I love supporting local guys instead of the big box store in town. After today I doubt I will ever set foot in your store again! I hope you choose to right this wrong. I had a $10 off $50 Ace Rewards coupon. I picked up several things totally $62.15 before tax. The coupon didn't come off! Apparently there was a $1 coupon that applied because I bought 2 bags of salt. I didn't want or even care about this coupon, I just happened to need 2 bags! I understand that there is something in the fine print about this situation but come on! So because of this $1 coupon your manager on duty (Matt maybe, started with an M. Employee since 2019!) said I couldn't have the $10 off. He gave me the coupon back! I couldn't believe it! I don't want the coupon, I want my $10 off! Any logical person of integrity would realize that is the correct action! A good manager would have found a way to credit my card or hand me $10. I worked as a retail manager for a long time and this is some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered (and that is saying something!). You guys are known for being better than the big guys at customer service but this certainly doesn't reflect that! My wife and I like your store but we will never come back unless you make this right, if you want to lose thousands of dollars over the years over $1 then that is your call. Picked up a 5 gal bucket of elastomeric from the shelf. I'm v strong, but it was v heavy, so I asked an associate for a dolly cart. She looked at me and then looked at the product and said (not before correcting me on my terminology-like the dumb foreigner she treated me as), "you mean a CART!" Feeling empowered I'm sure, she then asks me, without yet dropping the disdainful expression, "How many do you need?", clearly erecting a stone wall. Without telling me where the carts are/ saying yes, I'll just get one, she proceeds to martyr up and try to grab the bucket herself, muttering, "I'll just carry it". I was t about to let that happen, and v confused, I said, "oh no, don't do that. Never mind, I can get it." Why didn't she just tell me where the carts were An old busy body decides to chime in right at the end, telling me I was outrageous. For asking for a cart I thought better if all this treatment Manager told me he would have just got me the freakin cart! I took a refund and made it clear my custom would be appreciated somewhere else, not to mention selling me the same product cheaper (habitat for humanity-highly recommended ) Despite feeling better that I get treated as a normal human anywhere else generally speaking, the bullying behaviour was very, VERY upsetting. Had a horrible customer service issue on 11/6/20. Went to return about $12 of plastic irrigation parts left over from a Spring project. I was told they have a 30 return policy. They checked my purchase history to confirmed I bought the parts in April, but they would not refund or even a store credit even after I told them we were part time residents. I am so surprised that they did not make an exception given my circumstances. So good bye Verde Valley Hardware, over $12. Your supervisor made a very bad decision today. I would always visit your store first because I like your sales help and I was okay with supporting a locally owned business. From this point on, I will pretend you are closed 24X 7. read more

I can't get enough of this place. We come back frequently. The inventory is outstanding, and it's also a homeowners' shopping fantasy land. Several times I have seen things while I was browsing, and have come back later with them on my shopping list. The staff here are Ace Hardware friendly, and I hope that never changes. Given that everyone comes here on a mission, I am impressed that all the customers treat each other well. I saw four stars on my last review, and I thought, "that can't be right." I had to get a copy of a Jetta Volkswagon key, I went to the front and asked a gentlemen at the front if they had them in stock or I had to order one, he told he we just have to order it for me around $200, he then told me to go the customer service area near the saws, and I talked to another gentlemen and I also let him know what I needed I was being polite and told him to take his time no rush, he grabbed his manager I believed to be, he came up to me and help, he grabbed my key and asked what car I told him what type, when I said the word Volkswagon he then dropped my keys on the table not hard, and he didn't throw them at me but he slightly dropped them and said "see ya" I thought he was joking, I chuckled and he said "see ya bye" I was confused and I asked what does he mean, he then told me they don't do Volkswagons, which was weird because the man at the front told me to just talk to them and order one from them, I understand if they didn't do Volkswagons and were very respectful about it, but the way that man talked to me was rude but the other employees were nice and helpful. The man who was rude did tell me I need to order one from the dealership which was helpful, but he definitely should have been nicer about it. read more

Every time I visit ACE in Cottonwood, AZ, the employees are polite and helpful. Today I needed to match some paint that was not originally purchased at ACE and I only needed a quart. Kyle in the Paint area was excited to help me match the color--he seemed to take it as a challenge. He was able to take a chip off the outside of the can and match the color perfectly! I went to Home Depot yesterday and the man in the paint area didn't want to even try to match it. I will always go to ACE hereafter. So happy to have ACE in Cottonwood! read more

The good news ~ I walked into the store this morning looking for a couple of plumbing needs and was greeted by a helpful salesperson who led me to the plumbing department and stayed with me until I made my decisions. I wasn't sure if the kitchen faucet would fit my sink, so he even opened the box to make sure it was really as it it showed on the package. He listened to my concern about prices and found one that woiuld work for a few dollars less than the one we were looking at. I also appreciated the freindly demeanor of the girl at the check-out counter. The bad news ~ I'm sure I could have gotten a much more reasonable price on both items had I gone to a big box store. But how many big box stores give that kind of customer service? It was a quick transaction, and there was no waiting at the check out counter. It was easy to find a close parking space, and I was thankful to be able to talk with someone who was much more knowledgeable than I. read more

