I got to say I had a way better experience last time I came here but this time it was incredibly transparent believe the quality of service I got for $450. The end of it I'm walking away with a dog that is still sick, no diagnosis and no medication to even help his discomfort. I asked if he could have some thing to help him sleep because he has both eyes of ulcers in them, and the only medication they had to prescribe to help him was one that I have seen him have no in restless leg but restless body with.I am incredibly let down since this place is supposed to be the best in town, where do you go after you have had the kind of service I just did and I had to borrow money to get that service. Where else because at this point I would've been better with web MD and my own opinion. And not being in debt. So would happy. Because he has literally been poked and prodded for no reason, he has to go back to another vet to get a diagnosis of actual validity, And he's gonna have no medication from this office to sleep tonight luckily I know which one of my medications will work for him as far as sedation goes. 2 thumbs down Guy's , I'll be looking for another place tonight to take him in an emergency situation and putting that number in my book of relevent vets in Houston. read more

Unfortunately I had to use Vergi 24/7 a few days ago. Having an injured or sick pet is no good for anyone. It's very high stress for the animal parent and animal that's hurt. They were the only location in Houston without a 3-4 hr wait time. The staff took care of my puppy like they would've taken care of their own. I just wish they would've had a surgeon on call that could've fixed my dogs broken bone but we found a clinic that was just as amazing as they were. Hopefully I never have to use an ER again but if I do I know exactly where I'm going! Thank y'all! read more

Let me start off by saying. Please please do not take your pets here. They are not safe in the care of these people. My father and i have lived right down the street from this facility for the past 10 years. We have taken multiple pets here over multiple occasions over the past 10 years. My father took two cats in the beginning of this year on separate occasions. Both cats were former strays that we had rescued. Both were completely submissive other than that a little fearful like most cats. One a male 3 years old came in for a gash on his neck the other a female 5-6 months with a scratch on her eye It is now the end of the year. And both cats have severe ptsd and anxiety since the second we brought both of them home from your facility on separate occasions. Both cats shake/tremble all over, cower, hide in a ball when we try to pet them. You people obviously physically beat up our cats for them to be afraid of us to pet them still now 6-10 months later. You people are horrible and should be ashamed of yourselves. We honestly should sue you for the harm you have caused our animals. To top that all off my husband and i took our cat their for something minor. We waited in your waiting room for an hour and a half. And your secretary refused to give us an estimated wait time the entire time we were their. I asked her multiple times. And she told me to leave her alone because she was busy. When the entire time she was sitting laughing and talking to the girl next her. Their were multiple other people waiting with us. Finally my husband starting calling other ERs. And their was one with no wait time. We went up to the desk to tell the receptionist we wanted to leave. She told us Well what place did you call because i guarantee you their wait time is as long. Instead of giving us our cat.. The receptionist was a caucasian women with short blond hair. Please never take your pets here. Their staff is obviously a bunch of miserable people that hate their jobs and hate animals. They are physically abusing your animals. Your animals are not safe here. My dog got into a car accident and we brought him here. We weren't told about how dire his situation was or the details about his injury. They sent us home and then told us he died and they were doing CPR. They couldve told us to spend out last minuted with him or told us he wouldn't make it. They all seemed apathetic about everything, never going here again if any other emergency comes up with our dogs. read more

This is an emergency vet clinic. I would say if you have a choice don't go. I took my senior dog for diarrhea and loss of appetite X 4 days and they treated her for vomiting. Charged a great deal for labs and injections for so something she did not have. Don't walk RUN. Find another option. read more

I haven't actually been to the vet. But I was really anxious and nervous about my dog even though he wasn't dying or anything. I called at 12:20am and they were really nice and patient with my problems even though it was probably nothing compared to other patients with more severe problems. They gave me realistic answers with things I could do in the meantime before my regular vet opened up. I understand staff aren't allowed to diagnose or give any information that could be used against them later but I was really tired of everybody saying "sorry we can't help you unless we see you." Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this vet to my very worse enemy. They will have you thinking something major is wrong with your dog and that they are about to die, when in reality they have a minor infection. They did blood work and it came back that my dog was literally at the point of dying, come to find out all of her blood work is normal besides her white blood cells. They will try to charge $600 for a $150 ultrasound and they are unprofessional and rude. They only care about your money and they will ask for payment right up front before doing anything. They asked us for $700 right up front and couldn't even tell us what they were going to do for our pet. They also made us pay for 3 types of medicines that they didn't even have and had to go pick up. Unbelievable and tired of these scam veterinarian clinics. Very frustrating and I wish I never spent a dime with them read more

