A phone number that works. Very frustrating to call a place of business and get a message that says: enter your remote access code.

My mother frequently visits this store during sales, and during her most recent visit, the male sales associate was rude and classist. He told her, "See you at the next sale," implying that she only shops during discounts. His comment was unnecessary and disrespectful. Because of this experience, we will no longer be returning. The rest of the staff and the owner have always been wonderful, but this incident reflects a need for better customer service training. read more

COVID-19 phase: Masks are worn by workers and required. This place is Amazing! Tons of great holiday stuff! They have so much more than that too! I had so much fun looking around at all of the great stuff and they had great holiday music playing. I went to get a Christmas gift for my grandmother. She loves pins and this place had them and I found a perfect one for her! The workers were very kind and welcoming! A worker even offered to wrap it for me! Appreciated! This store used to be a gem in this neighborhood. Unfortunately they don't seem to care about random consumers that are drawn in by their lovely storefront. They probably lose a lot of customers the same way in which they lost me recently. I walked in and was completely ignored. When I inquired about a couple of items the young girl up front had to go check with her mom in the back to get an answer. Both emerged shortly thereafter and tidied things around the store as I looked around. The mom is likely the store owner and did not once speak to me while I was in the store. A friendly hello goes a long way in this day and age when I can get anything I see in your store online for much less. I like to support local businesses but I won't be supporting this one again. Customer service is key to successful retail businesses no matter how nice your products are. Nobody is going to pay these ridiculously high prices to be treated poorly. read more

Pros: Very nice merchandise. Cons: Waaaay over-priced. Ridiculous markup based on sale price of same items elsewhere. Hit and miss regarding the staff. The last time I was there they were very helpful and friendly. During the majority of my visits however I was completely ignored. Unfortunately it seems to depend upon whether I go there from work and am dressed nicely or it's my day off and I'm in sweats. I wish retailers would understand that what someone is wearing or driving is little indication of their wealth or buying power. read more

My Mother in law loves (loved) Verdalee. Every year she buys me a new Kurt S. Adler Nutcracker from Verdalee for my collection. This year my Nutcracker was a duplicate of one from last year so she gave me the receipt so I could exchange it. I went into Verdalee today to make my exchange and do my usual shopping of their after Christmas sale. I was informed that Christmas merchandise cannot be returned or exchanged receipt or not. Well, I left with my duplicate Nutcracker without doing any shopping and I will not be doing any shopping there ever again. My Mother in law is livid. She is in her late 70's and feels she is being punished for her diminished memory. She will also not be shopping at Verdalee anymore. She will complain to her friends as will I and others will no longer shop at Verdalee either. I would have spent far more than the cost of the Nutcracker so Verdalee would have lost nothing in letting me do my exchange. Now they have lost at least 2 longtime customers and probably more. read more

Verdalee saved me again! Needed a black and white centerpiece in middle of Dec. ASAP. The gals found contemporary b&w ornaments, put In a gold bowl and VOILA - In less than 10 minutes It was wrapped beautifully and I was on my way to the party. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a nice gift for my mother's birthday. I paid $25 to have it gift wrapped as well because I usually love they way they wrap. I picked up the gift a week later and when I got home, I noticed two big squares of paper taped to both sides of my gift, because they didn't use enough paper to cover the entire thing. The Verdalee sticker was also missing on the gift. I called and explained my concern and they told me to bring it so they can re-do it. When I walked in with the gift, two very nice girls greeted me and asked what they could do to help. Before I was able to finish my sentence, the woman who wrapped the gift in the first place rushed over and yanked the gift out of my hands and turned around walking away. I walked up to her in disbelief. She gave me attitude and mentioned that she LOST money wrapping my gift, because the cardboard box she used was supposedly $15 and the paper is "expensive." She told me she knows what she is doing because she's been wrapping gifts for 21 years, and that I wouldn't like her other wrapping paper options. She also told me that because the gift I got was marked down in price, that she does NOT put a Verdalee sticker on it because someone might try to return it. I mentioned to her that it is my mothers birthday and I was going to need a sticker, so she finally agreed to put the sticker on my gift. She refused to re-wrap my gift and told me she was going to tape down the squares of paper on the sides so they wouldn't lift anymore. I am very disappointed and won't be going back to Verdalee. I'll be giving my business to Vonda's from now on. So much for a high end gift shop. I could have wrapped that gift myself. You just lost a customer! read more
