This place really went above & beyond for my wonderful boy Kelly. He was laid to rest, but Vergi & the staff did everything they could to make him comfortable as well as for me. The vets treated him well & the staff was great overall. If you ever have an emergency do go here. Yes, sometimes there is a wait. Understand that when you go to any ER Triage does takes place with Animals & humans so please be kind everyone is trying to accomplish the same thing. Vergi helped diagnose Kelly. We came into Vergi, for the second time in 3 weeks because our bulldog was sick. During our initial visit, the Dr. never came in but tested for parvo - which came back negative. I voiced that my fear was that he had swallowed something; however, because it was so busy they suggested we followed up with our regular vet and if Ace had swallowed something chances are he wouldn't survive as long as he had already. Fast forward a week, the regular vet did vitals and did another fecal test - it came back he had SEVERE hookworms. which we treated him for accordingly. Ace seemed to be feeling a little better than took a turn for the worse. Once again we returned to vergi after Ace had seemed to be vomiting fecal matter. Everything I read pointed to a foreign object. Dr Flowers confirmed that a foreign object was found. But as to what it was-they gave conflicting theories. Being a single mother, but growing up in a family of 11 children, Ace was all of ours 's beloved pet. We wanted to know our options in trying to save him. We were given a quote by Dr. Flowers of 6000.00- to go straight to surgery and 4000.00 if we opted for the non- surgical route. I'm not going to say I didn't beg the Dr. To please help us. She said she's be back in a few to give us a few mins to discuss everything. Then here comes Skylar with a quote almost 9,000.00! Way more than what the dr. Quoted! Skylar spoke to us like we were slow. We were already approved for care credit and scratch pay. But we wanted to know the survival rate, and odds of him making a full recovery, and how long the Dr. anticipated for healing time. Skylar kept saying "there isn't an answer for that" and "I can't give you that answer." We asked to speak to the vet. Skylar said "the vet is busy." We then asked "could we speak to another vet?" Skylar"Nope!Dr. Flowers is now in surgery, no other vet is available" We then explained "we were told different things and you're not really telling us anything or answering us. Could we please speak to the Dr. or another Dr. Skylar- "I AM telling you what the DOC.TOR. told me" We explained "we get that;we are telling you what the dr told us!" Skylar- "you don't have the right to be rude!" Um... I guess the techs do though? We love our pet and willing to pay a substantial amount for his survival. And we get the most un compassionate tech. So we got Ace and decided to take him to a more compassionate clinic- we waited for our discharge papers and we already were charged 700.00 plus. And Skylar comes out and starts "now like I told you, Ace could possibly have an obstruction, phuemonia, pancreatitis, gastritis" first off no she did not say any of that! To make a long story short she's probably the worst tech I've ever met. Already having an issue with that tech, why send the same tech to give us our discharge papers? Y'all lost our business because of it. Had Ace had an ultrasound 3 weeks ago we could've possibly saved him- now we are facing necrosis. A week ago today we had to put our sweet Smokey to rest. He was diagnosed with lymphoma at only 3 years old and it just took him over... he lived like a king until Monday night when he took a turn for the worst. We took him to Vergi Animal Hospital around midnight to be with him in his last moments and the staff was so amazing to us! I got home from work today and checked the mail to find a card signed by all the amazing people that were there when we came in. Far from exceptional service. My baby was treated on a Sunday, by Tuesday she was lethargic and her limping had increased. Called and was told it could be a side effect of the meds and to slow down on the dosing. Friday, I called back and advised that there has been no improvement: I was told to come in at no additional charge. Upon arriving the doctor consulted me and said " I wouldn't have prescribed the original pain medicine without performing additional tests", coming in for vomiting and limping I was then provided with a $700 estimate for treatment. In addition to another exam fee of $65. Puzzled as why this wasn't completed during the initial consult. The front desk staff was amazing and tried their best to mitigate my concerns. The doc assistant along with the doctor were not helpful at all. I arrived at 9 PM, my baby wasn't seen until 1130, I was told the overall treatment wouldn't take more than 15-20 mins. I didn't leave until 3 am. Will not be returning. Please also be aware when you are told that you are paying for an estimate the staff doesn't advise you that you have to go through a refund process which is a bit of a pain point simply because you either have to fill out a form via docusign or give you CC information over the phone. I am in business myself and understand you are able to complete and authorization only to avoid having to refund customer. read more

