. The online problem sets, quizzes, and adaptive practice tests helped me show up to the exam on test day knowing that nothing would surprise me. It's a lot of work, but with the curriculum that Veritas put together and the pace at which Anthony introduces material, it pays off. I was especially pleased with how passionate Anthony was about his student's success. He provided personal contact information and made himself available before, after, and outside of class for questions or additional materials. He turned a potentially boring class and subject matter into an engaging course that demystified the GMAT for me. I ended up taking the exam shortly after completing the course and saw a significant Quant improvement and increase to my overall score, scoring higher than my initial target. If you're looking for a prep course and are willing to put in the extra work outside of class (and there is a lot of it), I cannot recommend Veritas and Anthony Ritz enough. read more

This past summer, I attempted to study for the GMAT on my own but, quickly realized it was a monumental task and became quite overwhelmed. The absolute volume of material one has to understand to succeed on the exam is intimidating. I signed up with Veritas because all the instructors scored in the 99th percentile on the GMAT and the company focuses on hiring instructors that understand how to teach the subject matter. Check out the website, you can view little profiles about the instructors and where they received their MBA. My instructor was fantastic. He would create extra examples to explain difficult topics and stay after class (class ended at 10pm) to review extra problems. He was also very knowledgeable about test taking strategy and how the GMAT is scored. The GMAT is an adaptive test and time goes very quickly so you need to know some test strategy. Veritas has GMAT instructors you can call at different times throughout the week. You can review specific Veritas book questions or general topics. The helpline was an amazing resource and I attribute a lot of my success to those patient instructors. I would call 2-3 times a day with different questions and they could always help, which is not easy to do over the phone. The Veritas book materials are very well organized. They cover all the possible GMAT topics. More importantly, the book questions are quite similar to actual GMAT questions. By working through the books and learning the methods you will be very well-prepared for any question the exam throws at you My first GMAT practice test I scored a 480. On the actual exam, I scored a 710, 92 percentile. 49 quantitative and 39 verbal, both scores are the 87 percentile. Also, I got a 5.5 AWA. Veritas was worth every penny, thank you!!!! read more

I enrolled in Veritas Prep's live class taught by Anthony Ritz. I chose Veritas for a number of reasons, including the robust structure of the program and the fact that the live courses are taught by instructors that scored in the 99th percentile or higher. The way the class is set up is very conducive to learning and cementing the concepts you need for success on the GMAT - you do prep work independently prior to class to shore up and refresh/rebuild foundational skills, have the live class, then do practice questions (and you have access to several practice tests as well). I chose to enroll in Anthony's class as I was impressed by his reviews and his extremely high (perfect or near perfect) test scores across all sorts of exams, and also heard firsthand from Veritas folks who had met him about how much he cared about his students. I am so glad I decided to take Anthony's class - he truly is a gifted teacher. And importantly, he cares and wants to see you succeed, which for me is huge. I cannot say enough good things about Anthony - he kept the entire class engaged throughout the 3-hour lessons, showing us how to think and the reasons behind both the right and wrong answers. He really, really knows his stuff and the best ways to tackle GMAT problems, and has a great sense of humor that keeps the class fun and also actually helps you remember certain concepts! I learned a ton of different strategies that apply not only to the GMAT, but particularly on the quantitative side, tools that can be used in day to day life and work! Like many others, I heard about Anthony and the Veritas course by word-of-mouth. Veritas begins its GMAT course by reviewing the fundamentals of quant and verbal sections. From then on, the program builds on these concepts as it alternates between verbal and quant lessons each week. After each lesson, there is a significant amount of homework questions to reinforce the concepts as well as a skill builder to prep you on key concepts for the next lesson. This program is intense, but intuitive. On the first day of class, I knew the in-person program was my ticket to success. There is not much differentiating Anthony's course conceptually from the Veritas videos. However, there is a myriad of reasons that Anthony's class will get your score to where you want it. For brevity, my pitch includes two. First, class is engaging and you will not dread showing up each week. One of the big value adds is that Anthony will weave in memorable stories to help ingrain key principles in his students. These moments truly helped solidify my understanding of number properties, geometric principles and statistical concepts. Second and most importantly, it is very clear that Anthony is arguably, if not officially, a genius. Yet, he is a very giving and understanding genius, who is extremely invested in each of his students. As I hit highs and lows throughout studying, Anthony always had a relevant encouraging story to guide me back on track. All this is to say he is a great coach beyond teaching GMAT concepts. I recently completed a Veritas Prep course with instructor Eric Maltzer. At first I was a bit skeptical of Eric's claim of "an average score increase of 140 pts", and have to admit I was worried halfway through the course when my score hadn't improved, however, my score has gone up 70 points upon completion of the course and I'm still 3 weeks away from test day. The course is absolutely amazing for general review and covers everything you need to know for the test as well as (perhaps more importantly) how to approach questions logically. Eric and Veritas stress not rote knowledge but creative thinking, which often saves time and eliminates the need to cram in formulas and grammatical syntax. I've found myself thinking more creatively on problems which saves time and has ultimately lead to more right answers. Eric goes above and beyond expectations as an instructor. He comes early before class to review problems with students 1-on-1 and offers to meet students outside of class prior to test date. The course is designed to give you all the tools you need to do well, but the practice and studying are up to you. Veritas provides ample study material (15 practice tests and at least one book on each topic covered on the exam). On the last day of the course Eric provides an in-depth study schedule which dictates exactly the preparation necessary in the weeks leading up test day. I am confident that I will hit my target score of 700+ come test day, thanks to Veritas and Eric Maltzer! read more