After waiting my turn in the checkout line, the cashier points to the gal still filling popcorn bags and says "go see her". Don't waste your time if you need customer care. The best! I love Ace/Verde Valley Hardware. The employees here are friendly, fun, knowledgeable and super helpful! They genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs and helping customers. It's a refreshing contrast to the "big box" hardware store alternative in Cottonwood, Home Depot (where their staff seem to purposely avoid eye-contact if they see you wandering the aisles, leaving you to fend for yourself).The people at Verde Valley Hardware are always seeking customers to help. And if you don't happen to need any assistance, they won't bug ya. But they're always fun to talk to. They have a great selection of hardware, tools, lighting and electrical stuff, cleaning supplies, paint and art supplies, automotive care, camping goods,gardening and yard stuff, pool stuff, pet items , wild bird food and nectar, HVAC supplies, plumbing...The store is big but well staffed and the service is always exceptional. They also give you free, fresh hot popcorn, if you have the munchies while shopping! Fun section of silly toys, eccentric sodas, and always something interesting on sale. read more

My wife and I were riding home from the library and stopped in at this Ace Hardware for a tube of caulking. Ordinarily we would shop at any number of other stores in town that don't have their high prices, but we were on our bicycles, and it was on the way. I had on a backpack that contained my laptop among other valuables, while my wife had a shoulder bag (which, incidentally, could have fit two of my bags inside of it). After entering the store, I was approached and told that store policy is that backpacks be left up front. Not being comfortable with the fact that I was expected to trust them with the valuables in my bag even though they didn't trust me to be in the store with it, I tried to reason with them on various points, including that there were several women in the store who had bigger and much more easily accessible bags than mine, including my wife who had breezed in a minute earlier without hindrance, but all I kept getting was that it was store policy, leave it up front or get out. Because the store is covered from back to front with an abundance of security cameras, I asked if they could just keep an eye on me while I quickly grabbed my one item. No, leave it up front or get out. I asked if they could walk with me to find the caulk, wouldn't take a minute; No, leave it up front or get out! Given the increasingly adversarial nature of their retorts, I considered that perhaps these were employees who were hungrily grasping at any situation where they could "exert their authority," but I'm much more inclined to believe that it's a flawed management perspective. As a business owner for 36 years, I would offer to Ace management that rather than alienate a cross section of customers with a set of one size fits all directives to be aggressively and blindly doled out (I'm not the only one in these reviews to have been frustrated by this hard line stance), empower employees with a modicum of discretion to make reasonable accommodations in certain cases, particularly when a rule is clearly faulty in a time when the line between backpacks, handbags, belt bags, shoulder bags, etc., has become quite blurred. I would bet that your employees would be quite relieved to be unburdened from having to enforce black and white rules in a grey world where they don't always make sense, while those who actually enjoy the power trip aren't the kind of employees that you want in a customer service type of occupation anyway. If that's too much for you, consider having a few lockers available for all the people on foot, motorcyclists, bicyclists, women with backpack purses, etc., who aren't comfortable having their valuables tossed on the floor behind the counter and hoping they will still be there and/or be undamaged upon retrieval. read more

This location has to be one of the nicest hardware stores I've ever been in. It is brightly lit and everything is conveniently located. While it's big, it does not feeling cavernous and ongoing like your average home depot. And while I would not ever consider conducting a white glove test in a hardware store, something about this location just feels neat and clean. I shop Ace whenever I can for all my hardware (plus) needs. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable staff and they will actually bring you to the item and make sure you have picked the right item for you needs. And although I know I can always get in & out fast, I usually try to allow a few extra minutes to see what new and interesting home & garden goodies they have stocked, I am the woman who came in and bought out all their 20% vinegar which is impossible to find. It kills weeds with no poisons and does a better job than than those unmentionable brands . I hope they will be able to restock soon as I have sent many friends to get it when they saw how great my property looked - and they were told "we're sorry but some lady came in and bought us all out!" I was also able to get an Ace formulation that does the job of Aquamend. I could buy it on-line but shipping this small item is more than twice what the product cost. A ceramicist friend told me that this waterproof epoxy will hold anything and so far the Ace brand is working for me. It is such a pleasure going into a friendly store that has the products you want with no hassles and qualified help. read more

bought a stihl chain saw today, great service , the salesman Mark asked me what i was going to use it for , and showed me the one that would be great for my use them showed me all about it how to use it, even took it out back and gassed it up and started it up, I was so impressed i bought a stihl trimmer also and a few hundred in accessories, now try getting that kind of service from Home cheapo or any other box store, it was like being in a old home hardware store, greeted at the front door and asked did i need any help. i will be making this store my number 1 place to shop!!! read more

Clean, neat, organized, and a wealth of different types of products you would NEVER even find in Home Depot or Lowe's. And the best thing I like about coming to this store - ALL the employees are so friendly and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I came in the other day looking for furnace filters. The guy took me there personally and explained the differences between the types and brands. I was also looking for sink sanitizer sticks - he took me to the exact aisle where they were! You don't get this kind of service in Home Depot - ask someone directions on where something is, and you'll most likely be going on the Treasure Hunt along WITH them (because they don't know either).