We are very thankful for the care VERGI 24/7 provided for our little kitten ("Spike the Wondercat") over the past few days. They made a very difficult time, with heartbreaking decisions, much easier to bear. And, they did so with unmatched kindness. It was more than I could have ever expected from an emergency and critical care team. They reacted to the emergent situations quickly, while still taking time to put real thought into the continued challenges he steadily presented with. The facility is clean with amazing equipment; the space in the waiting areas and treatment rooms allow for movement when you are worried and stressed; the staff and doctors are extremely compassionate, knowledgeable, and really want the best for your pet. They will also keep you updated as changes occur. I was especially thankful of the very soft blanket they wrapped our little guy in, when it was time for him to leave this earth. I was able to hold him in my arms, and he was surrounded by his family in love and softness as we helped him move quietly to a place of no more suffering. "Now little Spike has gone where the good kitties go, and no more on this earth will he roam. Amazing staff! Vergi has become the most reliable hospital for my four fur babies. The staff is so considerate and accommodating. Recently, my 6 year old corgi was diagnosed with cancer in her spleen and they explained all of our viable options and we sadly had to put her down. The staff was extremely understanding of the emotional distress and was not pushing us out to get the next customer in. We were given clear details on how the procedure worked and It was emphasized that the we take as long as we might need to say our goodbye's. I took my 1 year old kitten/cat to VERGI and received excellent care from the staff. They were prompt at assessing my feline baby and when she was discharged even emailed the file to my regular vet and I got a follow up call from my regular vet the very next day asking how my little one was doing. No calling up and explaining anything. Everyone was in the loop and notified. Very professional vet staff and efficient front desk. Billing was clear and concise and they even offer a credit card for those in need of emergency credit on the spot. They never close. When you visit your pet during their hospital stay, they have private rooms for cuddle sessions and never rush you. Super staff. Great parking. read more

I think I am aware where I spent my $900 at! At that time your clinic had signs about the penalties if your dog is not picked up by 7:30-7:45 there's a $75 penalty. Your receptionist told us that it's emergency clinic and no vet will be there & we had to take our dog to a vet. The message sent to me: "Hello, I don't believe you came to VERGI on the katy fwy. There is an emergency vet clinic on Hwy 6 that changed their name to mimic ours. They are called Veterinary Emergency AND Referral Center they used to close in the mornings so you had to pick up your animal by 8am; last October they became 24/7. We are 24/7 and have been for the last 6 years. We are next to Goode Co. Bar B Que on the I-10 feeder between Campbell and Voss. I brought my 10 week old puppy to Vergi twice (Sunday and Tuesday of the same week) after she fell very ill; symptoms were extreme lethargy, dizziness, blood in stool/diarrhea, and lack of appetite. In addition, I called on two separate occasions to share my concerns with Vergi and their technicians/doctors. I was ensured during each visit, and on each phone call that my puppy was completely fine. Two days later (Thursday) she died. Vergi prescribed Metrizondale to our 1.1 lb 10 week old puppy. I have read that metrizondale should not be prescribed for young puppies. In addition, a parvo test was done on the first visit (Sunday) which came back negative, however the doctor cautioned us that the result could be a false negative and that within 36 hours it could test positive. We mentioned this to the doctor we saw on the second visit (Tuesday) and he did not perform another test and kept reassuring us she was fine although ALL of her symptoms had worsened, and insisted that we continue the metrizondale prescription. What I believe is that she had parvo/distemper and died due to a misdiagnosis, lack of proper treatment, and due to the medication side effects which only worsened her symptoms. I reached out to Vergi requesting to understand how the misdiagnosis occurred and asked for (at the least) a refund. Vergi contacted me almost a week later to notify me that they felt they had done everything they could have for our puppy and that they would not be offering any type of refund. I will not come back to Vergi and will inform friends and family of the poor service we received. read more

Came in due to my dog having a pretty bad allergic reaction. They were extremely helpful and fast to get my dog once I arrived. Since it's COVID and curbside I was informed of everything over the phone what was going on very thoroughly. Every time I called to check how he was doing they were able to give me the details I needed to know he was in good hands even sending me pictures. This place is not even describable. I literally spend over $400 dollars so they can hold my cat for seven hours. I will say the only thing they did right was give my cat his medicine. I was harassed while at work and the vet....man Yusuf (yes I didn't use doctor because she doesn't deserve the title and not sure where she got her degree) was (for lack of better words) a moron. She could not speak to me in general terms had terrible bed side manner and is a sorry excuse for a doctor. Don't worry I will be writing letters posting reviews and letting everyone I know that this place is a sh/¥ show of a place. I'm running on zero hours of sleep because I had to rescue grey and come to gulf coast veterinary specialist because those ding dongs could not follow my doctors instructions. I'm sleepy so I will post a better terrible review later. I have to wait here until my vet opens because he has an open wound thanks vergi for reminding my why I really don't like people. I have been to vergi so many times I should probably start paying them rent. I first got to know them through rescue. I brought them sick, near death dog after sick near near death dog and the dogs always came out on the other end healthy and walking. If anyone knows Cubby's story with vals pals, they'll know that we brought Cubby there as well. Then, I unfortunately had to take my own dogs there. Different levels of emergencies, different doctors, but what remained the same was their excellent care. They have a pricing system that works with your budget as well as giving you good options based on your budget. When I was buying a house I made sure I was still within great driving distance of vergi, that's how much I trust them. read more