Despite the devastating decision to put my 18 year old Pommie down, the staff was super attentive, empathetic and genuinely caring. Since I had my pet cremated, I was so pleasantly surprised at the amount of thought that the entire staff took to hand-write a sympathy card. Last night I spent 4.5 hours (1am till 5.30am) with our dog at Vergi. With Covid protocols they understandably are only offering curbside service. However the communication once they took our dog in was terrible. The vet checked our dog and then they sent two options, one for $250 and one for $1,000. But no explanation of the diagnosis and why I should choose either option. I couldn't really understand the difference as the description was mostly medical procedure terminology. The $1,000 was mostly additional tests but without hearing from the vet and understanding why it's needed, I didn't have enough information to make an informed decision. So in the end I selected the $250 option which was basically pain and nausea medication that took 4.5 hours to administer. When it involves the health of our pet I would like to talk directly with the vet and receive some opinion/advice. read more

My 9yo Terrier was vomiting, had abdominal pain, and had not eaten or drank anything for 24 hours. My concern was her comfort and hydration. Her vet was unavailable so I came here on a recommendation. Pluses- -seen quickly -labs back in 2 hours -no line -the discharge person spent more time with me than the vet Areas to improve -my dog was in pain (no pain med was offered) -dehydration was not fully taken care of (fluids were given SQ and no offering of IV fluids) -food can -one was dented so I had to ask for different one I saw Lauren M. Johnston DVM. She examined my dog, squeezed her abdomen and she winced, checked the anal gland, drew a picture of a pancreas on the white board and told me that this was possible - and that my dog was mildly dehydrated. Labs were normal so consider X-ray with my usual vet. SQ fluids and pick her up. My dog appeared very lethargic, even worse than when I brought her in. I thought it was from the anti nausea injection. I was wrong. The next morning I took my dog to her usual vet who I could tell was surprised that mine was not offered IV fluids!!! She was quickly given IV fluids from 0800-530pm, pain med, antacid injection, additional anti nausea injection. When she left the vet, she was fully hydrated, she was happy and walking, and her tail was wagging. Now my dog is back to baseline! The Vergi team did not do what I asked of them - help my dog feel comfortable (no pain med given) and did not take care of my dogs moderate to severe dehydration. I am very disappointed in them. I paid $512.42 At least I had the lab results to give to my vet the next day. I do not recommend them. read more

First of all worst of the worse they are worse then gold diggers and will make sure that if you have money u leave without any or drain your bank and yet you will never get a correct diagnosis. They will charge you for items or treatment that's not actually administered to your pet and yet they will only let your pet be on life support. They will automatically tell you that your pet is in critical condition and will tell you to put your pet down. Highly discourage anyone from taking pets here if you have an emergency. Let me just say that Vergi is an amazing place. I do not live anywhere close to Vergi but I will drive the 45 minutes when I have an emergency. They saved my dogs life. They were on top of things from the start. They made me feel like they cared and put my mind at ease. They called me frequently throughout the day with updates. I had gone to 3 different places before coming here and none of those places had the equipment needed to diagnose my pup. They are above average price but they are 24/7 and people need to understand that emergency services are going to cost much more than your average neighborhood vet, just the same as when you go to a human hospital. They offer care credit which is good if you have a high cost. I also learned that they have actual veterinary surgeons so you are paying for higher quality care. I was very pleased with my 1st experience so much that when I had another incident with another dog, I drove the 45 plus minutes for care and will continue to do so in the future. read more