I took the in-person prep course with Anthony Ritz, so I cannot speak to the online course or any other tutor. I decided to do the in-person course because this specific tutor came recommended to me by friends, and I felt like the in-person would force me to be more engaged. While searching around for the best course to take on the internet, Veritas was one of the more expensive courses I found. However (indicator word), I cannot imagine a more effective course out there. The class was 2 days a week for 3 hours each day (for a total of 6 weeks) and came with 12 books (one for each class). Anthony knows the GMAT inside and out and teaches it exceptionally well. He is quirky but extremely entertaining and self-aware. He constantly made me laugh but never veered off topic. He was NEVER boring, which is impressive considering pretty much every class - grade school through college - I ever took, there were plenty of times where my mind went elsewhere. If you know you are going to take the GMAT, you HAVE to take a prep course. Don't even try to take without doing a course. I don't care how smart you are, the test is all about tricks. And you have to know the tricks to use. And if you're going to take the GMAT and spend the money on the course, in my opinion, it really makes sense to go for the best (even if it is a little more expensive), or else you are wasting your money. I just finished up the Advanced GMAT Class with Anthony Ritz. I can honestly say this is BEYOND worth it for the money. Not only do you get access to several practice CATs (which, in my opinion, are very indicative of the real exam), you get a tutoring session with an expert who can take complex ideas and processes and simplify them so anyone can understand. On top of that, I get a free retake of a class. And if it gives you any idea of how much I liked his teaching style, I will be using my retake to join Anthony Ritz' normal class. And just to reiterate, Anthony does an absolutely amazing job with his courses. As I stated I was in his Advanced class which runs much faster and there is less time to focus on fundamentals (which you should already have before taking it). But Anthony still took the time, no matter who asked the question, to address ANY point you didn't understand. On top of that he is extremely responsive to both email and text which I have just not seen elsewhere. If you're looking for a GMAT teacher that is one of the most intelligent humans around, yet can distill his knowledge down into methods that are easy to learn and EFFECTIVE all while having a fun time in their class? Look no further than Anthony Ritz at Veritas. I would say "if I could go back, I would do it all over again"... But seeing as how my next class with Anthony starts again tomorrow, I guess I don't need to! read more

I VERY highly recommend Veritas Prep GMAT preparation. I decided to pursue business school relatively late in the game for the 2021 admissions cycle, and signed up for the 6-week online instructor-led course taught by the incredible Anthony Ritz, with less than 3 months from my first ever GMAT practice test to the official exam day. The passion for teaching that Anthony brought to this course, combined with the absolute mastery of the material he has gained from 10+ years of dedicated tutoring was unparalleled from day one. He did an amazing job of not only teaching the material, but also ensuring that the entire class was getting effectively taught. He frequently checked in to ensure nobody was struggling or not comprehending the material, all while keeping the class moving at a good pace. Also, the Veritas online platform was extremely useful, with 6 full practice tests offered, and thousands of practice questions. Using the tools and training from the Veritas class, I managed to score a 770 (Q50, V47) on the GMAT, more than a 100 point increase from my first practice test. I signed up for the course based off a co-workers recommendation that Veritas was the best. I must say that i was not disappointed. The course was not cheap but for what you get I think it was very reasonable, the online resources, books and 6 hours of live instruction a week is a lot of material. The combination of the material and instructor (Anthony) was what made this such a helpful course. By the end of the six weeks, you will know the fundamentals of the test makers logic and why the test is setup like it is. Anthony did a great job of keeping things focused on the true concepts that need to be understood and taught us how to leverage what we know. This is not a list of "tricks" or equations to memorized - this course gets to the core of the test and that makes the difference. I studied on my own first and after months my practice test was up 30 points. The two months with Veritas I was up another 60 points on the practice tests so it clearly works. My official score was only 10 points below my last two practices so I think you can be confident that if you are getting scores through Veritas neat your goal then you are ready to take the exam. read more