I can't praise these guys enough. My work hours make it hard to get time off in the week, so when one of my kitties wasn't feeling well, they checked him out and got him back on track. Obviously it's more expensive than your own vet as it's a 24/7 ER, but they were so friendly and caring. Most importantly, with life in the time of "Rona" I could leave my cat with them and head home until checkout trather than spend over five hours in my car. That has definitely not been my experience with another emergency clinic I went to with a stray that needed help. The only thing that could have been better was checkout as I was waiting for what felt like an age after I paid my bill. these people are very money hungry! i took my 1 year old dog in to seek immediate help at 4am he was very pale and needed attention asap we were the only people there at 4AM they were quick to take a $300 payment for a simple test and took over an hour and a half to come tell us something and the dr that was taking care of us made us wait another 40 minutes and said another dr is going to assist y'all im clocking out mind you my dog needs literally attention I ask for an estimate so we can immediately get him on a iv as he was losing his color the only helpful person was a nice Hispanic lady she ran outside after we dropped there papers saying we'd have to pay 7k to only get one day of hospitalizatio once we finally get to the clinic she recommended they skipped a room full of people to take my dog in and get him on medication and iv fluids immediately like if we were the only people there and told us his temperature was at 106 already VERY SCARY FOR A PET OWNER while my dog was on the edge of his death these people took 2 hours to tell us to give them 7k for a one day help I recommend if you love your pet take them somewhere they'll see them immediately especially if they are very sick! read more

Jasmine, the front desk receptionist, and the vet on duty that night were so kind and welcoming. I found the cremation prices were extremely reasonable (close to the same price as my previous pup's cremation) and not at emergency prices. Would give zero stars if I could took my 8 month puppy here at 11am as soon as I had my puppy to the nurse she drops him on his neck they put me in a room to wait for the doctor. She talked to me at about 2 said that she did a ultra sound on him didn't find any liquid in his lungs or stomach that she could see said that he might need X-rays and his gums were a little pale but didn't think he needed blood work and that's they would be back with an estimate on his X-rays and whatever else he needed hours go by so I go to the front and let them know I'm still wait another half and hour they come in with a quote not to be almost 800 for medication X-rays and blood work I ask why they are doing bloodwork when the doctor herself said she didn't think he needed it and what medication they would be charging me for if they hadn't done anything to see if he required it yet I realize they are just trying to get money out of me as all the other reviews have said and decided to leave and take my puppy who has been there for over 3 hours with them doing nothing on him I go to my usual vet the next day get everything done there bloodwork to X-rays they tell me that he has something in his stomach that shouldn't be there and that I should go the the ER so that they could do a ultra sound or a scope so I'm confused because I was told by vergi that they had done an ultrasound on him my vet found no ultrasound records so I called vergi to ask to be told that they did not do an ultrasound and they did not know what I was talking about the lady on the phone would not let me speak to the doctor I had talked to and said that she didn't know when she would be back said that she would take my information for the manager was very rude and unhelpful if your going to put your dog down this is the perfect place as I can see from most of the reviews that's the only thing they are good at. read more