In an emergent situation, you expect the "expert" to assess the situation and offer reasonable solutions. I really feel like this place was just trying to rack up the bill as much as possible with no use of common sense at all. When I went to my regular vet for a follow up, they even noted how ridiculous some of the suggestions were. At Vergi, I essentially paid over $1000 for pain medication, none of which was administered by Vergi to the dog that was in pain. I had to give the mediation myself when I went in to pick up my pup. I was bullied in to a transaction for a clearly dying kitten. Quoted 155 on the phone for an exam and then was told it would be 210 when I got there . And then they tried to charge me 1500 dollars for testing knowing full well based on the doctors own admission the kitten wouldn't make it regardless. They settled down to an an additional 90 dollars after trying to get another 311 dollars . This is crooked crooked behavior. I was made wait to talk to a manager on the phone and told that I was right about only one part and I am seeking a refund for the bullying transaction. If anyone wants to be in contact with me by all means do so. I'm easy to find . Anyone want to comment below on and defend them please make it worth your time. Refund me for that garbage behavior. The services here is very slow and communication is non existent. They seem to care more for new patients coming in then help those they already have their and had already paid. I took me over an hour to get my pet out. I heard the nurse telling other that she would do more evaluation before finishing with releasing the other pets. No one there could tell me how long it would roughly take for them to release my pet. When the tech finally got to me (about 45 minutes later) it took her another 20-25 minutes to bring my dog out to me. Her excuse was, she had a hard time putting on the dog e-collar. I know for a fact it is NOT that hard to put on, i a non vet tech can do it easily, I would assume the vet tech could do it too. It is only 2 two little buttons to push through a hole. As i sat there and cannot do anything but wait, i hear the phone rang and rang and rang. There were 3 people sitting up there with no Patients in front of them and they couldn't seem to be able to pick up the phone. Not sure what's that is all about, but that seems kinda strange. We have been here many times in the past and services has never been like this. We have taken a few of our pets here for emergency and never had issues. Just this time it seems to have gone way down. If you have time to sit and wait with nothing better to do, sure come on by and waste over an hour just for them to release your pet. I do understand they are busy, but communicating with everyone would be great. Let people know we are running late, you have x patients ahead of ya and it would take about x amount of time for us to get your pet to ya. When you come in would be great. Heck they already got your money and your pet what are you going to do? If they told me that i wouldn't be so upset. I brought in my 19 year old Japanese Bobtail in for Respiratory distress. I had already paid for an online vet Consultation and had sent a video to my usual vet. My vet told me It was a critical situation that most likely could not wait until the next day and I could come in immediately. I Needed a little more time to say goodbye so I opted after hours emergency care. I understood when I chose to go to an after hours emergency clinic, my cost would be greater. I called and spoke with Sadia, she was kind and informative. I chose to have the Dr. do a medical exam -when Dr. Chan called to tell me the results - she was knowledgeable, patient and stayed on the phone as I continued to ask her the same questions over and over again. This was my first time at the clinic and was uneasy about a stranger euthanizing my baby. I immediately felt at ease after our conversation what a godsend!! We were put in a exam room and gave us as much time as We needed - and I took it - hours. I believe they only have 4 exam Rooms and I was taking up one and they told me I could stay as long as I needed. I'm going through an emergency I am a mess and that kind of kindness made all the difference in the world. When Dr. Chan came in to euthanize my baby we went over the procedure again- and again she was very patient. I was holding my cat say no no wait wait wait and she did - she waited until I was ready for the final injection. She stayed and answered all my questions afterward and gave me as much time as I needed with my departed baby! I was told about all prices ahead of time: Emergency Consultation = $116 Euthanasia = $65.66 ***At my usual vet an exam is $60 & Euthanasia $80 - and I am not allowed to stay in their exam room for hours! ***That kind of service is priceless. My bf dog had a severe ear infection. His poor little face was huge on one side. After driving him to three vets at 1am, we were directed to VERGI. The staff was amazing. They handled every animal with the utmost care and concern. The vet came several times just to check on him. The wait was long but it's an emergency room. When other people are bringing in their pet and they are more critical than mine you have to wait. Just as a human ER. More critical patients come first. We were there till 830 that morning. It was the most interesting 8 hours watching these amazing people work. They did such an amazing job, the next day I had wings and pizza delivered to them. So very thankful this place is available. I came into this place in tears because my dog was disoriented and not responding to his name. The staff showed absolutely no compassion at all. Didn't even ask if I needed a tissue. They waited hours to begin treating him and I honestly believe they gave him a medication that may have caused further damage. When I brought my dog in he was walking, but when I left he could not even hold his own head up. They told that the medicine they gave him seemed to be working and to watch him for a couple of hours and then take him to his normal vet once they opened if he wasn't getting better. I followed these instructions and let a hour or two pass before going to the second vet and I know that is why my dog passed away. If they would have explained to me how severe his condition was I would not have waited hours to have him seen by his vet. Our pup was run over by a car, we were in a panic and took him to our (former) vet clinic that did absolutely nothing, we were told that we would need to take him elsewhere if we wanted him to live. Vergi was a recomendation so we drove over an hour to get Porter the help he desperatley needed. From the second we came through the doors the staff at Vergi made our Porter's health their number one concern. A staff member ran to me at the door, took Porter in her arms and rushed him to the back for immediate care. Vergi's doctors and staff saved Porters life with emergency surgery. Porter needed to stay at the clinic for several days after the surgery and we were kept in the loop at every step of the way. Upon discharge and the follow ups were like bringing thier puppy back for a visit, they greeted him by name with love. Porter is still recovering at home and the road back will be a long one, we have found a new vet clinic for additional follow ups and rehab but only due to the distance from our home and having to get bandages changed daily. Once again today, Vergi has checked in to see how Porter is doing. If you are in the greater Houston area and have a Pet Emergency, get to VERGI! Do not hesitate. read more

