I had already tried two other recycling companies in Long Beach and they refused to take any of it. Although I did not receive any money for these usable printed items. I was thankful to get them off my hands.

The place is relatively clean and seemed pretty organized. They had plenty of baskets for aluminum and rolling trash cans for glass. There was no wait in front of me. They took me immediately. I was in an out in five minutes. They paid $1.83 per pound for my aluminum cans, which I believe is above the state minimum of $1.57 per pound. I got $.105 (10 cents) per pound for my CRV glass- mostly beer bottles. Please note: there is no CRV on wine bottles and other food jars, etc. Those are considered "scrap," and I didn't get any money for them. Just put those in your blue curbside container. Yesterday, I went, with the back of my SUV filled with assorted fluids and headed for EDCO. When I arrived at 10:00am, the line was already blocks long, extending around the corner of Spring Street , almost to Atlantic Avenue! Yikes! There are lots of street attendants directing folks. The one I spoke with assured me that the line moves quickly. He was right! This is a very efficiently run process, only available two Saturdays each month (check their website). When you pull into the disposal area, several men open your back hatch and quickly remove all of the items that you need to safely dispose of. And then, you are on your way...with the wonderful feeling of accomplishment that cleaning out AND properly disposing potentially dangerous items brings! Hint: Find out what time they are opening (usually 8 or 9am) and get there early.

This place has its own sanitation station, but I highly recommend bringing your own gloves and hand sanitizer. Aluminum and plastic bottles go into the orange net baskets (but should be separated). Large plastic gallons should be placed on top of small/standard water bottles. Glass bottles go into the grey plastic bins. If you come right before they open at 9AM, you'll likely run into 1-2 parties trying to be in and out of there as well. I always run into families here, but the community as a whole is pretty good about not hogging containers/baskets.

The nice guy had taught me that if I knew how many of each type I had, they could just pay out for those amounts. That's why I had everything written down on the outside of each bag. The "new guy" told me, "in the bins", and when I tried to explain what I had going, he just talked over me and said, "IN THE BINS MA'AM!". I tried to understand, or get him to explain, such as, was there a new owner? He never answered that instead just said, "limit of 15 for each type". So, I left. He was so rude! I thought the law was that if you pay a 5c deposit on a bottle, you're supposed to get 5c back?!