Our Yorkie of almost 17 years started agonizing late at night. We decided to end her suffering. My husband called Vergi and the person who answered the phone was very compassionate. When we got there they were waiting for us, they got us in very quickly, my baby girl was almost at the end. They explained the procedure and gave us time to say our good-byes. All the staff was very caring and I have nothing bad to say based on our experience, on the contrary. Also, the service they use for cremation is top-notch. I was impressed by the level of respect and professionalism. I also received a card from Vergi a week later in the mail signed by all the staff with very heartfelt notes sending their condolences. I was in need of emergency services for my dog. I went to Gulf Coast initially and they directed me to Vergi because they were busy. When i got to Vergi, i was immediately greeted by the ladies at the front. They promptly took my dog to the back for assessment. Everything was so quick and easy. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and personable attention this place gives. Dr. Brannon was AMAZING!!! She's sweet, attentive and treated my dog as her own. I really wish she practiced somewhere in a non-emergency setting. She even called me the next day to check up on my dog. We would definitely return here. Stay away from this place. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. They play on emotions and will basically tell you your animal is dying, they will price gauge you for everything. This place is ALL about money. They get annoyed if questions are asked. They get annoyed if you decide to wait at the facility with your pet. They want to take your pet from you, put them in a back room, and have the pet owner leave. Then they will call you with horrible news and try to get you to do every charge they can think of. They were clearly annoyed we wanted to stay with our pet. We got no answers and just a huge bill. After sending us an itemized receipt they then decided to "relook" at our bill and add MORE charges that were "initially missed" by billing. Sounds very sketchy! I'm no vet, but I am an ER trauma nurse and some of the reasoning/rationale just did not make sense here and the bedside manner was just awful. They thrive on patients emotions. Vergi 24/7 is an hour drive from our home but when my pets need urgent care & my regular vet is closed, VERGI is the ONLY place I take them. This past weekend my 10-yr old golden retriever was leaking urine just a bit, with some very almost imperceptible whining. We took her to Vergi & before I could finish the one page paperwork she was taken by a vet tech to the back for exam. A short while later we were taken into a room and met with Dr Sanderson. She felt it may be a UTI & would do a urine sample, blood labs & abdominal X-ray. She was very thorough taking the medical history & was very professional & caring about Mabel, our dog. She said a radiologist was available to give the initial read of the X-ray & gave us a time frame of when everything would be done. We came back a couple hours later to have a good discussion of the results. Dr Sanderson confirmed it was a UTI and nothing showing in the X-ray (like stones or masses). We got some antibiotics & instructions how to give them to Mabel. I was impressed at the genuine concern & care Dr Sanderson gave her patient. She is a very good listener & answered all our question. I highly recommend VERGI if you need urgent care for your pets. They are a cohesive & caring team that provides excellent urgent are to the pets in the Houston area. read more

After being traumatized by a horrible experience at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists on Friday, my husband and I took our 17 year-old baby to VERGI to receive a pain injection before an emergency surgery the following day. We then took her back to VERGI after her gall bladder removal surgery to receive critical post-operative care over the weekend. While at VERGI, Wee Wee was treated with compassion and kindness. Despite all their support and care, she experienced respiratory failure after a very invasive surgery. We had to make the decision to let her go. While incredibly painful, at least we know she was taken care of by people who treated her with utter love. I will never forget the kindness of Dr. Rand and Becky, and of all the other doctors and vet techs that were with us Saturday night when she passed away. Every single person on their staff treated us with compassion, and this means more to us than I can ever possibly express. Thank you, VERGI, for taking care of my Wee Wee Girl. read more

Dec. 20, 2021, I came in at midnight with a pregnant stray that I found that afternoon on my street while walking my dog. Took her to SNAP for chip check since there was no collar. No chip. Dr. Jeffreys said she was VERY pregnant. No joke, one hour later puppy 1 was born. Three puppies came along about an hour apart (one experiencing medical emergency). I called VERGI and they instructed me to load everyone up and transport to them. Dr. Southerland gave puppies O2, and fourth pup was born there! Dr. Southerland recommended we x-ray mama to be sure no more puppies were inside. Provided me handouts on how to create a whelping box, instructions on feeding mama. Got everyone enrolled in Houston SPCA's foster program. As long as we held onto them for the full 8 weeks, they would assist with vetting, supplies, vet checks. Sadly, Jan. 31, 2022, the little girl pup was humanely euthanized due to hydrocephaly. Mama and three pups are now at Houston SPCA for spay/neuter surgery and adoption. If it hadn't been for VERGI, I don't think mama or babies stood a chance at giving birth on the streets. It was very cold that night and it broke my heart to think of this little girl (who was a puppy herself) to be alone trying to give birth to four pups on the street. We needed a neurologist and they drug their feet contacting gulf coast animal hospital, i called them directly and they took him in and put him in ICU right away. The whole team at VERGI is EXCEPTIONAL! My Miniature Pinscher was attacked by a MUCH larger dog last Saturday afternoon and she lost her right eye. As soon as I entered the VERGI Reception area with her, the staff hurriedly began apparent protocol in such a situation and gently rushed her back to the medical staff, almost before I had even finished explaining that which had occurred. I was a MESS, but at every point in the process, each staff member with whom I came into contact went out of her (all were women) way to share that which they knew about not only her actual condition, but also stories they they had encountered (personally or in a professional capacity) about like situations in which the dogs not only survived, but thrived for years and years. They were all so kind, empathetic, understanding, talented, smart and altogether awesome - I couldn't have asked for more in such a horrible situation. Thus, the medical personnel prepared for the "worst" and planned whatever procedures would be most likely necessary to both better evaluate and ultimately treat such an outcome, depending upon the severity. So, my estimate, which they assured me was a range that almost always ended up being somewhere in the middle was for approximately $2,500 to just over $3,000. Of course, as far as I was concerned, there was no option than to treat her as was necessary to repair whatever damage had been done to her - she is my family.