Yesterday I had to put down my dog of 13 years as he was very sick. Vergi was honest with me and didn't think of money before health. My experience at Vergi was one of the worst I have ever experienced. This has nothing to do with Covid protocols and everything to do with lack of compassion, poor communication and likely poor staffing. I will say the receptionists are very pleasant and I can't fault them for the process and management. I guess that is what the one star is for. The wait times are ridiculous and they use the need to help the critically ill as the reason for the lack of communication. 2 1/2 hours in the parking lot while wondering what was going on is not reasonable. Saying many critically ill patients were coming in as I sat and watched only 3 cars come in was an out and out lie. I did not see any critically ill pets in any of them unless lack of urgency is just another issue. 24 hours and $1055.00 later I brought my beloved pet home. I would spend twice that if I thought she was getting the care and attention needed. One more example of incompetence is that I was told my dog had an accident but that she had been cleaned up and was resting comfortably. She came home with diarrhea all over her bottom and hind legs. This is how she was kept for many, many hours. I have been to Gulf Coast in the past and had a completely different and satisfying experience. The reason I went to Vergi was it was closer and I was so concerned about my dog's condition. After follow up with my regular vet, my dog is recovered and doing well, thank goodness. I would not recommend Vergi. My husband and I brought our 6 month old puppy here after he had been vomiting. We were told he would need immediate surgery. We went through with the surgery and were called and told "it was not as serious as they thought. Just a fold in the intestines. He will recover totally fine and could come home the NEXT DAY." We were never called with updates... I had to call EVERY SINGLE TIME. We were told he was fine just levels were a little low due to not eating. I called at 10:00pm Tuesday night and was told they were putting in a feeding tube to help with his nutrition. Not 3 hours later, my husband and I were called at 1:30am saying our healthy, happy beautiful 6 month old baby was dying. Given less than a 10% chance to live. Within 3 hours. They told us it was because he went into sepsis and therefore DIC. However they claim he showed "no previous signs of this" and sat in their vet office all day slowly fading. Whenever I was asked to be explained what happened, we were told "sorry risk of surgery in intestines." My 6 month old puppy is now gone and we still have NO clear answers to what has happened. I have requested all paperwork and am getting others in the vet world to look. Vergi vet failed my fur baby. I would NEVER recommend them. Ever in a million years and have told all of my fellow dog owners to never take their dogs here. They were insensitive to my husband and I even to go so far as bringing in our large bill ON A STICKY NOTE as we were grieving in a private room. We went here because we to love animals...My granddaughter two years ago spent her summer in catch and release program...at caps at twenty dollars apop over thirty cats...but when we ask questions it too much? Dr. Flowers never came back in....Skylor was even allowed to say we left with out the Dr. Ok.... doctor never came back...and if we need to put our animal to sleep it would be with someone who cared....we left...Gulf Coast now has our business.... read more

I'm can not say enough good things about this vet. I have gone to them many times over the past 20 years and they have always been kind and caring. Recently my precious pup of 16 years passed away at our home. After taking her to Vergi we received a card in the mail from their office. Multiple people had signed it and left notes letting us know how sorry they were for our loss. That was such a thoughtful thing to do and I really appreciated it. read more

Wanted to share the awesome experience I had at "midnight" at the Vergi 24/7 Emergency Vet Clinic. My senior cat was in need of medical attention, could hardly walk in bad pain. After waiting 4 hours at Gulf Coast Emergency to only be told they could not see my pet because they were too backed up and I guess understaffed. GCV suggested I go to Vergi 24/7. OMG the team was over the top. Thank you; Abbey at the front desk, Bria as tech and the awesome Doctor Cagle, You guys are true professionals and the love you all have for animals really shine. Vergi 24/7 is not a fancy place like GCV but the amount of care and explanation etc was great. If I ever have another pet emergency I will go to Vergi 24/7 not HCV even with it being farther away from my house. read more