Highly recommend! Anthony Ritz taught my class and I went up 60 points from my first official take with the help of the course as well as private tutoring from Anthony. Not only is Anthony probably the most intelligent and well versed in the GMAT instructor possible, but he truly cares about helping his students, and also makes the class entertaining and enjoyable on top of it. He is as invested in your success as you are, and was always available to answer any questions during or outside of class. He taught to all levels of students in the class and really cared to ensure everyone understood everything while somehow not slowing down the class for others who were moving at a faster pace. I was very happy with Veritas's feature of allowing access to all online materials (quizzes, practice tests etc) for up to a year after completion of the course, as well as offering a free complete retake of the course, which I did and found very helpful. I took Anthony Ritz' online GMAT class with Veritas and am extremely glad I did so. I took the GMAT after self-studying in March and got a 640. After taking Anthony's class, I scored a 730 (well above my goal of at least 700). I pretty much just followed the course requirements (attending the sessions and completing all of the pre-work and homework) and by the end of the course I was consistently scoring 740s on my practice exams. What more can you ask for! To me, the GMAT is all about knowing the tricks and strategies to take the test the right way. After making sure we had a strong foundation in each of the subjects the test covered, Anthony provided these advanced strategies that are crucial to scoring 700+ and make the test a lot easier to take. I had been studying for the GMAT for almost 6 month before I took Anthony Ritz's Advanced GMAT class through VeritasPrep. The highest official test score I had received was a 640 and the highest practice test score was a 650. I was struggling breaking down the advanced questions and consistently performing at a high level. After taking this class a received a 730, a score way higher than I was aiming and a score that I never thought would be possible. Anthony's class was everything I needed and I would not have been able to achieve this without him. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met and the methods he taught to break down questions helped immensely. He was always available and had plenty of extra homework for you if you needed it. Before taking the Veritas Prep course with Eric, I was unsure if it was even worth taking a course. I thought that if I put in time through self-study, my score would increase enough. Luckily, I opted for the course and learned a lot more than simple facts and formulas that can be found in any prep book. Eric taught me the requisite soft skills necessary to beat the GMAT. The test isn't about memorizing question types or mathematical equations. It's a test of mental poise and agility. Eric repeatedly emphasized what he called "the fundamentals" and assured me in one-on-one sessions that if I mastered those core concepts and stayed focused, that I could get a great score. My score went up 60 points in the 9 week period from the first lesson until test day. Now, my score is competitive at all business schools, instead of just most business schools. Anthony Ritz is an amazing GMAT professor. He is able to effectively communicate the core competencies and strategies required to handle all problem styles. More importantly, he made studying for the GMAT and classroom discussion actually fun. Even though my greatest hurdle in preparing for the GMAT was mental (i.e. dealing with stress), he never looked down on me or frowned upon my performance. I scheduled roughly 6-8 hours of outside tutoring time with Anthony to improve my verbal score, particularly focusing on sentence correction. Veritas Private tutoring is fairly expensive, so Anthony made sure every minute of private tutoring was used to the student's benefit. Studying for the GMAT is stressful, but I am forever thankful that Anthony was there for even when I wanted to give up on myself. For these reasons and many more, I highly recommend anyone seriously interested in excelling on the GMAT to sign up for Anthony's class. 140 point improvement. read more

Took a GMAT class with Anthony Ritz. The guy is one of the smartest people you will ever meet but does an incredible job breaking down topics so that mere mortals can understand even the most complex topics. He showed incredible empathy for his students and their struggles, even when we didn't do the pre-class assignments. He laughed at every stupid joke I would spam the class's chat with, and did a really good job calling out good work when he saw it from people either in the form of right answers or good insights from students. Personally, I was very worried about the format --3 hour classes twice per week. However, Anthony kept the classes engaging for the entire time--even when we were going over very difficult concepts. There were 12 classes. I left every single one excited at everything I had learned and despite the length, left every class wishing we could have learned even more. read more
