What drew me to Wilmington Recyclers was the fact that they offer 7cents per pound for metal while other places give only 1 cent per pound. Also, compared to other places, they have the most extensive list of items that they will take: ewaste, appliances (large and small), and even car batteries For the metals, they have an in ground scale that weighs the car along with your haul, afterwards, you drop off the metals in a large metal bin, then reweigh you car. There are many different lines for different items, the process can be very overwhelming for a newbie. Robert helped guide us, and walked us through each area. I saw many families turning in their recyclables: a good lesson in reducing waste. FYI: Most staff speak little English, so look for Robert/Roberto if you don't speak Spanish.

There's only so much microplastic our bodies can store so what to do with the macro portion left over? Sure, I could just dump it in my blue recycling cans, save time, effort, and have people digging through my recycling, dumping the rest of the contents on the street or let the city cash in my hard earned CRV. Nah. The city already takes more than their fair share of my income. The workers at Venture are always friendly and helpful. There is adequate parking and never a shortage of bins to roll over to the scales. The lot is set up so traffic goes one way, making entering and exiting efficient. It is rather grungy but it's a recycling center. I've never seen one that could pass a white glove inspection. Just wear a pair of rubber/vinyl gloves so you don't get gunk on your hands and you'll be fine. There are closer recycling centers closer to home but the guys at Venture make an inconvenient chore into a more pleasant experience.

First off, the entrance line extended about six cars deep into Gaffey street. On top of that, it was literally moving at a snails pace. Every time I have been here prior, and including this visit, there are 3 attendants unloading for you, always asking you to NOT get out of your vehicle. But for some reason, this visit took an exceptionally long time. 45 minutes to be exact from start to finish. I would say, don't go on a Saturday at 11:30 a.m. It's never been that time consuming before so I guess timing is everything...

The place is relatively clean and seemed pretty organized. They had plenty of baskets for aluminum and rolling trash cans for glass. There was no wait in front of me. They took me immediately. I was in an out in five minutes. They paid $1.83 per pound for my aluminum cans, which I believe is above the state minimum of $1.57 per pound. I got $.105 (10 cents) per pound for my CRV glass- mostly beer bottles. Please note: there is no CRV on wine bottles and other food jars, etc. Those are considered "scrap," and I didn't get any money for them. Just put those in your blue curbside container. This place has its own sanitation station, but I highly recommend bringing your own gloves and hand sanitizer. Aluminum and plastic bottles go into the orange net baskets (but should be separated). Large plastic gallons should be placed on top of small/standard water bottles. Glass bottles go into the grey plastic bins. If you come right before they open at 9AM, you'll likely run into 1-2 parties trying to be in and out of there as well. I always run into families here, but the community as a whole is pretty good about not hogging containers/baskets.

The "new guy" told me, "in the bins", and when I tried to explain what I had going, he just talked over me and said, "IN THE BINS MA'AM!". I tried to understand, or get him to explain, such as, was there a new owner? He never answered that instead just said, "limit of 15 for each type". So, I left. He was so rude! I thought the law was that if you pay a 5c deposit on a bottle, you're supposed to get 5c back?!

Hours of operation are from 7am to 7pm. They will not take you early for your appointment because they are waiting on empty storage containers to load with your load. The staff is very friendly and professional. There is a scale check when you enter and the 3 docks are very tight. But mostly a straight back. Overall this is a 3 because it just takes a long time to unload. Maybe 3 hours to plan accordingly. Also you need to bring a broom to sweep your trailer. An absolute true dump here.
