Had a few things to recycle and Dad likes this place. My first time here or any recycle place…read more One way in and one way out, enter on Petroleum Ave. Seems like plenty of parking. Everyone is hustling and bustling. Grab a few bins to separate your recycles, bring it over to the friendly employees, they get weighed, you get paid. Quick, efficient, you're helping the environment, it's all good.

After they closed the recycling center in Gardena near Home Depot, I'm glad I found Venture. When…read moreyou shop at Costco and Sam's Club, it's amazing how fast the piles of plastic bottles and aluminum cans piles up. There's only so much microplastic our bodies can store so what to do with the macro portion left over? Sure, I could just dump it in my blue recycling cans, save time, effort, and have people digging through my recycling, dumping the rest of the contents on the street or let the city cash in my hard earned CRV. Nah. The city already takes more than their fair share of my income. The workers at Venture are always friendly and helpful. There is adequate parking and never a shortage of bins to roll over to the scales. The lot is set up so traffic goes one way, making entering and exiting efficient. It is rather grungy but it's a recycling center. I've never seen one that could pass a white glove inspection. Just wear a pair of rubber/vinyl gloves so you don't get gunk on your hands and you'll be fine. There are closer recycling centers closer to home but the guys at Venture make an inconvenient chore into a more pleasant experience.

A typical recycling place that has a shipping container and guys that will weigh your items and…read morehelp you get paid. The guys are friendly and quick, and will help you figure out how to sort your recyclables. Just be sure to bring gloves because everything is filthy. Not knocking them, it's just the nature of the business. There's a separate booth that has a slot where they slip you a form to sign and return. Then the money comes out of the slot with your itemized receipt. You can't see inside the booth. It reminds me of pachinko parlors in Japan. In order to not be considered a gambling hall, pachinko parlors usually have a separate booth out back where you can redeem your ticket for cash instead of the cheap prizes inside. At least that's how it was in the 80s. Some other customer noticed that I brought less than a pound of aluminum cans. He just had to tell me I was better off throwing that amount away. Well, shitbird, if you must know, I casually recycle whatever I use and donate the proceeds to my favorite charity. I'm sure those sick kids wouldn't appreciate me throwing away the money. Keep your mouth shut the next time you feel like opining on something that is none of your business. You sound like an idiot.

They are very nice and helpful there. I haven't been too many recycling centers before except the ones next to Albertson's, but I like them because they will help you recycle everything and not leave anything behind unlike Plane Recycle next to Albetson's whose machines are temperamental and will only take perfect bottles and spit out crushed ones (plus I don't think they give you as much as they are worth). G & P has a washing hands container so that is helpful, but after going you need to make sure to take a shower.... All the recycle bins have stuff all sticky in and on it and when they stack them in the end, all that stuff flies in the air and gets on you.
